"Shut up..." Sparrow mumbled as her mother began to talk, not making eye contact. Then they just continued on... and on... and on. Looking up after her mom's admittance, she repeated herself, her teeth and hands clenched. "Shut. Up." It was what he said, talking about how he'd gotten her pregnant, his look of guilt and uncertainly that set her off. Calmly walking closer to him, tears barely visible in the edges of her eyes, she slapped him, her claws swiftly cutting the skin as they made contact. There was a sort of primal anger in her eyes, piercing into his own, as she glared at him. He was the enemy, he was going to ruin everything.
He had to go; she had to get rid of him.
Gasping, Twinkleshine moved to grab her daughter's shoulder as she stuck out a him, much to her resistance. "Sparrow dear! Stop this! You should be happy for us, for the baby. I can finally give you a real family; you can finally have a father and a brother or sister. Why are you being like this...? I raised you better than this!" The words just... came out without thought, leaving her silent as she realized what she was saying.

Ocie didn't really react much to being slapped. He deserved it. He knew Sparrow wasn't going to be accepting of the entire situation. What he did do, however, was to get Twinkle out of the way. She wasn't going to get in the way. Not when she was pregnant. "Stand back Twinkle, she's more mad at me than you right now."
He held back a wince, knowing how much this entire thing was going to hurt everyone involved. Maybe it was just going to be a physical pain for him, but for Twinkle and Sparrow? It was going to be a really bad emotional hurt. He really didn't like the thought of Twinkle's feelings getting hurt. Not right now.

Pushing her mother's hand off of her shoulder, she turned her glare to her. "Oh, I'm sorry! Was I not good enough to be a part of a real family for you? Is blood really all that matters?" She practically spat out the last words. "Or maybe you've just tired of having a monster as a child." No... She would have nothing to do with being replaced. That was just too painful. "Are you saying my entire life has been a lie?!" Her feathers were bristling as a cat's fur might out of anger.
From what she had seen.. No... He was not the problem. The hesitation, the weariness... As her eyes carefully studied him, she understood; this man was only here because she was binding him to her with these offspring. If she could remove them, that would kill two fish with one net. Slowly, carefully, she returned her eyes on the woman, or more particularly, on her chest, her pupils narrowing.
Even if it would force her away from there forever, banish her as a beast, at least her uncle could hopefully find a way to have her heart.
Figuratively, of course.
The fauny stepped back slowly behind Ocie as he pushed her back. She couldn't believe it... Where had her kind, gentle songbird gone? Who was this terrifying creature looking to her? Just what... just how could she have changed so much...?
Had she failed? Was that why she was so frightened?

Ocie's eyes widened, gently pushing Twinkle back a bit more. He didn't know what this teen was capable of, but he didn't want the mother of his children hurt. Not while she was still in such a delicate condition.
"Are you insane Sparrow?" He began, moving forward. If someone was going to get hurt, he knew it was going to be him. He'd much rather it be him than Twinkle or Sparrow. "She loves you with all her heart. If you think for even an instant that she'd turn you out you're an idiot!" The sprite practically growled. Sparrow had no idea how lucky she was to have such a wonderful mother. To have a nice home, a steady place to stay. It was something he would've loved as a child. Something he wanted the little ones growing inside Twinkle to have.
"If you really think she doesn't care about you, you should try live the way others live for a week."

Just like that, in an instant, her focus was back on the man, the immediate threat. "What do you know?!" she hissed, stepping closer to him. "How long have you even known her? A month?!" Her hands pushed against his chest, making sure her nails dug into it before pushing it. "A home-wrecker, that's all you are, all you'll ever be!" Feathers bristling, her wings flared up behind her, meant to be intimidation.

He wasn't impressed by her show of wings. Sure, it was meant to make her appear a larger threat. He'd seen his mother do it when she got in his face. No, Ocie was sent reeling by her comment. A home-wrecker. First he'd ruined his mothers life by being born, he was ruining Twinkle's life with her daughter by even being here, and Sparrow just thought him the scum of the earth. What was he going to do to his own children? They'd probably be far better off without him in their life. This little feathered girl was right, as much as he hated to admit it.
"Count your blessings Sparrow. Your mother loves you." His red eyes had narrowed into a glare. This feathered girl could make him bleed, sure. Hell, his chest was stinging fairly well right now, but she'd never know how to truly hurt until she realized what she was doing. "Enjoy your life of luxury. Nothing ever turns the way you expect it to. Except... Pain. That's always there. It'll never go away."

"If my real mother had loved me, she would have kept me instead of casting me to be raised by someone else." As much as she tried, as much as she had truly believed that she could completely accept having an adoptive mother, moments like this exasperated the tensions she felt about the situation. She still loved her, yes, but that love had changed to something... different... than that from her childhood. "Oh, such luxury I have. A small room in a house near nothing and only one friend to speak of. That left. Sounds simply wonderful to me! I have no idea what I even am, where I even came from. I can't even fly yet!" She scowled, eyes narrowing, "And just when I thought I might get used to that anyways, here you come, trying to worm yourself into something where you don't belong, where you'll never belong."
Her eyes moving to look at Twinkle, she looked at the faun, hands shaking, with mere contempt. "For you... You should be ashamed of yourself."

