Chilly sort of snuggled under her mother's wide body, little nose tickling at the are. "Salt!" She shouted for her twin sister, tickling her mother's belly as she scrambled to the other side, peeking out. Bayleaf gave a warm smile and lifted up. "Salt, my darling, please come out. You're causing your sister to worry and shout. Besides, it is time for our guests to arrive. Your company we must not deprive." Almost on cue, Dogsbane hopped to the warren. Things were so busy lately. The other babies were with their mother but two had refused sleep and Dogs had no time to watch them. "Thanks for taking them, Bayleaf." He said with relief, turning to his sons. "Now I want you young bucks to be on your best behaviour for Bayleaf. She's going to have some fun with you. Understand?" Out of breath from trying to keep up with his dad, Speedwell panted and gave a few chubby cheeked nods.

"M'comin, m'comin!" Salt had been straying, which wasn't unusual. The little doe was an extremely curious thing and she'd been rooting about the tunnels that joined with her mother's burrow, thinking they hadn't noticed that she'd been sneaking off. There were plenty of them, after all, and one kitten could easily go amiss in the hubbub, right? Apparently that wasn't the case, yeah? Her sister was calling her name and her mother was calling her back in her usual singsong patter. She muttered something softly under her breath before dragging her paws as she slipped back into their main burrow. "I wuttn't far, sear it." She nestled against her mother and her sister as their guests arrived. "Da, we'll be good, promise!" Wallflower piped up as he followed at Dogsbane's heel's. He couldn't sleep and was far too fidgety. Dogsbane and Ginkgo were far too busy to sit him while their mother took care of the other kittens, so here he was, tagging along. He bumped into Speedwell playfully and grinned broadly.

Bayleaf gave a gentle wave of her paw. "Not a problem, I won't quell, looking after little wallflower and speedwell. Come in, kittens! We'll have fun, and an enjoyable story before we're done." She lead them inside as Dogsbane nodded to his kittens and gave them a gentle lick each on the head. "Daddy will be back for you before the sun goes down. " And then he was gone, leaping over his kittens and taking off through the bushes.
Chilly scuttled through the grass and sniffed at Wallflower. "You have two dads! I've never seen that before."
Bayleaf smiled softly and laid down. "What shall we do first, you kittens four? Shall we hear a story or flay by the shore? Do you want to play outside or I'll cover my eyes and you all hide."

"Oh! Oh! Hide and seek, please ma? I wanna play hide and seek!" The pale furred kitten jumped to her paws, droopy ear flopping as she did. She skittered towards the two strange kittens, sniffing each in turn with her dark, little nose. She hoped they agreed with her. She preferred to be active. She loved running and chasing games!
"Two dads and a mum, the more the merrier." Wallflower beamed. He made a face as Salt sniffed him and turned his attention from her, her sister, and his brother, to glance towards Bayleaf. She talked strangely, but he did his best to mind his manners and inched nearer towards her.
"I'd like t'hear a proper story from a proper storyteller." He glanced up at her with big, wide, golden eyes and smiled.

Chilly laid down and nodded her head. "story! story, mama!"
Bayleaf looked to speedwell to see what he wanted to do. He sort of hid behind his brother, itching at his ear. "Um...story." Bayleaf smiled and gave another nod. "Alright, than we'll have a tale. And after that we'll play a spell." She put her paw to her maw and nodded.
"Have any of you heard of the waiting rabbit?" Chilly shook her head, settling down beside Speedwell. Speedwell snuggled to his brother and looked up with his wide purple eyes.

Salt sighed heavily and rolled her eyes as exadurated as physically possible as she settled in next to her sister and the two unfamiliar young bucks that were staying a spell with them.
"Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay."
"I han't heard that'n before."
Wallflower rested his head on his brother's back and blinked, wide eyed, at Bayleaf, still smiling. He was actually feeling a bit sluggish, uninterested in playing and roughhousing. But he was not - not ready to go to sleep. Maybe after a nice, entertaining story, but not right now. He was as stubborn as a kitten could be and to go to sleep too soon would almost be like giving in or giving up.

Bayleaf smiled at Salt and licked the tuft of fur on her head before sitting down in the middle of them.
"There once was a rabbit with siblings three who were about to leave their loving marli. But these rabbits were not ordinary, but rather extraordinary." She made sure to look at them one by one, glad there were four of them.
"You see these rabbits were like the farmers below. They could will it and make their own flay-rah grow. They came upon a land which they split to grow whatever they wanted with it." She drew in the dirt, making a small patch for each kitten.
"What should the rabbits grow in their fields? What do you think each one should yield?"
Chilly piped up first. "CABBAGES!" Her mother gave her a gentle, sidelong look.
"Our guests should be the first to pick. No need to rush, no need to be quick."
She looked to her guests instead.
"Um..." Speedwell sort of stepped into his brother and whispered in his ear, a little shy around those who weren't his family. "what are...um...those yummy red things Parli Dogsbane gives us?" He was talking about Cockscomb.
