Welcome! So, I couldn't think of a super nice name. But this will work. We (Bree and I) are going to get this guild back up and running! So, here is a quick intro to the story!

In a world not so different from our own, two factions clashing in civil war over the reins of power may finally have found a method to end the madness. Beginning in the cities and quickly spreading to every corner of the land are rumors of a prophesy and a mythical artifact which will determine the next leader to bring the war-torn country into an age of peace and prosperity. Tired of the constant killing, the people rejoice at the idea of such a simple ending to a long and arduous war, but not everyone is happy. Hearing rumors that the opposing leader will, or at least should be chosen, one leader sends their greatest assassin to remove the obstacle on their path to power, but things never quite go that simply…

History

The country of Faris has always been ruled by royalty (it passes through the eldest, regardless of gender). With a fertile royal line and few successful coup d’états, there was little reason to worry or imagine that there would ever be war, but change and conflict are inevitable. In the last few generations, the royal line has lost much of its fertility, barely managing an heir much less the spare required to keep the line of succession clear. Having left no children behind, the previous monarch died without an heir leaving distant cousins the nearest heirs to the throne. And so the civil war began.

Two factions, one led by a general in the army and the other led by the head court mage, both distant cousins of the king, quickly made their bids for the throne, inciting civil war as the people sided with one or the other. Now the war has entered its fifth year, and the people long for the times of peace and prosperity they once enjoyed. A rumor has spread; a prophecy is whispered in dark corners that an ancient relic has the ability to choose the next monarch to lead the people to a golden age of peace and prosperity unrivaled by the ages past. Furthermore, many believe that it is actually the mage who will be chosen to lead the Farisians to this destiny.

Hearing these rumors and fearing the relic will be found and choose the enemy, the general has decided to take things into his/her own hands. S/He has sent the faction’s most talented assassin to kill the head of their opposing faction and remove the obstacles standing in the way of ruling the country. But things didn’t quite go as planned. For some reason (the reason will be left up to the two players who become the assassin and the mage) the assassination attempt has failed, and now the assassin and mage travel together on a quest to find the relic and end the war once and for all.

But not everyone is happy with this arrangement. The general’s faction gnashes their teeth, sending more assassins and soldiers to prevent their movements, and even the mage’s faction has sent out searchers to find their errant leader. Who will you become?
