My parents named me: Chrysanthemum Akerley-Hale
But I respond to: Her family calls her Chryssa, but most other people just call her Chrysanthemum.
I was born in: Cinnabar Island, in Kanto.
I'm still this young: Seventeen
I appear to be: She looks a bit younger, around fifteen.
I was born on this day: August 29th
Beauty at it's finest: She's exactly five feet tall and weighs ninety-four pounds. (152.4 cm/42.6 kg)
My eyes reflect: A bright pinkish violet.
You may say my skin is: Pale, albeit rather scarred.
Inventory: Pokedex, several Pokeballs, Pokegear, a medical kit, dried food
I live in: Her home is in Lavender Town, but she's currently travelling.
I waste my time on: Drawing, training Pokemon, learning music
I am: Demisexual- She doesn't experience sexual attraction to anyone unless she's formed a deep emotional bond with them. Gender wise, she doesn't care in the least.
On the surface: Despite all that's happened to her, she's a very kind and cheerful, albeit somewhat quiet, sort of girl with a love for cute things...which is why some people find her equally intense love for ghost-type Pokemon surprising. She's quick to help others and perhaps a little too trusting, though it has yet to cause her problems.
But deep down: For the most part, Chrysanthemum's early childhood was relatively normal. As the second child of a Pokemon breeder and an aspiring nurse, she learned to love and care for Pokemon at an early age. Her family lived on Cinnabar Island, and while they weren't particularly well off, they were happy and never went to bed hungry, so their lack of wealth didn't bother them. However, their incredibly peaceful life was ruined one night...the same night that the entire island changed forever.
"No matter how much time passes, I don't think I'll ever forget. I was ten at the time. The night seemed so quiet before we went to bed...but we were woken up a few hours later by the feeling of the earth shaking beneath us. My big sister and I shared a room at the time and I remember her yelling at me to get under my bed. We just thought it was an earthquake. When it stopped though, there was a foreboding feeling in the air...something just didn't seem right. That's when we heard it. The boom. It was incredibly loud and the sheer volume of it made the house tremble and one my sister's eardrum break. At that point, everything just became chaotic. My sister started to cry from pain, my parents came running into our room, telling us stuff that I don't remember anymore. What I do remember though was the smell. It was incredibly strong and I didn't recognize it at the time. It was the smell of fire. Fire and ash. You see, Cinnabar is home to a large volcano, one that nearly takes up half of the island. It was thought to be dormant...how wrong we were. It had erupted. Unfortunately for us, our house was relatively close to the base of the mound, so it took almost no time at all for our house to catch fire. We tried to get out, but it honestly didn't work very well. My sister was dizzy from her broken eardrum, so my dad had to carry her and it slowed us down. He told me and my mom to run, but my mom didn't want to leave them behind and I didn't want to be alone...we all ended up getting trapped by the flames. My parents knew there was no escape and threw themselves over us to try and keep us safe until someone came to help us. Eventually, someone with a Blastoise did come and they put out enough fire to clear us a path to the door. At the time, I couldn't even focus on what was happening anymore. All I knew was that my skin was burned up and my hair had disintegrated. That was the last thing I remember before waking up in a hospital bed nearly two days later. They told me...they t-told me the entire town was gone...a lot of the p-people had evacuated, but most h-hadn't made it out...my parents...my parents had burned t-to death before the person who r-rescued us even arrived...and my big sister had died a few hours later from her injuries. I was alone..."
After a few months in the hospital, Chrysanthemum was put up for adoption and was taken in by a couple who already had a foster child; a little blind girl named Grace that was a few years younger than her new sister. Had it not been for her, Chrysanthemum probably wouldn't have taken so well to her new family, but Grace had a charm that Chrysanthemum couldn't help but fall in love with. Her foster parents used their connection as a way to wiggle themselves into their new daughter's life and eventually, they became a happy patchwork family (so much so that Chrysanthemum started hyphenating their last name with her original one, with theirs in front). A few years later, when she was fourteen, her foster father went to Unova on a business trip. However, when he returned, he bought home a little 'souvenir': an Oshawott that he had found lying in a city park, beaten and bruised. Judging by his skittish personality when it came toward humans, he had either been abused or had lost a trainer battle and was left to die. After both her foster father and foster mother failed to bond with the water Pokemon, they allowed Chrysanthemum to try her hand at befriending him. After some hard work, she succeeded. Her sweet little Oshawott now never leaves her side and she cares for him like one would a child.
