So much fun shouldn't be allowed. She had barely been in summer and already Hoku decided this was the season she wanted to be in. The longer days made fun last, well...Longer! The sun made everyone want to come out and enjoy the weather. And the things to find! The ground was littered with them, all over the place! The little cub had already managed to scrap together a little bird's nest of trinkets. Bones, flowers, pretty rocks, and strange objects. This one looked like a hairpin. And there was a piece of leather woven into a rope. Maybe if she could get her mother to rip off some hide on her next hunting trip Hoku could do something with it and all this treasure. Her body nearly shook with excitement at it. Imagine all the things she could create! Maybe she could make her father a nice necklace the next time she saw him. She wished she could hurry up and grow up so she could go visit him without her mother or Noe having to take her in their mouths. The blue cub understood it was easier to carry her, but she still loathed it. Just because she was little didn't mean she couldn't walk on her own!

Hoku stared at an ugly rock and flicked it away with a swap of her paw. She wanted to be big now. She hated being small. If she decided to go with the summer clan it would be a whole year before she could officially help out. It was so unfair!

Letting a sigh escape her lips, the cub sat down, plopping further to lay down with her paws in front of her, cradling her little nest. There was a silver lining in this. A year was plenty of time for her to start thinking about what she wanted to do for next summer. And with her mother an Entertainer, perhaps the adult could give Hoku opinions on the things she made. If they could be used for a sport or as a prize.

Yes. That's what she would do. Later. Right now she wanted to enjoy her little hoard of treasures alone for a bit longer.