Ocie just sighed, he was still reeling from being called a home wrecker. It had hit him too close to home. Closer than he'd ever want to admit. "Sparrow... Regardless of how much you hate me and what I've done, you shouldn't be this mean to Twinkle. She's done so much for you, with no reason to aside from the sheer amount of love she has for you." He was resigned to Sparrow hating him for ever laying eyes on Twinkleshine.
"Hate me all you want, don't turn it on her. She didn't ask for any of this." The teen could hate him all she wanted. Anything to keep her from hating Twinkle for his mistakes. "I'm not going to pretend that I don't understand why you can't stand to be around me, or anything else for that matter. I know why you get mad when I'm even in the area. But really, Sparrow, count your blessings. Twinkle loves you, tried to give you a family when you had none. I would do the same if you ever gave me the chance. I'd even try to teach you to fly if you wanted it. But all you do is scream and yell at us. Try, just try, to see how the other side feels?"

"Like hell I would ever want someone like you teaching me to fly. You. Are. Not. My. Family. You never will be." She practically spat the words out, each sound seeming to hiss from her lips. Her eyes looked back to Twinkle, glaring fiercely, before looking back at Ocie. "If she really didn't want any of this to happen, not even a little, it wouldn't have. Simple as that."
Something seemed to turn off at that moment as her eyes left the fauny's appearance. The bird appeared to be less aggravated, the heat of anger gone from her eyes, leaving only coldness. It was more frightening to see her this way, acting truly on her hunter's instinct and ridding herself of this unnecessary emotional baggage.
If for the moment.
Carefully folding her wings behind her, she simply turned and began to walk away."Sparrow! Dear... Where are you going...?!" The fauny called out, her hands nearly shaking from the emotions. Her cheeks were reddened and stained with tears that continues to fall in warm drops.
There was no answer, so she called out again, "Sparrow!?" Louder. "Sparrow!?!" Her voice was beginning to crack. "Sparrow!" She slowly slumped to the ground wrapping her arms around herself, calling yet again in a voice barely above a whisper. "Baby... please... please come back to me..."
"I'm sorry..."

Ocie winced as Sparrow turned to leave. The damage was done, there was no reversing it. None that wouldn't make him leave the children that Twinkle was carrying, and even then he had a feeling that wouldn't work. While the male might have been resigned to this fate, it was very apparent this was going to hurt his female counterpart in the long run. There was a good chance he would never be able to make this up to her.
"Twinkle..." He gently touched her shoulder, trying to be comforting. It was still so different to him to be kind, to show and to feel the warmth of gentleness. After a mother that reminded him very much of a refined Sparrow, Ocie wasn't sure how to try and cheer the fauny up. But then, maybe he could?
"It... It gets better... She'll come back for you..." He didn't want to tell her he'd probably not be anywhere near them if and when that happened. The young one's words had cut him deeply. Deeper than the wounds on his chest... All he knew was that he didn't want to see Twinkle like this. It wasn't right or fair to her in the least.

The fauny jolted lightly at Ocie's touch, taking a few moment before looking up and over to him. Tears still fell down her cheek in warm streams as she repeatedly bit her lip in an attempt to quiet them. Her hand lifted up to brush her cheek, the eyes squinting shut in the process as a softly ragged breath escaped her lips. "Do... Do you really think so...?" There was a part of her that wanted to believe him, to just brush off the events as nothing more than a display of teenage hormones.
But those eyes...
They had seemed so empty... So emotionless... It wasn't her little bird looking at her at that moment, not as she knew her to be anyways. It was an entirely different being, one that she didn't know what to think of, one who was foreign to her understanding.
As much as she hoped it could be forgotten, Twinkleshine knew that things could never be the same between them again.

Ocie nodded, gently pulling Twinkle into his arms. He floated just a bit above her, to give her a literal shoulder to cry on. All the while not saying anything about her tears. He cared for her, deeply. Far more than he had anything else in his life. Was it because she was carrying his baby? Who knew? Who cared, even?
The male gently stroked her hair, trying to soothe her. "I do Twinkle, it has to get better." He tried to comfort her. No matter how different or strange it felt to try and comfort another, this was all he could offer her. Ocie had never felt as soft as she was, but then, he'd grown up with a harsher Sparrow for a mother. There wasn't a chance to let things like this hurt him. He'd just make it worse...
"It will take her some time to come around, but she will... She will.." At the very least, he would leave often enough for Sparrow to make her way back into the house to see Twinkle. The sprite just wished she would come to her senses and come back...
