I think this is a nifty idea. I used to use glue guns a lot at school for projects and all. When putting it away on the counter/in a cabinet it would get glue everywhere and it just didn't look good.
So, here's something I found that can make your crafting space look nicer and avoid the aftermath of glue guns.
