The Contest

Whiterun, the home of this little family, is a cultured pack with many traditions. Like it's namesake in the game Skyrim, Whiterun is proud, hardy, and versatile. One Nord -the residents of Skyrim- tradition is that of Bards, the oral custom of passing along stories, either as a record for history, a political statement, or just a bit of fun in the local Mead Hall. So, what will I be having you do? Write a ballad! This song can be essentially of any subject so long as it relates to Kells; does it relate to the family, the pack, Kells lore? The contest will be judged on the creativity of the song itself, as well as the name of the pup which I would like to relate to Skyrim in some way and still hold to Kells naming rules.

.....................Ballad: -Your ballad! Does it revolve around the Whiterun pack? Or these little Khajiit marked pups? It's up to you so long as it relates to Kells in some way. It can be in any form of poem-

Family

Stoat: Her parents Elk and March Hare were right on the mark in terms of naming. Stoat is a jumpy, high energy wolf who seems curious of just about everything. Her Sight ability hasn't mellowed her personality any despite the gravity of the content of her visions.
Shout: The oldest sister, but contrary to her name, she's quite afraid of her own voice, in a literal and figurative sense. She's the introvert to her mother's extrovert.
Rogue Father: ??? How scandalous!

Name: Bonemold (After Bonemold armor)
Personality: Not as strong as her name might imply. (Meek)
Ballad: (I know it’s not Skyrim, but I’m thinking of the tune Brat’ja from FMA.)

Sisters I have a tale for you
One where legend does come true
We are the new blood for this world
Our journey is soon to unfurl

Beautiful mother,
Where is our father?

My sisters, were we meant to live?
And how do we forget and forgive?

Now, our journey may be long
but with time we are sure to belong
to a tale that is all our own
the siblings who weren't forknown...

Personality: elegant, poised, powerful
Ballad:

from mountain to mountain
through the vast open canopy
a tale does tell of a legend that roams
steadfast paws that never seem to stop
a coat the shines and glistens, and dark as darkest night
fangs unsheathed, a bone shaking howl that echoes with no restraint
his voice how it grips the soul, how it makes it fur rise
those devilish eyes, with only blood in sight
there's always that hope that light will find him
but till then young pup please beware of the heartless dark knight

Which Pup: First. <3
Name: Evergrim (nickname Ever, though I could see wolves that disliked her calling her Grim instead as a play on her personality; she’s based on Grimsever and its wielder, Mjoll the Lioness)
Personality: Righteous, frosty. Cherishes her pack and her family, but little else.
Ballad:

In the folds of Redwood
A mother does lie
With a curve to her belly
And a deep, deep sigh

There are none by her side
When the pups are born
Her mate has long left
But her heart still warms

The chill is unwelcome
In the midst of her young
Yet the cold takes hold
On the smallest of one

Evergrim they call her
With frost in her soul
Her eyes are like gems
Her pelt, like bone

She lies atop her mountain
To see the heavens above
She forgets the ones beneath
Who are just as worthy of love

What would happen
If she were to fall
Was no longer an angel
And lost to all?

Would her wounded heart
Grow darker still
And her paths converge
To lead only downhill?

Or would she see the earth
With a softer eye
And treasure all lives
Though she could not fly?

Could a heart so barren
Learn to grow true
And lose those judgments
When it was all she once knew?

All questions, no answers
Only the future will show
Whether she rises
Or whether she stays low

Thanks for the participation, folks! I wish we could have had a few more entries, but I realize that I made this contest a little difficult with the very nature of it being ballad based and didn't want to drag it on by extending the date further.

Oh wow, thank you so so much! ;w; I'm super pleased to have her! (I'LL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO RP WITH YOU GUYS. /INTENSE STARING Even if it's quick in-thread or anything. 8D)

As for the contest itself, I thought it fun. x3 Poems are hard for me to do (I love reading rhymes in particular, but when it comes to writing them... /stares off into the distance as a single tear rolls down my cheek) but I thought it was a unique game and will likely throw some poetry-related contests myself in the future. I'd love it if could become a more frequent occurrence -- the B/C is already such a swell springboard to start up writing and it would be great, too, if other forms of it became more common.
