And, people can google free pdf's and put in their own work. Should people choose to avoid paying for material that isn't worth the money and screen material firsthand before purchasing. That's on them. But, if you are looking for someone who cares about copyright laws. That ain't me.
I just wanted you to be aware that some google sources may be pirated books. Scribid is one that has pirated books. If you can find it online free I say go for it. Though I have found some of them are missing pages or sections. I have gotten incomplete PDFs in that manner.
The only time I really care about copywrite laws is when people reference authors, books or statements in said books, authors, and the like. If some one finds something in an article they read online I care about being able to find the article and reading it myself.
So basically if you are directly referencing something you read somewhere, even if its a basic I think they said something like this I want to know where to find it.
I let basically any one reference and share anything I post on my blogs or on Gaia. I just ask that in some way they mention where the original post came from. So if some one quotes something from any of my blog posts I just ask they mention the source of the quotes.
Now I will get pissed if I find some one posts my articles and essays elsewhere without crediting me as the author, but that is because of how much time I spend writing it. Quotting my articles and linking them I don't care as that is freedom. Quotting them with out sourcing me as the author on the other hand is disrespectful and dishonest. That is plagerism.
Basically I think of it as if I were writing a paper for school. In the bibliography I would have to cite or mention any works I quotted either perfectly or in essence. I simply ask people do do the same. Which to me, if you have the quote in front of you while typing it out in a discussion, you can take the additional minute and say where it comes from.
I think that is just respectful in that manner. Shouldn't claim words written by someone else as your own. Do you think you can do that much?
