Graceangel

Prompt
As a priest you're mainly a passive player in the world of Lior. However, they do have some battle skills. Your quest to become a full fledged priest or priestess involves a little of your healing/holy power and the fighting power you train to hone every day. Sophia has given you the task of traveling to the outskirts of her beloved city and visiting an old burial ground. Strange things have been reported to be happening here; the dead have, supposedly, been reported to be seen rising from the ground. You must go and investigate these claims and bless the graveyard. And fight off any undead you may or may not come upon.

Obstacle you must overcome
It seems that someone has come to visit the graveyard. Whether they're here out of curiosity about the rumors or visiting a loved one it doesn't matter. What does matter is that the rumors are true and the undead is now pursuing said person. You must now rescue someone as well as fight off the undead and then putting them to rest.

Flamio walked softly into the graveyard. He had been contemplating on his journey there about his quest given to him by Sophia. He hadn't been around long enough to see enough of the world or understand everything about humans. However, he was keen enough to discern what was right in front of him. Something about this assignment felt a little ominous. He wondered if he were ready for this job. This assignment. He clutched his right hand in a fist nearly shaking it against his chest. He wouldn't fail. NO way! He'd do this for sure.

As he stood for a moment to focus his thoughts to investigate the graveyard, something caught out of hte corner of his eye. A young human was there standing over a grave with something in her hand. She wore a red coat with the hood over her head. Because of this, he had trouble seeing her face. She didn't seem to be moving much, but every now and then, he saw what looked like some object dangling out and in front of her but over the grave. He wondered why that was. Didn't most humans who came here to remember their loved ones; they usually just brought flowers and sat to talk.

As he approached the grave to investigate some more, it began before could actually reach her. Whatever it was that she had been dangling began to glow. It's red glow then began to seep some kind of icky shadow that curled around the ground like tentacles. His eyes widened. He then ran up to kick it out of her hands and destroy it. Unfortunately, he was a little late for that. The tendrils already had worked their way into the ground calling out for bones of dead men to rise up.

He then spun around to stare at this girl with wild eyes. "Do you even know what you have done??? Are you some minion of Ferren?" He wondered if it were wise to ask her that. Would someone who was admit it openly? Maybe outright? But, possibly some might attempt to deceive at first to some mysterious end result. He was trying to pry further, but then he felt the tickling creep up his spine. Before he turned his head to see, he felt some of what approached. Without looking at the girl or waiting for a reply, he yelled with great urgence. "HURRY, RUN!"

The girl had done her research and now she stood over the grave of her lost love, tears streaming down her face. The hood of her cloak covered her features as she held out the cross over the grave. Chanting a few words she squeezed her eyes shut, hoping beyond all hope that she would be able to bring her lover back to life. He had been taken from her too soon. Way too soon.

She muttered the spell that had been given to her. With each word the cross she dangled over the grave began to glow brighter and brighter. Her eyes widened and she gasped, almost dropping the cross, when the shadows began to seep out of it and to the ground. What was going on? Was this suppose to happen. The ground rumbled and the woman looked down. The sounds of the other being that had been approaching were drowned out by the scream that was tore from her throat as a boney, decaying hand broke free of the ground and grasped for the woman's ankle. All around them, the graves began to break open, the ground splitting and cracking as more and more bodies began to dig themselves out of their earthly graves.

Flamio felt a little confused after having seen that her item had been a cross. Weren't those symbols of light, holy, and life? How did such a relic come to cause shadows? Was this some kind of trick? maybe someone had cast an illusion spell on the item? Perhaps it wasn't really a cross at all. He would have tried to figure it out faster, but her scream made him need to act quickly. He pulled his staff up and struck the ground. His hands clasped over the front of his preist staff, and his hands folded as praying. He closed his eyes and prayed a spell to give them a temporary screen to help them escape. It was the first time he had tried to use this new spell, and it showed. There were some bright lights that started to shine and come out of the small crystal at the top of the staff, but it barely did any damage to the hand reaching for the woman's ankle. His prayer to create a form of defense for them in the form of a smokescreen failed. It burst into the air into a million tiny particles of shining dust. He was scrambling. He knew he needed to slow down and focus. Remember what he had been taught.

