I just finished reading a story where humans must survive an alien attack. This has peaked my interest in creating a survival story.
I would rather not do a zombie story but I am not totally turned off by the idea.
A little about me...
My name is Sarah, I am 25 years old, and have been writing since I was fourteen years old. I work forty hours a week and currently looking for a second job.
I am best at creating characters and dialogue. Although I am not great with spelling, grammar, and transitions I do not expect my partner to do all the work; after all I gotta learn some time.
My other topics are still open, however they have nothing to do with this thread.

While in the shower I had an idea. Let's make this a team write.
Characters I thought of but are not limited to:
Hunter/Trapper Thief Priest with small child Marksman Military men Crazy guy off his meds Doctors (any kind) The two teens that are madly in love with each other (gotta have drama) A third teen for that awkward love triangle (gotta love em) Explosions guy Mountain climber And all the random civilians.
First off, I'm not sure how the pay would work out so that will be discussed once the team is made. Honestly though, I'm not lookin to make money off this story; I just want to write it.
I don't have the event figured out; I'd rather we all discuss it first. I do have a guild we can use for the story.
I had the idea that each person (probably a team no bigger than 5-6) will write from a character's point of view (actual pov will be discussed later). As small groups of survivors begin to form, our characters will meet up with each other. Some may move on to help search for others or just go their own way.
If you would like to participate please post an example of your work and what kind of character you wish to write for. I want a variety of characters. I am not looking for artists, however if this intrigues you I wont dismiss you.
If I accept you, please have in mind what kind of character(s) you want to write for. I would like you to either have knowledge of their skill or be willing to research them. They are your characters and I expect you to know everything about them. Course I don't mind helping create the shell, but it's up to you to fill it up.

I have problems I know--getting involved with all of these writing projects--but I can't help it. To be honest, when I read a 'survival story' I wasn't at all interested. They're so cliche, but going through the rest of your posts, I'm open to it. I have a particular draw towards the crazy guy off his meds, the thief, and the marksman. I have characters for all of them already formed, so it would only be a matter of transfering them from their original story to this one. If you're at all interested in having me on this, let me know so I can start drafting/collecting sample writings. Thanks.

I also have a problem with writing projects. Every time I see a request in the Collaboration Forum I have to force myself not to join everyone.
I want to make sure you are 100% into this project. I've had so many people either drop their story or drop out of mine. I don't think I'm going to get anymore bites so it may just be me and you, if you decide to help.

Gosh, I really do want to write this, but in all honesty I can't promise that I'll be constantly writing. I leave for college in a week, so a new story isn't the primary focus of my life right now. Sorry. Thanks for the offer though. I hope you find some more writers.

Alright, thanks anyway. Good luck with College

If it's not to late to join, I'm interested in writing a survival story. I love the idea of writing post-apocalyptic fiction and such (which is set after natural disasters of sorts). Did you already have a plot in mind?
I could write from the Doctor's perspective or Mountain Climber's perspective.

Well, another writer and I wrote out the plot and all, but she disappeared. I would love to have more help on it. Link to survival story

I hope you don’t mind. I thought I would add to your plot since there were a few questions that came into mind when I read it. I kept it in spoiler since I didn't want to stretch the page. Feel free to add or re-write some of what I've written. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
1. Daemons possessing the people
Question: How did it all start? Why? - A young mother having lost her daughter from drowning in a pool wanted to bring her back. I imagine the mother to be in her early twenties or late teens.
She was a runaway teen coming from an abusive home and a former drug addict who took the time to become sober to care for her child. Her daughter was the only one she truly loved and cared for so when she died part of the mother’s soul/connection to humanity died with her. She turned back to drugs, refused religion, and went to the occult arts.
Having no experience in black magic, whatsoever, in the conjuring of her daughter. She makes a mistake and summons a daemon instead. The daemon possesses her body and tries to take over the world.
Question 2: How does the take-over start? - The woman (now possessed) starts to take the souls of the homeless, the prostitutes, the criminals, and anyone who is corrupt. Like poison, her army of possessed spreads and grows. On the 6th of June on the 6 hour (6 am), everyone of the possessed gather on rooftops of one city and jump off. The whole city can become the portal/doorway to the daemon world.
2. Priest Ritual & Bible
Question: What does the instruction for the ritual entail? - A sacrifice of an infant (less than a year old) born on the 25th of April. The mother must give the priests her complete consent to do this. If she cannot go through with it, it will not work.
Question 2: Where can it (the Bible) be found? - I was actually thinking it could be split into two. One half in northern Syria and one in the catacombs in Italy. (I’m not sure if you want to make this story in Earth or another universe.)
3. Warrior Priests
Question: Who are the warrior priests? - Children born with the “Eyesight”, probably taken from a psychiatric institutions (because they see daemons and react accordingly), and trained by the Holy Order (I thought that could be the name of the organization the warrior priests work from) and they could call themselves Overseers.
The priests/overseers can be ordinary citizens by day and warriors by night. There are bases all over the main cities of the world, but they run a covert operation so no one knows of their existence. Their central base (the one who control everything) can be located in Syria. The main job of the overseers there is to uncover the second part of the Bible.
4. Characters
Question: How do they (civilians) figure out about the existence of the Holy Order and Priests? - Right place, wrong time? They could have overheard a conversation between the priests and now volunteer to help them out whilst not telling everyone else the existence of the overseers.
Question 2: Why keep the Holy Order secret? - The daemons thought the Holy Order died in their last crusade with them. If they were found out, the daemons would use all their resources and strength to obliterate the Order.
Number 2-1) I think only a pure soul, willing and able, to sacrifice themselves would work. An infant cannot speak, so someone between the ages of 5-15 would probably be pure enough to sacrifice themselves.
2-2) I was planning on it being on earth, I like the idea of having it split and in two different places. Not sure where though, it would have to be two highly religious ares back in the day of the first draft of the bible, if that makes sense.
3) I figure with this one, those born with the eyesight are called one thing, while those who are exorcised and receive the eyesight, are called another. Not all children will be in psychiatric hospitals. Some are smart enough not to say anything and some are born into the order. The rest of 3 I love
4-1)All the characters in the story, not counting background characters, run into the Order, either being saved or trying to help them save others.
4-2) That and/or they believe the remaining few cannot possible defeat them, unknown to the daemons that they have grown.

2-1) Of course. I was thinking of the purity of the soul when I suggested an infant, but I think giving the person a choice makes more sense.
2-2) We could both research a place. Do you have any ideas? I was thinking of Syria because they've found what is believed to be King Solomon's Temple there.
3) True. It was merely a suggestion that some be part of an institution. Perhaps we can even make a character who has the sight be part of the group. This character could keep their ability a secret until they come across the priests.

4-1,2) That sounds great!
I have no clue about religious places, so I'll definitely have to research it. Which character should have the sight as a secret?

Of course, that's okay. Take your time on it. I'm going to see if I can find some books about religious places tomorrow in the library. In the meantime, I think we can get started by assigning the characters and plotting how they will all meet up and who is in who's group.
As for the character with the sight, I think the most normal person out of the bunch should have the sight. Maybe one of the doctors, teens, or the small child with the priest(s). I think it just makes it more spontaneous and no one would ever guess that this person would have the sight.

I'll do some research tuesday and wednesday. What about the highly charismatic guy? He's seen them all his life, he would be used to seeing them so he doesn't freak out as badly as the others.
