Oga's mother died from illness when he was very young, and he has almost no memory of her. Oga spent most of his childhood with his father on a fishing boat, once a month or so, they would travel to the village to sell fish. There were times when Oga would see ninja, and he wanted to be like them, but his father wouldn't allow it. He would say that Oga was needed on the boat, to keep business going. And so Oga stayed with his father, fishing his whole life, and he learned many things. Such things as how to use a spear, to cast a net, how to cook, and how to weather a storm. Oga's father was killed during a storm and it was during that time that he found out about The Root. At the age of ten Oga joined The Root and served as a member carrying out many missions during his tenure. Oga left The Root at the age of twenty to pursue his own goals of becoming the worlds greatest Shinobi using his new knowledge.
