I'm curious, does anyone else volunteer? :3 I currently volunteer for a cat rescue, and a no kill shelter. I also occasionally play guitar for the elderly in veterans hospitals with a group of other people. (I do this because I like to be productive, but I can't seem to find a job. D: There's too much competition in NYC)
I'm just a bit curious, and I'd like to know: 1. Where do you volunteer? 2.How long have you been doing it? 3.What do you have to do?
I'm more interested in what you have to do hehe ^_^

I actually volunteer at a bookstore called "The Last Bookstore." Actually I am doing this for the same reason as you that I can't seem to find a job and I just need to get out of this household. I usually volunteer there every Thrusdays and Fridays from 12pm to 2pm. I just shelf books on the second floor at the back room(this room has all books and such for a 1 dollar), as easy as it sounds its not easy when the bookcases are badly made. Right now, I am currently doing this for the summer until I start my fall classes thats when I'll be taking a hiatus for time being until winter. I have actually talked to the owner of the bookstore about trying to get a job there (still trying to get a job there. I fell in love with the bookstore and I would love to work there.) I have been doing this since I think after I basically quit my job which was around fall or winter. I just started back up again on this volunteer thing because I decided not to take summer classes and I didnt want to be stuck at home. Its fun for me to voluntter there. I get to see people from different places of the world at this bookstore. I actually have a few pictures of the place. Here are some pictures if you like see them The Last BookstoreThats basically it. sweatdrop I have such a boring life.

Whoa! That place is massive! It sounds fun volunteering at a book store, I might look into doing something like that, working with animals can be a little tiring. SO MUCH POOP! D; I've been doing it for almost a year and I'm also trying to get a job at the place, but I always get too shy to ask. :C How did you start volunteering there? Were they looking for volunteers, or did you ask?

It can get really tiring after awhile though. >__< I've been thinking of quitting at one of the places I volunteer at because lately it's been really unorganized.

I volunteer at a shop that raises money for a local hospice, we're still in the building process right now but hopefully it should be up and running soon. I didn't realise that I've been working there over a year now...time flies.
Working with animals, especially cats or small furries, is something I'd like to do also whee

Were they looking for volunteers, or did you ask? Well during that time, they were still looking for volunteers due to the fact that the second floor had nothing but dollar books and it wasn't organized like the first floor but this summer they changed all that. They pushed books from the first room of the second floor back and they expanded Scifi, fantasy, Thiller and Mystery to the second floor in the first room. So right now we are still currently trying to sort out the second room. I have five dogs so for me, I am use to seeing so much poop. Haha.
