- ⋆ The Celestial Yggdrasil
- Since the beginning of time, humans have been curious beings by nature. Many of them looked to God, or their Gods, for the answers. In turn,scientists turned towards astrology, the stars, and the Zodiac, for their answers. Once used as an ancient calender and a timekeeping system, it turned into a universal fortune telling system made up of twelve different animals. And thus, the Chinese Zodiac were born. Using the Zodiac, psychics began looking towards the cosmos and constellations to predict the future. While not all of them were true, there was one recurring prophecy that spoke of things to come.
However, unbeknownst to the humans, they had been tampering with things in the spiritual realm. In one of the greatest events in human history, astrologers and psychics unwittingly caused one of the greatest worldwide meteor showers that has ever been seen by mankind. On a seemingly normal Thursday, lights began streaking across the sky from all corners of the world, staining the twilight sunkissed sky. The event was named the "Celestial Yggdrasil", more commonly known as "Celestial Thursday", and was a huge value in scientific study. despite their achievements, their research did have negative effects. With humans transcending the boundaries of their studies, the Shinigami found that the human world was experiencing a significant drop in the amount of Pluses, disturbing the balance of the human world. The factor itself was cause by the twelve Katena, spiritual beings that each represent an animal of the zodiac. Even before the Shinigami existed, the Katena were there, and they were the first soul balancers in the world. Corrupted by evil while slumbering in their catatonic exile in the stars, they were reborn during the "Celestial Yggdrasil", and now strive to take their home back from the usurpers that have stolen their glory.
- ⋆ The Twelve Katena
- Brought by the Celestial Yggdrasil, each Katena represents an animal of the Chinese Zodiac. While they have all Shinigami powers and a Shinigami Reiryoku signature, they also have access to their animal form, called the Kōchaku. Able to be accessed at any time, the Katena can turn into their animal form, and get access to special abilities. In turn, they cannot use their Zanpakutō or Kidō while in this state, and their Reiryoku signature turns into that of a Katena. During this form, the Katena speak through telepathy. In addition, all Katena gain access to "Enjitsuten", a celestial portal that allows them to traverse dimensions, similar to a Garganta. It takes the form of a space vortex, and can be used in rapid succession in a move similar to Shunpo. Currently, they reside in Yggdrasil, only accessible via Enjitsuten or a Garganta.
