It had taken a couple of days to wake up, and even though she had laid in bed...It had even taken longer to adjust to the sudden imbalance of sight. On her left, she saw nothing but inky blackness...On her right was such a vividness that it blinded her in its own way. Where one eye lacked, the other was trying hard to make up.

Her arm shifted in the sling as she resisted the urge to tear at the bandage, Leroy's voice berating her. It was only thanks to Stormy that the huntress was even able to walk. Once she had woken, Stormy had been patient, kind and understanding about it.

It didn't relieve the thoughts of uselessness that Nevada had. What good was a shooter who only had one eye to shoot with?

The thoughts troubled her, hounded her. Discouraged her. She couldn't think of much else to do at the moment, the time too fresh. It was too soon to try and figure out a magical way to see.

But she did want to report to Aria or Lance about the mishap. Though she had heard Candace had sent the alert out for trainee's, she didn't feel comfortable telling the huntress about the student that had not only taken out Otto, but another full hunter, herself and Stormy. A turn past the Mist lounge and she reached her destination, taking a breath.

She struggled at first, reaching out and forgetting that distance would be messed up, stepped closer....Rapping on the door twice and listening for the okay to come in.

"Come in." It was Aria's voice. When Nevada would stumble into the room, she would find both Aria and Lance sitting across from one another studying a game of colorful tiles between them. The tiles clinked softly against one another as Aria made her move, at last looking up to see who entered. A look of shock crossed her face. "What happened to you?"

Lance turned, then moved to get up. He grimaced, instead gesturing towards an empty chair nearby.

Nevada took another breath before struggling with the door. Jesus, it wasn't hard nevada. She berated herself again as it slid open and the leaders were....

playing checkers, Board games???

She wondered secretly if she relapsed into her coma but decided not since Aria and Lance's face both reacted to the damage to herself. She wanted to shrug and smile and say the Job but she was trying to be professional and serious. And not cry because the look also told her just how useful she may or may not be.

"I didn't mean to disturb but I had something to report..." She nodded to Lance, moving slowly to the chair and taking a seat. If not a little bit to the right. After adjusting a bit, she rested her back against it. "Thank you sir." She took a breath.

"I was in the haunted house, routine walk through for FEAR levels and extraction when I was attacked by a student." She clipped her voice, wishing the memories didn't make her feel like she could do much more, "We engaged in a battle...And I thought I had the advantage when...She possessed my body Sir." That was the first bomb she supposed.

Not quite. The tiles were colorful, far more colorful than checkers. They were also the only thing on the board, however the board was forgotten as both superiors focused on the trainee.

They stayed silent, waiting for her to continue. Aria gave a slow, encouraging nod.

Nevada faltered then brought her hand up to the white infirmary bandage.

"Um, Sorry. I was uh..." She closed her eye and then opened. "So she possesed me. I was unable to regain my body, even with Leroy pushing and it...she? I believe it was a she started talking with my body. But I will refer to It for now." Another pause. "It told me that I didn't have the right to be there. It also told me that this wasn't it's first attack like this. It broke my arm while it did that. I felt the pain." She shuddered. "I felt it, but couldn't do anything."

"Um...It told me that it attacked other hunters too, Otto. I know one is Otto from the death division. Stormy from our division too. Before I knew her. Someone else. I didn't find out who." She started to press the bandage, as if remembering was hard and causing pain again. In truth, it was a headache from the strain.

"Then it went to a mirror, and I watched as it took my hand and scraped its nails down my eye. I couldn't close it, so blood flooded it." She closed her eye again, "The infirmary doctors told me that my arm will heal. The damage to my eye though is severe and though it didn't require to remove the organ, I will be blind in it from now on. My left eye..."

She laced her hands together, "To finish this...The creature went to stab me, before being ripped from my body and leaving me unconscious. I heard that Candace was the one to find me and bring me home. After that, I also heard I've been in a coma for two weeks."

"As the damage is now Sirs....What will happen to me?" Will I still be able to become a mist hunter? The thought almost broke out but...she wasn't ready. Not quite yet.

When Nevada had finished, Aria sighed and began to rub her temples. A hush fell over the room, the silence broken by the division leader quietly counting backwards under her breath. At last she stood, walking around the desk until she stopped in front of Nevada.

SLAP!

Aria backhanded Nevada across her right cheek before both hands slammed down on her shoulders. "You idiot!" Aria snapped at her. "What the hell were you thinking, going into the Haunted House?! You're not nearly experienced enough and look where it got you! When we tell you things you damn well better listen!"

The division leader pushed away from the trainee, turning her back to her. A hand was raised to pinch the bridge of her nose as she began walking back to her desk.

She stopped, turning to march back to Nevada in order to jab a finger in front of her face. "What the hell were you thinking?! You were goddamnibly lucky, all things considered."

"As for what to do with you..." Aria trailed off, looking towards Lance. "Suggestions?"

Lance began to look thoughtful.

The silence unnerved her for the reason that it was silence. Even Leroy was hushed in her mind, working most likely on easing the pain from her headache and the pain from her arm. Little things he could take care of.

When Aria walked around the desk, she had a brief moment of relief. Was Aria checking to see the damage and to see if she would still-

The slap echoed off the walls of the office. The shock fell into resentment into acceptance as she placed her good hand over it.

"I'm sorry." Was all she could offer, seeing as she had been sent there for routine. Though not by mist orders. "It will not happen again."

"Does....Forgive me, does this mean I will stay as a mist hunter then?" Nevada struggled for a moment. "Even if I am blind my eye?"

