Sh'en was doing a handstand. <25... 26... 27> counted Kalteth, trying to count, spot for her rider, and not bounce around in glee. She was managing... but only just barely. Sh'en had been bored, and when he was bored he made up games. This time, it was 'how long can I stand on my head for?' He had learned the trick long ago, and, as of today, his longest time was 30 seconds, not before he lost stamina, but before Kalteth got bored and distracted and caused him to lose his focus and fall. <27, 28, 29...> His head and arms were starting to hurt from the effort it took, and from previous handstands. At least he'd warmed up first! <30, 31, 32, 33... ooo, whats that?> Kalteth's attention was usurped by a small fluttery insect. "Kally!" He wobbled a bit, gritting his teeth as he managed to hold himself upright. she turned back to him, "34, 35..." His arm shook and began to bend, his muscles tiring. He grunted. Just a bit more... <39...> With a grunt, Sh'en's impressive handstand toppled and he landed on his back. <39!> Kalteth said triumphantly, nosing at him, "Well, its better than my previous time..."
"My arms are tired, Kally..." he said, rubbing at them. she said, wiggling slightly as she planted her forepaws firmly on the ground. Sh'en smiled at her antics. "... Kally, I don't think you can do a headstand..."

Kleos was distracted, par for the course these days. Too many things on her mind at once, too many things to deal with that she hardly knew how to begin to fix. A walk to clear her head had seemed like a good idea but thus far it hadn't worked....
Apparently however it was yielding a distraction. Kleos came to a halt as she saw the boy flop down onto his back beside his young dragon. He was speaking aloud to the green allowing her to catch half of the conversation, and what she heard made her eyebrows raise in alarm. "I would strongly advise against that!" she said, hastening forwards. "You could very easily damage you wings, young green." Dragons were not designed to balance like that, it would only end in disaster!

She had juuuust figured out how she would do it! She'd raise her tail a bit and if she moved her weight just right, maybe... Wait, what had that person just said?
Wait, she could hurt her wings? If she fell on them, sure. Sh'en hadn't thought of that. Actually, it was sounding like a worse and worse idea by the minute! "Kally, don't do it..."
she stretched a wing out and fluttered it for a moment, looking at it worriedly, Then she couldn't fly, and that would be distinctly un-fun!
"Then don't do a headstand?" said Sh'en, sitting up to get a better look at this person, trying to read their knots.
Said Kalteth, dissappointed. But she didnt want to hurt her wings! Her wings were special! Just thinking about not being able to fly made her unhappy, and Kalteth hated being unhappy!
Holy s**t, a wingleader was talking to him.

When it seemed that the green wasn't going to try it after all Kleos relaxed a little and smiled at the pair. "An adventurous spirit is commendable but you must take care of yourself too young green! What might your names be? I am Kleos - Dauntless' wingleader - and my dragon is crimson Moriath." Yes, get to know one of the newest weyrlings - it was a constructive activity and a distraction all in one.

"Sh'en, and this is Kalteth" said Sh'en, getting up to shake her hand, "A pleasure to meet you" he said politely, evaluating. What he found interesting was that her smile was... almost sad. Hmmm... said Kalteth, pressing next to him playfully. Kalteth pondered that a moment,
Kalteth was quiet for a moment,
Kalteth didn't like depressing things like that. "It's a nice day out, huh?" he said, smiling a bit more openly this time, trying to share a little bit of the smile with her. "Are you taking a walk? Or did you happen to save my dragon from hurting herself on your way someplace?" she muttered admonishingly, pouting.

It was a nice day she supposed, though Trine's hot sun was still a trial on her complexion. She was far more tan now than she had been at Malvren but even so she was given to burning if she lingered outside in the middle of the day. "You as well, Sh'en and Kalteth," Kleos replied with a shallow bow, a gesture of respect she afforded to anyone who treated her with politeness in turn.
"It is a pleasant day," she continued with a nod, "and... yes, I was just out for a walk." She hadn't had any destination in mind especially, though she had thought she might make her way to one of the lakes and perhaps take a swim.

"Oh." Well, out for a walk was what he had asked about, but destinations were interesting, and he hadn't gotten one. Maybe she just had no destination. Not having a destination could be interesting too, he supposed, though he hoped she eventually ended up somewhere nice. asked Kalteth, looking at him with surprise. Sh'en wasn't an awkward person. Her cheer and confidence was boueying, but he knew he had to be a little careful after all.
"Well, this is a good place to do it, you know?" he said, looking out at the scenery, "It's really nice here at dusk- theres a great view of the sunset..." Auuugh, why was he having so much trouble?!
Kalteth thought for a moment. said Kalteth cheerfully. It would be a little difficult, but she could do it. She concentrated a bit before chirping a towards Moriath. There! See?
Sh'en muttered to himself trying to not cover his face with his hands in embarrassment.

