I'm sure we've all heard this song.
"I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In AWE of the one who gave it all"

So we stand in awe. Why do we say in awe? Why is it so awesome?
Now let me explain the word awesome before we continue. We often use the word awesome to describe things that aren't awesome at all. We say things like, "dude, that pizza was awesome," or "that was an awesome video game." Now yes, video games and pizza can be fairly neat, but they do not reach the level of awesome. Awesome is lightning in the midst of a volcanic eruption. The sun is awesome. Now, we get up and we look at it every day, but I want you to stop looking at it as a giant lightbulb and see it for what it really is. It's a gigantic ball of burning gasses that is so massive and dense that, at its core, atoms and molecules are pressed together with such force and heat that the two fuse together and release incredible amounts of energy in what is known as nuclear fusion. We have not been able to maintain nuclear fusion in any sort of efficient way, but the sun has been doing it for some insane amount of time that makes your life span look like a nanosecond. Next time you look at the sun, let your jaw drop.

But that's not why we stand in awe. We stand in awe for the simple reason that we are worth more than a cockroach. In any other theological system, you and a cockroach have the same worth. Your a bunch of molecules and cells put together. No difference. The awesome bit is that God made the universe and said that it was good and then we rolled around, messed it up broke it destroyed it (Yes, Christianity supports the fact that humans caused global warming.) but then he decided that he still loves us, DESPITE WHAT WE DID!!! DESPITE TAKING A FOSSIL FUEL AX TO THE UNIVERSE THAT HE CREATED SO CAREFULLY AND SO PERFECTLY MADE, HE STILL LOVES US!!! HE WENT AND DIED ON A CROSS FOR US!!!

The next time you take a look at the cross let your jaw drop. YOU ARE LOVED!!!
