Adal sealed the vial as soon as Peder was done with it. He took off his left glove and used it as reinforcement for his fingers while he hovered the small and thin glass over the candle, its flames licking its end and quickly smoldering it with heat. The glowing black that emanated from the candle was quickly liquifying and dripping to the bottom, its movements sluggish like tar.

"The Furvus Elixir won't hurt Plagues. Or Grimms, for that matter. It's just the closest replica that we've made to a Plague's blood before, essentially, and it's highly reactive when other Plagues touch it." He shook the bottle slightly-- much of the liquid was evaporating into a black fume, and what remaining liquid there was crytallized into sediment. Small bits of white light stuck out like stars in the night, sparse and glowing.

"So?"

Adal narrowed his eyes and glanced at Audrey. "For most Plagues, this isn't an immediate process. The very same applies to Peder. The elixir needs enough time curing until it tries to grow into a Plague like him. Of course, it'll fail and die, and I can read its remains to estimate Peder's magical ability."

He shook the vial again, and a few more bits of white revealed itself.

"It won't last more than ten minutes. Around what year and season did Peder grow into his current state?"

Audrey listened to Adal's explanation, trying to make sense of the information as much as possible. The greater picture and point of the little experiment was simple enough for her to understand, though the mechanics were not something she had a strong handle of. 'Science' was never something her father had spent much time touching upon in her lessons, and with the mages it was mostly time spent working or lessons on magic. ( Which she didn't particularly catch on well to either. ) The information was enough to shake her suspicions until proven wrong, though, and she allowed her shoulders to relax and dropped her arms to her sides once again.

"Alright," she nodded, glancing down toward Peder momentarily, who was much more invested in trying to wipe the elixir off his claws to pay much attention to the academics of the process.

After the boy had mentioned the wait for results the girl decided to make herself more comfortable, stepping closer to the bed before turning to plop herself down on the edge.

"Honestly I'm surprised you know much about--," she paused looking toward the warming bottle, and gesturing toward it," all this. You don't exactly seem all that smart." The Auvinian flashed him a small, confident smile.

The heat was now prickling slightly from the glove he was holding, though he didn't hold any particular mind to it. When he noticed Peder attempting to wipe off the elixir from his hands, he pinched the cork of the bottle with his opposing hand and offered the wolf his glove. "Don't wipe too much of it onto your clothes. It'll effect your sense of smell."

Adal glanced at the girl as she sat the edge of the bed, initially stoic, though his expression immediately soured. His mannerisms soon returned to that of uncaring, and he shrugged.

"Georgie and the doctor are usually the ones to handle this aspect of the meeting. It's common for humans to be wary of what I know. Your reasons for thinking why may differ somewhat, but the sentiment remains the same."

Adal scowled briefly at his damaged feet. "It was my mistake for what happened this afternoon. You would have done me a favor if you'd left me where I was, but I underestimated how stubborn an Auvinian could be."

When Adal offered up his glove to the caedos, he looked up at him wearily before tightening his frown and taking it into his sharp fingers. Immediately he returned his focus to cleaning off his hands, wiping and kneading his claws into the fabric. He did not offer any thanks for the gesture, but did reply with a skeptical," Whatever you say, kid."

While Peder continued to quietly scrape and tear at Adal's glove, Audrey's mocking smile quickly dropped to a grimace. She narrowed her eyes at the anhelo as he spoke before quickly retorting.

"I'm glad you recognize that it was your actions that landed you into the mess that happened earlier," she glowered, obviously annoyed with his statement about their situation," but how about you stop with your shitty ' I would have been better off' comments. Yeah, like hell it would have been a favor to leave you bleeding and crippled in an unfamiliar area. Didn't we have an entire conversation about this already? How about you let if ******** rest and be glad you have a roof and clean bandages for a night?"

The girl huffed, then took a breath to relax herself once she had noticed her voice raising. "You're here. It ******** happened. Complaining about it won't change anything so just stow it, alright?"

Audrey then allowed herself to pause and regain the rest of her composure, letting her mind backtrack through their conversation for another topic that would take them away from arguing about the day's events any further.

"Anyways," she began again, leaning forward to rest her forearms on her lap," You said normally someone else does this? You mentioned 'The Doctor' before, but not the other one... Georgie? Who's that? Another plague?"

Adal watched between the festering vial and Peder kneading at his glove. The material it was made of was deceivingly sturdy, with the inside being fortified by leather and burlap. He shook the vial again, and more bursts of white popped into existence.

The Locos offered Audrey no consolation or remorse for what he had said. It was difficult for him to issue any form of thanks to the girl without being insincere, and he offered only a vague response in return: "If it suits you."

He was glad for the shift in conversation, though his sight was still affixed to the vial. He shook it again-- a small pop roused from the vial, and the petal was now black, unidentifiable mush. "Yes, there's the doctor. Georgie is my Grimm, like you are to Peder," he glanced at Audrey, "I would guess you two are about the same age. He may be older. He's human," as the vial became increasingly bright, he took it away from the candle's fire, "Though I'm not sure why you're so curious."

As Adal held the heated vial, the white glow inside popped unceremoniously, then settled back into a murky black. The smoke inside was still whirling wildly.

"It's ready. I assume you're aware of the six classical elements?"

After Adal had commented on her interest in the name, Audrey merely shrugged at him. "Harmless curiosity," she replied," Just trying to make some idle conversation. I'd rather not sit around awkwardly silent."

In honesty, his response had left her slightly intrigued. Of the handful of plagues she had met, none had been without their Grimm, even those at their anhelo stage. She couldn't say that it was actually an uncommon thing, since the number of these meetings were few, but it still had her wonder. The girl had decided against questioning about it further however, and prepared herself to move onto yet another topic.