Kleos smiled slightly and inclined her head to the younger rider. "It is a wonderful place, very different to Malvren but no less wonderful for it." Trine truly was beautiful with its verdant plantlife and glimmering lakes. While she missed Malvren still the Weyr had not been a lifelong home for her as it had been for many so the pang was less severe and she was less given to finding fault with her new home. "Have you lived here long?" she continued with a tilt of her head, trying to deduce if she was speaking to a Weyrbrat or a holdborn youth as she had been.
Moriath, who had been gliding in lazy circles overhead, looked down as the younger dragon's voice entered her mind. she responded with a warmth that no male could ever draw from her. It would never have occurred to her to try to balance on he head.

"No, ma'am. Only been here as long as Kalteth." Sh'en answered, trying to relax a little. His sister would have told him to not slouch, keep his chin up, keep his back straight, and be polite. Well, he'd do the latter, but he knew he was slipping with the other ones without her there to kick his shins. Not that shed actually kick his shins. Didi was too dignified for that. "The caravan I was with went along the jungle here, but we used to be more North, I think. It's very different there."
chirped Kalteth to Moriath, before sending a little laughter at Sh'en. See? Moriath was nice! Nothing to be afraid of! Silly Sh'en! she asked, cheerfully, looking up with energetically swirling eyes.
Was she from Malvren? That wasn't something he heard much about. But if she was from there, but was here, that meant that she definitely couldn't go home. That... would be sad. This wingleader just had sadness over sadness.
That is, if she was from Malvren. She hadn't actually said so- he was assuming. Was that what that knot meant? So many knots to know...

Ah, traders? It had always seemed like a strange way of life to her but she had always been excited to see the colourful people come through her Hold with their exotic goods and tales of far away places. Even now, roaming distances in a moment that Traders couldn't imagine, she found it hard to imagine life on the road with not fixed home to return to.
"It is different," Kleos agreed with a small incline of her head, "though I can only speak for weather, not culture. I find Trine very much like Malvren in that regard, and both are very different to the Hold I grew up in." Her feet were beginning to feel restless, and with a sigh the wingleader smoothed a hand over her short fuzz of hair. "Will you walk with me?" she asked of the young rider. "I feel in need of movement." As though she could leave behind what had happened. K'ten.
Moriath lay down and lowered her head towards the smaller dragon, pondering the slightly unexpected question. she said after a few moments,

"Oh! Sure!" said Shenja. He didn't mind a walk, and he knew He knew he should take the oppurtunity to make himself look really good to a wingleader. He knew this in the same way he knew that she was sad, and in the same way he just listened to people around him. But he also knew he didn't have to make himself look good, and that in the end it was what he was inside that mattered in the end. Status came to those who had it in them, and he didn't mind. He had Kalteth, and that was all that he needed. "My sister and I were brought up in a hold, but I don't remember it well." he said conversationally, "I know we both liked the trader life far more, though." It was hard to imagine staying in one place anymore, but he supposed that he would be. Kalteth was surprised. She'd never thought of that as a thing that you could do. Or, at least, as a thing that you could have fun doing. Kalteth herself was not very organized. Her mind, unpredictable and mercurial as ever, drifted back to the other thing. she asked, curious.

Kleos nodded to the youth's words, hands folded behind her back as she walked on rather aimlessly. "I have seen a lot of the world since I Impressed," she said after a few moments. "Seen a lot... but not experienced I suppose. All the different Holds flash by beneath us or we stop for half a day, it's not the same as a Trader's rich experience I suppose."
said Moriath, perplexed. She highly doubted any would ever be what she was, especially the males, but she did enjoy working on the shortcomings of others so that they were less... short. she added,

"When you do stop, what brings you there?" asked Sh'en, skipping in his steps slightly to keep up with her - he hadn't reached his full height yet, and his legs were still shorter. One day, though, he'd have his growth spurt. she said, as Sh'en quickly corrected her. She laughed, she cocked her head up at the dragon. It was sort of fun keeping the crimson in view - she could turn her head all sorts of interesting ways. This distracted her while she processed what the crimson had said about this 'organization' thing. chirped Kalteth, Kalteth wished she knew everybody. It'd be so much fun to just be able to say hi to random people and know exactly what they wanted so she could have Shenny get it for them or, ooo, make it a prize in a race, or... anything. she said, her eyes narrowed and she thought for a moment, a new thought percolating up. she asked, tail whipping playfully.