The woman's eyes widened at the smoke screen appeared between her and the hand reaching for her ankle. Her head swiveled back to take in the Kyresue that was standing behind her. In her haste to find who had come into the graveyard she lost her balance and stepped back, stumbling to the ground. She hit with a omph that knocked the breath out of her chest. She groaned as the screen disappeared and revealed that even more of the body had made its way out of the ground.

Her voice caught in her throat. She had not meant for this to happen. Nothing like this. She pulled herself quickly away from the grave only to fell a hand creeping up her back as she came to rest on top of another grave. Another scream was ripped from her throat as she scrambled to her feet and ran towards the Kyresue that so obviously had some kind of magical powers. "H-help me." She pleaded desperately. "I...I didn't mean for this to happen. Nooo..." She groaned as her gaze wandered over the rest of the cemetery.

He rallied his feelings and focused even more. His adrenaline was starting to build up, and he drew reassurance from just the light that had come out of his failed spell. He knew he needed to do something to purchase them a few moments, so he could pull off a bigger holy offensive. What they really needed was some kind of shield between them and the increasing undead who were all waking up from their sleep. His eyes narrowed at the devilry that was creeping every closer with every breath they wasted staying in this one spot.

He then shouted to their goddess a plea for her assistance. He then whispered the words of the spell for burning hail. He was at the least somewhat pleased he remembered the spell correctly. He wondered if he remembered to bring any tonics that would bolster his magic ability. Then lights piercingly bright opened in the clouds. Huge balls of fiery hail pelted the undead. Some bodies exploded from the heat and burning chunks. It didn't come down as heavy or widespread as he had hoped, but it was enough as he grabbed the wrist of the lady nearby. "Follow me. We need to get behind something."

He then started running and searching for a large rock slab. He then saw a big statue monument towards a pool. He ran for that. That'd be where he dug in to fight them off.

The woman was so scared that she at first didn't hear the male Kyresue talk. Her eyes blinked as he grabbed her wrist and she stumbled to keep up with him. "I-I'm sorry." She stuttered as she struggled to keep up with him. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I just wanted him back. I miss him. So much." Her words were spoken quickly, blurring together as tears started to run down her face. "No, no, no, no, noooo." She moaned as more and more bodies seemed to be erupting from the ground.

She stumbled to a halt as they came near a monument. She hid behind it, clinging to the cold marbled facing like a scared little child. "Pleasssseee...." She moaned and pleaded as she squeezed her eyes tightly shut.

Having gained at least some screen between them and the en masse of monsters that were ahead as they took shelter behind the monument. Flamio peeked back out at them. He then recalled the holy arrow move. He wondered if it were possible to pull it off in a way that caused multiple arrows to shoot at once. Pull off an attack that would hit multiple enemies. He then made the motion as if pulling up a bow. He recited a quick prayer as he strung the bowstring made of holy light. As he pulled it back, a piercing light built up under his fingers as the arrow grew.

Finally, when he thought it was as powered as he could manage, he let it go. The big bolt of holy hit a few that were all crowded together. It was a pretty decent hit, but his abilities were still too new and not trained enough to upgrade that move to be able to shoot multiple arrows at once and hit multiple foes. He then continued to shoot arrow after arrow trying to hit them. While he was succeeding in killing some, some were tougher. He wondered that some weren't merely skeletons. The way some of them moved.No.. some of these were wights. He hoped there weren't wraiths at the end of this. While he would fight them no matter what, he didn't like the idea of them. The visage of what they were frightened him immensely.

Flamio peeked down at the woman with him in between arrow releases. "Tell me now.. Are you some agent of Ferren? Has he seduced you with lies or his darkness?" Waiting for an answer, he shot another arrow while wondering if he had a flask in his bag to refresh his mp a little bit. There was the tickling of another idea in his mind.
