I was in PT Honolulu last weekend, does anyone have any ideas on all the new post guildpact standard decks?

Same aggro type beats really. The only 'new' archetype put in that seems viable is Owling Mine. Izzetron seems stable enough but doesn't seem to hold up against solid aggro as well as it looks like it does. So I'm going to venture that Aggro, new builds of Tron and crazy howling mine decks are going to take over the 'new' standard.

Actually in many places Howling Mine wont make much of an impact because it auto loses to r/g and zoo, antione ruel (played mine to top8 of honolulu) found out he was matched up against Craig Jones on top 8 (playing zoo) and said he might as well stamp 'bye' on his forehead, that the match is an auto loss, and I watched the match and sure enough it got smashed. The mine deck wrecks the old control decks but wont really have a chance because in most magic communities aggro is a large percentage of the field the you cant afford to auto lose to. The decks did well at the PT due to the wealth of control decks, but small time i don't think it will make it because any donkey playing zoo can crush you. I really like the b/w control deck though, it is very interesting.

You'd be suprised on how well easy it is to correct a match you know you're going to lose. It can beat aggro it just needs a little more help, which someone somewhere will figure out how to do and thus, make it viable. I really dislike B/W because I will always see it as an inferior archetype that got screwed over by the horrible design and power of the cards in Guildpact for orzhov. It could've been so much better but they ruined it with the lack of good stuff for B/W. I really don't like Zoo or R/G either because they classify under the same category as White weenie that being, mindless aggro. Granted, there's a bit more thought in Zoo and R/G then there ever will be in WW. Still all three are pretty much easy to play by any n00b with enough money, and because of that at FNMs across the US we'll see tons of jank zoo and R/G sweatdrop

The last part of viable decks is Izzetron, very weird but effective enough to be tweaked as per metagame and be made into a powerhouse capible of letting you win.

Oh I am not saying I like zoo and r/g, but there will always be tons of randoms playing it becuase it is easy. In the b/w deck you really don't even play that many guildpact cards, because, like you said, most are very underpowered. But b/w made a HUGE showing ant the pt, both control and aggro and 2 versions made top 8. The consensus among the pros that I have talked to about the mine deck is you could devote all 15 cards in your sideboard to the aggro match up and still make it only 40% in your favor, or you can just accept it as a loss an dmove on. Think of it this way, when nearly every card in a deck costs 2 or less an dyou are forcing them to draw 2-3 extra cards a turn all you are doing is refueling there hand and then they play even more dudes. Any deck that relies on forcign your oppponent to draw more cards is theoretically going to get bashed by a deck where all the cards cost one or two, you are just giving them more spells to play so they beat you faster. And making your opponent draw is the only way for that deck to win. Dont get me wrong I love the idea of the mine deck and I wish it would be playable against those decks, but when even the pro's count it as lost there isnt much else you can do. To make it better against aggro you would have to completely change the point of the deck (as in not rely on making your oppponent draw) and then it just becomes a completely different deck.

Do they have a Worlds Tournament every year? Cause me and my friends like to get the Top4 decks and play with those every once and awhile. We were waiting for the Kamigawa stuff so we could see what decks got top spots.

I watched the PT Hon. on my computer that Saturday night and Sunday night. Pretty wide range of decks played (saw the list at starcitygames.com of every deck). Only thing, you will see a lot of zoo and gruul beats now since they place 1st and 2nd. Izztron was great. I can see why Osyp Lebedowicz, took out black in his build and went U/r instead of U/r/b, better mana base and still has great match-ups verus aggro and other forms of control (love the URaztron deck out right, been playing it since champs last year). With, B/W, it looks really good. The build seems solid verus other aggro decks and seems it could hold up very well to control. With, the Howling Owl deck, I really don't think it will be as big as people claim it will be after this. It has been playing a lot on MTGO, and has won some of the online tounrys. It is true that it has extremely great match-ups to control and seems to die horrible to aggro, but I think the only reason why it did so well, is because people really did not expect it at the PT. It's awesome that combo (Heartbeat Combo) made an appearance in the top 8 at the PT Hon. A really great deal to us combo players, for having it make it that far. But, only time will tell, for what will be the new deck to beat, all I can say is that right now the metagame is extremely big and has a lot of choices to pick from when it comes down to people picking a deck to play.
