I have been forming a OC that would fit within the Avatar Series (mostly within Korra's timeline) about another Airbender that survived the extermination almost 200 years ago, kept under ice and lock in a secret Fire Nation compound that had come to light.

The Fire Lord (at the time, grandfather of Zuko) Found this air bender's peaceful-turned-violent battling style to be so amusing, he decided to keep this one as a secret prize. When the tyrant Fire Lord (now Zuko's father) was defeated, he spilled some minor detail about the surviving air bender, but warned them that he was too violent for the world. The final words from Aang before his passing involved finding this poor wretched soul that had been locked away from the world. His location was discovered, but the discovery team was wounded badly from his violent awakening, escaping to the outside world. When he discovered how long he had slept, and that Aang survived to end the war, Shinryu, the air bender who turned from peace, wanted to find some clarity. During his nomad travels across most of the world, he discovered that air benders were living near the capital of the world. Wanting to learn the way of peace he threw aside over 200 years ago, he made his journey to find his kind, and gain forgiveness from the Avatar...

If anyone can assist, I would deeply appreciate it. whee

Given the newest episode of Korra, where they went back to the origin of the Avatar . . . What do you think of going back to that era?

Huh, now that I think about it that would be a good idea to go with. So keeping the OC we'll have the timeline long before One (I think that's what it sounded like or was it Won?) became the first avatar, maybe inspired by this group we can form. In the meantime, i'm open to any and all Avatar OCs anyone wanting to take part in this available. Just Keep in mind there will be no advanced forms of bending unless they say that they want to start it (mostly Lightning for Fire and Blood being kept secret from even the team unless last resort. Metal is out of the question since metal wasn't useful back then.) They can PM these OC to me and i'll look them through when I get the time to do so (which is frequent).

I'm surprised u even found this; I hadn't had anyone ever ask about it in ages I almost gave up on it. biggrin

I am not afraid of pulling a Lazarus on a thread. ninja

Wan/Won was what heard when I listened carefully. It does sound like One, but that makes no sense.

As for advanced bending, I disagree. If you saw the episode, the LionTurtle gave them bending when away from the city, so no forms were commonly known. they showed Won learning how to control his firebending with a dragon out in the spirit areas, and stunning the hunters. They had no idea how he was so fluid in the use of fire. I would think the ineptness of using elements to be more accurate, but it is your game. I am just going by what I see and intuition.

Huh, now that I've seen this in a whole new light, I may have to rethink how i'm having all of this work out..... wait, I got it....I think.

We can have a group of benders/nonbenders (one of them optionally being the next avatar after Wan [HA finally got the name correct whee and you were right, so thanks for pointing that out ] but not required), therefore making them the unrecorded Team Avatar. I'm still going to stick to my OC for this but his background will need a serious make over. In any case, as for advanced bending I meant more along the lines of Lightning Blood and Metal bending.

I'm glad you pointed all of that out, otherwise I wouldn't have all this down properly 3nodding

My pleasure. I still would be careful about using the advanced bending too readily. Perhaps only one master for each terminus for bending? One bloodbender, one metalbender, one lightning bender . . . Legends. The puppeteer, one that is known to be served because he/she will make you do as she wants regardless of if you desire it. The master craftsman that is legendary for making weapons faster and better than any have ever dreamed- but is nigh impossible to gain his/her ear for a commission. Then there is the stormbringer, known for striking down divine light upon their enemies.

Just thinking 'out loud' here.

Your out loud thinking just might save this RP yet! How did you avoid this subject (even though I didn't specify it)? I would deeply appreciate it if you would assist with getting the RP set up for some volunteer recruiting. Could you? emo (closest thing to the forbidden 'puppy-eyes jutsu' XD)

Only two flaws there, friend. First, I am immune to almost all forms of cute. After training on a purebred cocker spaniel puppy, only one form of cute gets through- and such is not it. Second, any time I am in charge of a RP even in part, it dies. Case in point: I spent a full year creating a RP, paying attention to every detail I could find, creating a rich backstory for the world and even going as far as to discuss the husbandry of characters and powers . . . and it was dead on arrival.

That said, I will help you brainstorm publicly and privately. Bounce ideas off of me, and I will gladly help if I can. This is your creation- I am but a sounding board.

Background, we already know from Aang's time that the giant moles (badger-moles, I think) taught earthbending, the Flying Bison taught airbending, and the moon inspired waterbending. Wan refined his firebending with a dragon. So, short of those trainings, people would have access to bending out in the world . . . just in an unrefined way. Like an untrained superhero, using their powers but not in the most efficient way possible.
