A spell to empower your book of shadows.

Timing: Full moon
Supplies: 2 tea lights, black cord, book of shadows, holy water, pentacle (it can be one you drew yourself) wand or athame, incense.

Cleans ritual area with the 4 elements.
Cast circle. An easy one to do is take your wand and walk clockwise while visualizing a blue flame encircling you and ritual area like a bubble. Say "In this place, this circle round, I consecrate this sacred ground, with golden light this place surround, all power here contained and bound."
Call quarters. At each direction with athame or finger, draw an invoking pentagram and plunge athame through the center of pentagram while inviting in the corresponding element. Say " east element of air, I ask you to attend my circle. (should have drawn pentacle while saying and now poke through center of pentagram). Repeat for all directions.

Place book of shadows open to first page on pentacle. Place a tea candle on each side of the open book of shadows. Drape cord over book. Align yourself with dirty. Example would be Thoth, god of wisdom, magic, knowledge, writing. You can simply say "I align myself with Thoth" to help you envision his energies.

Place hands on book, say "bless this book in your name to be a tool for me on my path to knowledge. Protect this book so it shall not be taken from me."

Close book and tie with cord, say "by knot of one the spells begun (tie loose knot with cord around book.) By knot of two this spells come true. ( tie another knot) By knot of three so mote it be. (tie last knot)"

Pick up wand and draw invoking pentagram over book, say "herethis pentacle I now lay for protection both night and day."

Thank diety (Thoth). " thank you Thoth."

Release quarters by starting with the last element invoked. Example: if you started in the east, you ended in the north so as you release start in north. Draw banishing pentagram. Say "North element of earth thank you for attending. You may go."

Open circle by walking counter clockwise with wand, while envisioning circle being drawn up into wand, say " this circle is open but never broken, merry Ye meet, and merry ye part, unroll we merry meet again."
