Unlike the hustle and bustle of Zatao's port city Katarina, Motterossa had a tranquil air to it that Magnolia absolutely loved. Though her plans that day were to take to the unmarked path laid out via map and start on her journey with Altais to the Kesfas range, her intention to do so slipped midday, and she instead found herself drinking tea in the town's verdant park with recently bought travel essentials piled next to her. That headache known at Altais the Jirachi disappeared as he did so many times when he found Magnolia to be a bore and ventured off to find someone or something more exciting. Though the teen cared deeply for the legendary, it was wonderful to have him gone once in a while. The most elated member of her company to have him gone was her feline companion, Rho, who was curled up on her lap lightly snoozing as she sipped her beverage slowly beneath the shade of a hilltop tree.
Unfortunately, the duo's first time together as two quickly returned to three when a cry of delight shattered the relaxing atmosphere. Magnolia did not hear of Altais's beaming approach, but Rho's heightened hearing certainly picked up the first thrums of the legendary's telepathic voice, and his face immediately twisted in disgust to what was to come.
Like a comet marring the midday sky, Altais shot across the open terrace and up the incline of the slope to Magnolia. A slip of paper held tightly to his chest fluttered wildly with the speed he had taken. The fourteen year old blinked in surprise to the Jirachi's appearance and even Rho had to raise his head and capture the image of the other Pokemon with disdain in his narrowed glare.
Without even giving the her the chance to question his whereabouts or sudden jolt of mirth, Altais forced the paper only five centimeters from Magnolia's face and cried, "We have to do this, Magnolia! We have to go!"

Magnolia swallowed the sip of tea she still had pooled in her mouth, settled her cup down, and creased fingers onto the slip of paper. With a slight tug, she retracted the flier to a distance where she could read it evenly. Altais released it as well, fluttering back with a smile to himself as if he knew, then and there, that his plan was an ingenious effort at maximum fun. The trainer skimmed her eyes over the sand-hued advertisement detailing "magnificent views" as one "steadily floated along the skylines."
Rho, also curious of what resurrected Altais's pushy ways, poked his head up between the gap of Magnolia's chest and the paper. He too read the seemingly welcoming flier with terror, internally rejecting the offer to spend a day thousands upon thousands of feet in the air dangling by only a suspended basket whose holdings could snap at any moment. With worried eyes, he looked up to Magnolia with hopes she thought the same, but his sight was only greeted with her ambiguous neutral facade that never seemed to shift at all. Suddenly, the paper lowered a fraction as the Pokemon's trainer considered the latter with a blink.
Stretching her arm towards him, she gave him a few shakes of her head, and finalized her decision with a breathed, "No." Rho couldn't help the swell of relief to flush across his features.
Looking devastated, Altais snatched back the paper from her and shook it violently in her direction. "Why not?" he whined. "This looks like so much fun! Why won't you take me?!"

"Because," she replied. "It'd cut into our traveling time."
Altais couldn't accept her answer. "That's stupid!" he argued. "It's only for a day!"
Magnolia frowned. "A day long detour is an obstacle, Altais. Do you know how much traveling can be done in a single day? You asked me to accompany you to the Kesfas Mountains, so that is what I'm going to do and in the smallest time frame possible. Do you understand?"
"If-"
"No ifs."
"And-"
"No ands."
"But-"
"Or buts. I remain firm: my answer is no."
Altais tried to repress his rage, but couldn't. The paper within his grip crinkled flat as he squeezed his eyes shut and roared a loud, "Aargh!" His outburst was released in a subtle telekinetic tremor that stunned the blades of the grass on the hill flat and pinned his trainer's back to the trunk of the tree behind her. Rho hissed at the legendary as if acting out Magnolia's intended reaction. However, instead, she held her composure before the haughty legendary. If she broke beneath his iron curtain of conceitedness, she knew their promised partnership would break and it'd be he who would be dragging her around again. Magnolia didn't want to return to her original reputation as "lackey" to the Jirachi. If she did, Magnolia guaranteed her own death this time, unlike all the other moments when Altais brought her close to the brink when he assumed the role of leader.
