↳ Introduction ↴↻ What is this topic about? The aim of this topic is to show you all what we expect from the guild. You've all seen the rules, and now we will show you what the rules mean. This thread will list all the major issues that pop up in guilds and typical roleplays, so instead of just reading about what we expect, you can actually see it. Visual guidance is usually a lot easier to understand than written, so I hope this guide will help everyone out.↻ Subjects covered: We will be covering a range of the most common faults we see in the guild, everything from profiles to post content. It will only be the most common issues that will be addressed here; any other issue not covered that you're confused or curious about, quote myself, Captain Tapole or Color Me Fubar. We are here to help, and we will give constructive criticism when needed, and this will be covered as well↳ The Topics ↴↺ Posting: What a 400 word post looks like plus examples.↺ Profiles: How long the biography should be. ↳ Posting ↴↻ What a 400 word post looks like: This is the biggest issue we face at the guild: trying to get everyone to keep to the word limit. We will let posts slide if they are 360 words up, but nothing less. Please use websites like word counter or my writing spot to double check your post length. If we see one that looks too short, you can be sure we will check the length, and if we find it to be under 360 words, we will PM you and let you know. If we find this happens on a regular occasions, you will be warned. Persistently writing under the word limit will result in you being removed from the guild (after warnings of course) as you are disobeying the rules we set in place to keep things fair for everyone. BB code does not count towards the word limit, and as stated in the rules, neither does layout coding. This is what a 400 word post looks like size-wise:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed non vulputate diam. Nam ut facilisis quam. Quisque a malesuada leo. Proin egestas tristique nunc, quis feugiat justo rutrum et. Maecenas vel lorem lacus, sed vulputate lacus. Suspendisse commodo gravida leo quis sodales. Aliquam erat volutpat. Phasellus hendrerit, urna ut posuere aliquet, lacus risus convallis elit, eu porta diam libero vitae nunc. Nunc euismod tincidunt lorem at elementum. Nunc id tortor in elit venenatis scelerisque.
Fusce tristique rhoncus sapien vitae tristique. Praesent at sapien lacus.↻ Notes:- Proof reading goes a long way. - Commas and full stops should be used properly. If you read your sentence out loud and you're pausing too much, too many full stops. Full stops are the long pause, while commas are the short breath in between. - Read it out loud. If it makes sense, great! If not, you know what to do. If you're not sure, you can either post it or rewrite it.

↳ Profiles ↴ ↻ Biography: The biography is what happened in your characters past before they wound up as a slave. Be creative with this; if all you write is "they were born here, they lived a simple life, they were caught, now they're a slave", you're not building a character. It's nice to have some history to your character, especially if they're something rare: their background usually explains their personality too, so a good biography is very important. The minimum for a biography is 200 words. This is what 200 words looks like size-wise:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed non vulputate diam. Nam ut facilisis quam. Quisque a malesuada leo. Proin egestas tristique nunc, quis feugiat justo rutrum et. Maecenas vel lorem lacus, sed vulputate lacus. Suspendisse commodo gravida leo quis sodales. Aliquam erat volutpat. Phasellus hendrerit, urna ut posuere aliquet, lacus risus convallis elit, eu porta diam libero vitae nunc. Nunc euismod tincidunt lorem at elementum. Nunc id tortor in elit venenatis scelerisque.
Suspendisse placerat, libero id rhoncus euismod, lectus orci feugiat diam, quis pretium mi mauris in metus. Vestibulum scelerisque cursus malesuada. Vestibulum ante ipsum primis in faucibus orci luctus et ultrices posuere cubilia.
↻ Personality: A character's personality is what makes them unique. It's what makes them act the way they do, and it is the true master of the slave, and is even the master of the masters. If a character has a simple personality, how are we to figure out if they are right for us? What if they like punishment and the character you want to match them with doesn't? Those personalities will never work together, and a storyline just won't work out well if one person is expecting punishment and the other person has no intention of writing it. Don't forget to fill out the talents, quirks and skills as well. These are important to a person's personality as they are the little extras that make them special. The length of a personality should be no smaller than five or six sentences. This is what the personality length should look like size-wise:
Vivamus libero dolor, sagittis sit amet porta vel, pulvinar vel massa. Suspendisse pharetra urna et lacus vestibulum id fermentum nulla sodales. Pellentesque odio turpis, lacinia ut aliquet sit amet, pharetra fermentum ipsum. Suspendisse placerat, libero id rhoncus euismod, lectus orci feugiat diam, quis pretium mi mauris in metus. Duis vestibulum est vel est pulvinar ornare. Suspendisse auctor, lectus quis fringilla pharetra, mi erat dictum turpis, at aliquam arcu odio sit amet quam.
↺ Notes on a character's personality: Listed below are things you should consider when creating a character:
- Do they have flaws? No-one is perfect, and no-one should be perfectly flawed. Everybody has flaws - I for one let people walk all over me, and I have to eat all 5 colours/flavours of Skittles at once. These are quirks that make me different to some other people, but at the same time I'm not the only one that does it.
- Are they so hot that men/women drop to their knees in love at the sight of them? Then this is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu. Even succubi/incubi can't do that on a permanent basis. No character should ever be that attractive.
- Are they goth/emo/depressed/mute? So are half the population of Sue's and Stu's. Take a look around and see how many characters fall into that category; if there's a few, maybe rethink your character.
- Is she/he a virgin and completely innocent, but are a sexual deviant the moment they are kissed? Then stop now. This is a classic Sue and Stu trait. Innocence and naivety are traits that can be incredibly fun if done right. While people can be promiscuous and yet be a virgin, if you're going to go down that path make it very clear that they like kissing, cuddling and being looked at in sexy clothing, but sleeping with people is something they won't do.
- Aww, is she/he shy? So why are they being so loud? Another common mistake. A shy person is just that: shy. If you're confused, look up the definition. Shy people won't try and be the life of the party, just like an introvert won't go up and hug someone. People can change though, so if there's a chance they will come out of their shell, please make sure to note it as a "down the track" just-in-case.
- "My character is a hydromancer that is immune to fire and who is a God/Goddess that breathes snow. You can't hurt them and they rule over you." If we see any character in the guild like this, you will be immediately asked to re-write them. Not only is it extreme Sue/Stu behaviour, but it is also god-modding. We do not tolerate god-modding.
