The Frank Slide occurred in 1903 in the village of Frank, Alberta. Frank, Alberta is situated in the Rocky Mountain Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. Frank became a town in 1901. There was a coal mine at Frank in the mountain called Turtle Mountain.
In the spring of 1903 the face of Turtle Mountain came loose, causing a massive landslide and covering the town of Frank below with huge boulders and rock debis. Seventy-six people were reported dead, some bodies never recovered from the rubble. People often report seeing mist and eerie apparitions when looking at the wreckage from the slide. Many think ghosts frequent the area because not all of the bodies were recovered and they are still looking for their loved ones
