About Update Land
In the forum Update Land is where all characters can get their powers brought up to speed and eventually get promoted to the next level. No, your character does not have to literally enter Update Land, it is an OOC (Out of Character) area. But you must make a record through the format placed within Update Land. You must post your own updating forum/profile

This is the largest reason why the profiles of all the mages are locked. This is to ensure that none of the guild members will be tempted to sneak into their profile and forcibly change all of their stats. With the update format, you are capable of making a record of how much of each kind of point or currency you've gained in your recent adventures. Also, items and spells that you have currently bought go into this format, as well to ensure which items you have gained and which items you have used. This is the guild members only method of influencing their profile to avoid cheating. Profiles will not be unlocked so that the owner of profile may
"update themselves."

Though many of the guild members are deemed trustworthy, it is merely a safety precaution to ensure that such trust isn't abused.
