The sun was setting on yet another day, and the crimson mare's pelt blended with the fiery sky as she stood upon the hill observing the Hourglass Summit herd's last bits of activity. She smiled at the chatting, the usual whinnying and calls of 'goodnight!' or 'see you later!' warmed her heart. She had promised herself a while ago that she would never leave it, nothing would ever inspire so much love in her heart.
Sanuye was an odd mare. Her mane covered her face and she often struggled to blow it away, she envied her sisters because they had wings, and she was often afraid to leave home. Many of her siblings before her had wandered the world. Some had returned to the herd, others had stayed in new places. She had, of course, explored before, but she knew her heart would always be here with her family. The workings of the herd and the way it functioned were sometimes all she cared about. But on nights like these when she was exceptionally happy, she often found herself daring herself to explore and to see the world.
Her amber eyes traced the glowing decent of the sun upon the horizon, and with the slight breeze felt that sudden inspiration to take a quick stroll to the rocks in the distance before nightfall. She had been there with her older sister once before, Eli had laughed at Sanuye's hesitance to stray from home then. She was even slightly surprised by her own bravery at this moment herself. But now she was not so afraid, now she was more comfortable with the area outside of her herd's territories. She slipped away, down the hill and across the meadow, heading for the rocks in the distance. She did not fear for predators, she was sure she would blend in with her surroundings, which were a blazing red and orange due to the sunset.

He wondered, as he kept the same deliberate pace if the land that he was walking in belonged to someone else or if it was merely land for those to enjoy. He had as a foal ran across land that belonged to herds. Sometimes the others didn’t mind while some got rather annoyed with anyone in their territory. There had been one incident where he had met a young filly who was determined to spear him with her horn to keep him from her land. For Seto he wondered if he would actually meet the young filly again but he had his doubts, there was also a good chance that she would be likely to stab his heart out with her horn.
Either way that hadn’t stopped his adventures and his travels being older had its advantages. Plus the flame that danced along his tail was rather a big bonus for him in deterring away those who didn’t know him from wanting to pick a fight. Downside was there was always an issue of accidentally setting grass on fire if he wasn’t paying attention where it rested. Seto disliked the idea of starting a forest fire and burning down the homes of everyone that lived there. What a horrible thing to be responsible of.
Thought at the moment the entire meadow looked as if it was on fire as the sun started to sink beyond the horizon. It was one of his favorite times of the day as his coat started to blend into the land. It always reminded him of his father and his own red like coat and his fiery tail. There would be a day when he would go home but his travels wasn’t over yet not with the mountains looming in the distances. He would go there soon however a scent drifted near him, someone unfamiliar however he was curious to meet as he started to look for them.

She had picked out movement among the orange tinted evening and had thought it was one of the herd members straggling behind as she had done. But as she peeked out from under her bangs she could see that the shape of this stallion was foreign. She retreated slightly into herself, hiding behind her bangs as much as possible. He was handsome, and his mane made him look daring and tough and bad all at the same time. She didn't want him to see her. Not for the first time in her life, she found herself struggling to make her mane lie flat on the top.
But he was nearing the herd's territories all too soon, and she didn't really want him to go much further. Her family would most likely welcome a newcomer, but what if he was dangerous? Sanuye moved to intercept him, clearing her throat slightly as she did so. "Um, hello..." she said hesitantly, blushing an even fiercer shade of maroon. Her eyes traced the markings on his pelt, and she smiled politely, hoping he wouldn't attack...or run away.