This is when the elixir popped, and her eyes immediately darted toward the bottle. The sound had even surprised Peder, who then retreated from his grooming to approach the vile closer to inspect what had happened.

"It's ready. I assume you're aware of the six classical elements?"

"Ah-- yes," she murmured, fascinated momentarily by the smoke that swirled within the bottle before repeating herself more clearly," Yes, I know them."

Adal shook the vial around one last time for good measure. A good layer of black sediment was strewed about at the bottom, with only a few remaining white bits sticking out from the gravel. The steam emitting from what remained of the petal and elixir made it difficult to see against the dim light of the candle, however, and Adal held the vial closer to the candlelight. He leaned forward and pointed at the separate aspects of the bottle, making sure that Audrey and Peder were both paying attention.

"Before Plagues are Anhelo, they are, in essence, purely magic. Excitos reflect this through the makeup of their anatomy. The fact that the vial grew so slowly means that Peder has less magical potential than some of his peers.

"The six classical elements are generally how we break up the composition of their magic, so we can predict what their magic will be like when they become an Anhelo. For example-- the elements light and dark. Simple. The amount of white substance among the black. A symbolic representation of offensive versus defensive magic in Fellowship culture. Peder will have more offensive magic than defensive.

"Water and fire. Barely any elixir left in there that's still liquid-- you can only see it when it reflects-- and there's a lot of smoke. Wind and earth-- grounded sediment versus what's floating. Not very much floating elixir, is there?

"Take the last four classical elements how you will, since they're highly interpretive. Plague functions can be disgustingly symbolically inclined. I'm no poet, so I can't do the work for you, though if you're especially curious, Georgie will receive Peder's information eventually."

Once the vial cooled significantly, he handed Audrey the vial. "See for yourself. If you have any questions, just ask."

Audrey took the vile gingerly into her hands before pulling it close so that she could peer down at it's contents. Everything he had said seemed to make sense, and as she examined the remains of the strange elixir she felt much more compelled to believe in the odd process.

"I guess I'm not surprised that he has less magical potential than most," she commented, turning toward Peder before leaning the short distance across the bed to the bed stand to place the bottle where he could get a better look at it. "I'm pretty s**t at it myself, and he never seemed all that interested himself."

"Don't lump me together with you," the caedos interjected, barking up at his Grimm," Just because you can't manage it doesn't mean I can't. I could do it if I wanted to."

"Yeah? Well let's hope so," Audrey countered, grinning down at the excito," You're not far from being completely useless as it is. Maybe if you learn a few tricks you'll be worth keepin' around."

The wolf growled, and the girl gave a small laugh before setting back into her seat. "I guess I don't really have any questions for you about it," she announced," Though if any more information springs up, from Georgie or whoever, I'd be interested in hearin' it. To me Peder is just like any other dumbass human, but I think it'd be good to actually know something about him as a plague... So I can take better care of him, I guess."

She paused in her thought, and upon realizing the sentimentality of her statement she immediately went on the defensive.

"Since he's my responsibility! Y'know...!"

"Even if you have less magical potential than others, Plagues tend to make up for it in other ways, especially as a Caedos." Servos were less inclined to do the same, which made the Locos somewhat bitter, though that was neither here nor there. He bemusedly watched Audrey and Peder quip with each other before his attentions were focused again on the familiar smell of death looming just beyond the horizon. He was hungry, surely, but he no longer had any inclination to go back to sleep.

"..Since he's my responsibility! Y'know...!"

"Of course," Adal responded, half-taunting, "Though, as a Grimm to a Caedos, you'll be more inclined to give him some more independence than most. They'll grow the quickest that way, if you're at all interested in that." Though the pain in his feet hadn't subsided, the combination of hunger and interaction with Audrey and Peder allowed him some refuge. He finished scribbling some notes into his book, which were keywords and scant definitions that hardly made coherent sentences, then settled it on the bedstand.

"That concludes the formal part of the meeting. I've already noted his behavior with frivolous eating," he stared at Peder, "And unless you have anything else to tell me about yourself that you'd like to understand, that's all the service I can provide." Adal was desperately hungry, but he didn't question if Peder found any physical satisfaction or benefit in eating human food at all. Unlike humans, the Locos had no functioning stomach that growled, but the hunger panged in his head like an obsessive ache.

Adal glanced tiredly at Audrey. He bore the same mannerisms as before he passed out plainly on the floor just hours before, though he was fortunately more cognizant. It was obvious by the delay in his speech that he was reluctant to request anything of the girl, but he did it nevertheless, his glowing eyes staring slightly away from her in concealed embarrassment.

"I... am going to need to step out earlier than I'd previously thought. Do you have anything sturdy to walk with?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 10, 2013 10:50 pm

"What," Audrey turned her face back to the boy when he mentioned wanting to depart and furrowed her brows at him," But it's already dark, and you obviously are not exactly ready to start walking around even if you do have something to support you."

She then got up, and momentarily adjusted the scarf that was tied around her hip before moving toward the bed stand again. "I mean, if you want to try and move to a different part of the house," she mused, picking up the candlestick into her hands," I can try and find my father's old walking stick, but it still would probably be a hell of a lot of pain just to end up sitting in another room."

"I can't promise I'll be able to find it, either," the girl mentioned," it'll probably be harder to find at night too, considering I don't have enough lamps that still have oil to have hung up everywhere."

Adal rubbed his face and shook his head in dismissal. "It's-- nevermind," Adal whispered, then glanced at Audrey, "It's nothing. I was hoping a walk would distract me from some other things. It can wait until the morning."

The Locos took the vial and dropped it unenthusiastically into the satchel. "It's getting late," Adal stared awkwardly at the bed, "Unless this is where you'd like to sleep, I'm getting some rest before tomorrow arrives."
