It was time.
Aysha wandered through the jungle, attempting to find some place suitable for her to give birth. Having never been through this before, she had figured that things would all fall into place when they needed to. But now that it was time, her mothering instincts were in control and she was out searching for an appropriate place. Her cub needed a nice environment to grow up in, one that was safe and whatnot. Her goal was to find one.
Just a few weeks ago, before she had gone into labor and whatever else, she had believed she'd want her good friend Mteuli to be there with her for supporting reasons. Yet now she realized that she'd rather settle this alone.
Continuing on, the pains soon became too unbearable, forcing the bulging female to stop and growl in frustration. She hadn't found the perfect place for her cub to be born in! Shaking her head, she tried to push onward, hoping that a den of some sort wouldn't be too far away. Yet it seemed that the cub inside of her had different plans. She could already feel it pushing out from inside of her stomach.
Flinching, she took one step then flopped down onto her side softly. Where she had landed was under quite a large set of leaves, covering her from view and allowing a decent bit of privacy. For now, this would do.

The pains came more and more frequently, leaving little to no time in between. Any second now, the black and white lioness would be pushing out the life that had been growing within her for three months. Finally the burden on her belly would be gone, yet she'd have a new task, one that she was fully confident she'd be able to overcome with flying colors.
Smiling despite the pain, the lioness pushed as the contractions seemed to be at their peak. Pain seared through her small body, but she managed not to cry out. There was no need to go drawing attention to herself.
After about an hour of pushing, something began to pop out. Craning her neck around to see, Aysha managed to catch a glimpse of what looked like a little cub head. Good, it was coming out the correct way. Hopefully there would be no problems with the rest of the birth. There was no one around to help and so she and her cub were very vulnerable.
"Come on.." she whispered, as if trying to coax the little thing out of the womb it had developed in. Yet it seemed to work, as the cub soon slid straight out and onto the ground.
But it wasn't moving.
Fearful, she purred curiously and nosed the small being, afterwards picking it up by the scruff and placing it in between her forepaws so that she could clean it and hopefully coax it to breath.
After a few minutes of anxious waiting, the new mother was beaming with pride as the new life in front of her began to unfold. Once it had been fully cleaned, she figured out that it was a boy. Her first son. Aysha couldn't have been more proud.
Still beaming over with pride, the female picked up the little creature again then placed him against her belly to suckle. There were no more coming, she knew, for the pains had gone away and she felt no movement inside.
The only thing she felt was the pure happiness at successfully bringing this cub into the world and the suckling of her first cub. A name would form with time.

Mteule had come as fast as he could. He'd been dozing to rest before Kauta's teaching that afternoon when visions began to invade his dreams. They weren't nearly as cleanly cut as those that he or his brother might rarely but usually have, but he'd gotten enough from it to know that Aysha needed someone with her. The young lioness had been growing larger with the care and protection of the pride, and as such Mteule knew she was near birthing. It seemed like this would be the day.
He emerged out of the foilage without masking his approach, calling ahead-- "Aysha!" --before he reached her so that Aysha would know it was just him that approached.
She lay there amidst the ferns, looking tired, but well rewarded as a little bundle of red, white, and black lay nursing at her side. The male's expression eased from concern into a soft, relieved smile. He padded into view but kept a comfortable distance for her sake.
"Aysha, are you alright?"

Rounded ears perked as she heard a voice call out to her. For a moment she had trouble placing who it belonged to, all of her thoughts focused on the little cub nestled at her side. Yet when Mteule appeared and kept his distance, the mother merely smiled and watched her cub.
"Oh, yes, I'm quite fine, thank you," she purred softly, licking at her cub a few times before finally turning her gaze to rest on the other. She was proud of the life she had brought into the world, and the expression on her face definitely showed her feelings.
"Isn't he beautiful?" Aysha murmured, more to herself than to him, really. Her eyes wandered back towards the cub that lay at her side, suckling the warm milk from her.
"I think I've decided on a name."

The dark pelted priest smiled, easing just a bit closer for a better look. Already he could see signs of Ardhi blood flowing strong through the little one's veins, or, perhaps Mbingu. They were never sure until Kiva came to them in their dreams. There was much new life yet to be blessed, for Tanashita still had to return with the three children Matifu informed the pride of, and her newly found mate. Then there was Matifu and Theluji's new litter. Imagine the odds of one of their own wandering right into the homeland. Three beautiful boys, and now Aysha had been blessed with her own son as well. It was indeed a VERY joyus time for their family.
"He is indeed, my friend. You say that you've found a suiting name for him?"
Mteule offered a soft, warm smile, gazing over mother and son with rich night-blue eyes. He'd ask if she needed food in a moment, but for now just offered her companionship.

The red cub laid in a ball at first, with his paws covering the bridge of his nose. His body was still recovering from his part of the birth when something warm nuzzled him. The cub stretched out his limbs before opening his small mouth to emit a tiny cough. He felt a warm sensation rolling over his fur leaving it smooth and clean.
The multi-colored cub squirmed around reaching out into the darkness trying to find footing on the vegatation underneath. However, this didn't last long for he was hoisted into the air (not without protest) he squirmed and kicked out into the air unaware of what was going on around him before being set down beside a fuzzy warmth. He began to hear muffled voices, but couldn't quite understand their meaning.
He started to pull himself closer to warm mass that was in front of him. His nostrils extended as he smelled a sweet substance. His hunger drew him closer to her soft underbelly. It didn't take long before he found the teats to nurse on. He gave a hiccup as he continued to drink the warm liquid only pausing once or twice to catch his breath.

The new mother smiled, still looking down at her cub. She had heard that there were other cubs, slightly older than her own. This excited her, for she liked the idea of her won having other to grow up with and to play with. Hopefully they would all get along just fine..
Glancing back over to the other, she nodded slowly. "Yes, a name." Suddenly her smile grew wider. "Ausi'shemshi." It had a nice ring to it, she thought, though the meaning was still a bit hazy in her mind. Things were a bit crowded in her head now as new feelings, thoughts, and instincts began to reveal themselves. It also didn't help that she was extremely tired from the birth, even though she had had only one cub.
Yawning, she rested her head on the ground. "I think I'll rest now..." she whispered, before closing her eyes and drifting off into dreamland with her little son suckling at her belly.