PostPosted: Fri Jul 26, 2013 7:37 pm

Aria shrugged. "That depends. Do you wish to stay? Or do you want to try your luck elsewhere?" Aria gestured towards Lance, adding, "Keep in mind that not all divisions are as... considerate."

"Harsh," Lance winced, holding his hands up. "But Aria's got a point, Nev. You're still recovering, and you said yourself that you can't see out of one of your eyes. You're not exactly going to be useful to any of the other divisions. Sun and moon? No two working eyes, even though your weapon doesn't need to be accurate you can't spray bullets all over the place. Death? You're not going to be pushing files any time soon. Life?" He shook his head. "You're better off sticking with us, but it's up to you. Hell, I can't walk and I'm still here."

Lance shrugged, adding, "Of course, if you stay here you're going to have to face the music. And by the looks of things, Aria looks like she wants to throw something."

With a hollow clonk, Aria carefully placed the vase she had picked up back onto the desk.

"No." Nevada smiled, "Consequences or not, I need mist." She looked at Aria, "The mist are my family, I won't give up on them if they don't give up on me." Roland, Stormy and Candace. Those were her family in here. Lance and Aria too.

Her attention turned to Lance and smiled, just briefly. "I am sure you are kept around for more than your ruggish good looks handsome and convenient transportation." She sighed, "Leroy says with practice, the shooting will come back to me but....I am scared of shooting him at random. I'm scared of battling again. I'm just...scared."

"Consequences...." She wanted to add that she had faced a lot already but there was orders and discipline. The haunted house had been a site for danger already and she had waltzed in without letting anyone know.

"I...I understand." She looked over at her leader, "I'm sorry I disappointed you Sir." She waited, "What....will be done then?'' She asked about the creature....but also about herself.

Another sigh from Aria, this one lighter than the other. Relief, perhaps? "That's good to hear," her tone was softer now, yet there was still a hint of an edge lurking beneath the softness. "But regardless, you placed yourself in unnecessary danger. The Haunted House is never to be taken lightly. Halloween is never to be taken lightly."

The division leader approached Nevada again, this time grabbing her good hand. With a snap a suppressant bracelet was attached, the runes quietly fluttering to life as the division leader activated them. "This is to ensure that you don't do anything else," Aria began, "Except get better. You will help out with paperwork while you aren't recovering. That is your primary objective: get better. I have no use for half-dead Mists, even less trainees."

Lance rolled forward, adding, "This is more for your own benefit than anyone else's. You're also banned from the practice field, so no practicing with another weapon. You'll turn the Mists into the laughing stock of Deus if you collapse on the practice field and have to be hauled back. As far as your fear goes..."

He trailed off as Aria stepped back, returning to the desk. "You're useless as you are. Don't concern yourself with revenge, take the time to think and plan. I didn't get mine for awhile, not until I had a group I could trust who'd help me out and let me get a turn." As he spoke he patted his legs, looking at her beneath his lashes. "While my looks have gotten me this far, it's having those you can count on that'll take you further. We could easily go in and... take care of it for you," he began slowly, "But ultimately, what good will it do for you? This is... something you will need to decide what you want to do. If you want to put a bounty out, that's up to you. If you want revenge, that's fine. But you're not going to face it right now. The last thing we need is another dead trainee."

Lance sighed, slumping in his chair. "It's damn hard enough to find female Mists now anyway."

The tone almost surprised her, but then it was something she didn't expect at all. her conversations with Aria hadn't been unpleasant but....they had been official and proper.

She jumped as her hand was grabbed, looking down at the bracelet that gleamed with lights and runes. Leroy hissed in her brain, cursing at what Aria said. Nevada on the other hand....broke down.

"I was so scared that you'd tell me I couldn't stay or be a hunter anymore." She curled in the chair, "I woke up and my first thought is that they'd send me home...or just kill me off. I thought...I thought a lot..." She laughed, ducking her head down.

"I don't want you too. Nor would Otto, Stormy or the other hunter this creature attacked. I'll wait." Her eye looked up to meet his, "I'll wait till I'm better, stronger, faster. Smarter."

His comment startled her and then made her laugh even more. Through the tears. God.

"I hear our division is turning right into a sausage fest. When I'm better...Can I train with you guys?" She frowned, "When you aren't busy and can spare a couple of minutes. I know you guys aren't...suffering from the same problem but...anything to help me get stronger...I'll take." She looked at Aria too, "Were you really going to throw your nice vase?"

"That's not how we do things in the Mists," Aria said sharply. "Even if they are idiots, they're still our idiots. We aren't as... wasteful as other divisions. We'll find a use for you, even if your injuries never recover." Aria approached Nevada again, this time holding out a box of kleenex for her to take.

"True story." Lance jerked a thumb towards himself. "I should've been podded, then quietly taken off life support. No use for a Sun hunter who can't fight. But as far as training goes..." The assistant shook his head. "If you trained with us as soon as you healed, you'd go right back into the infirmary. Ask Candace for help once your cuff comes off and she'll set you on the right path. If you can't sleep at night, go talk to Molly or Cass. They can help you with that, too."

She took the kleenex, sniffling a bit into it and laughing. She had made right into a mess didn't she. "Which is why I won't leave mist. So as long as you guys need me, I will perform." She looked up at Aria and then to Lance, "If anything I suppose I could become a master at something on the Island like Mark and Dwight and have hacking wars with them or something."

"Candace for training, Molly and Cass for support." She nodded, standing up...if not wobbly at first. "I'll work on healing first. So no mission stuff for me."

Part of her wanted to whisper boring but with her arm how it was and her eye.

"Lance? When you got your revenge....what did it feel like?"
