On the surface: Calm and reserved. Jonathan prefers to be very secretive but can be very prone to emotional comical, or angry outbursts depending on the situation. In battle, Jonathan does not hold back, believing in complete annihilation. However, he does underestimate certain opponents especially those he deems incompetent which causes his arrogance to be one of his major flaws in battle.
But deep down: Jonathan was an actor in Virbank City and starred in many horror movies that did not end up successfully. Falling into alcoholism at his supposed failure as an actor, Jonathan was ready to end his life and release his Pokemon. However, he was saved by Enel and shown his ideals. Aiding Enel in his adventures, Jonathan grew fond of battling and became powerful as a trainer. Jonathan serves as an elite agent for Team Solstice and carries out orders with no remorse.
