So, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm headed to St. Petersburg tomorrow and I have absolutely no idea what my internet access will be like there. I don't read Russian, and I only speak enough of it to make a hotel reservation, but not enough to find out about their internet situation, so I may be gone for a while. Or I may find myself with a bunch of free time and free internet and you'd all just wish that I was gone for a while. In any case, I'll be there for two weeks. I might end up coming home early, but as plans stand now, I'll be there for 14 days.

I'll be travelling alone, which I haven't done in a while. I know a lot of people find travelling alone scary or lonely, but I honestly love it. I love meeting new people, and as I mentioned in another thread, people seem to want to meet me for some reason. Last time I travelled alone, I met the former CEO of Euro-Disney in Berkeley, California and ended up spending almost a week in his crazy mansion in this rich people town a couple hours north of Los Angeles. We drove there in his Ferrari, no joke. I know that sounds like a textbook "yer gonna get raped" situation, but it wasn't like that at all. It was just unbelievably awesome, and he was really a genuinely kind, generous person. We still keep in touch. And as soon as California figures out how it really feels about same-sex marriage, I'm leaving Henry and going to California to be a trophy f**.

I am going to be meeting up with some friends in St. Petersburg, so I won't really be alone once I get there, but I'm looking forward to getting there, and hopefully I'll meet some cool people.




Anyway, just so this thread isn't all about me, how do you folks feel about travelling? Are you one of those "it's not the destination, it's the journey" kind of people, or will your prayers be answered when teleport machines hit the consumer market? Do you enjoy seeing new places and meeting new people, or do you prefer to stay closer to home? What's been your favourite travelling experience, and what made it so awesome? What's been your worst travelling experience, and what made it so terrible? Are there any places you'd love to visit that you haven't gotten around to seeing yet? If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? (Besides where you live now, even if you love where you live.)
