Hey guys, it's been awhile since I posted anything DQ related. I've been away from it all for a pretty long while.. So yeah, I kinda got into the spirit again and felt like playing some DQIII, and hence I decided to make a thread here and whatnot. I'm actually really starting to enjoy this game very much. I'll definitely make another thread about how I felt about the whole trilogy later down the road. I'm slowly trying to get through some of the other DQ games like DQVI and DQVIII and stuff. So I could probably talk about those ones too. But I'll try and figure something out when the times finally comes for that~
But anyways, if anyone here has played DQIII, I actually got to the point where I found the Mirror of Ra in that cave southwest of samasosa castle.(Kinda cool to see this come back again from DQII. =D) And well... Afterwards something odd sorta happened, one of my members which is a fighter transformed into a cat! emotion_jawdrop It literally just happened outta nowhere or I wasn't really paying much attention until I got the mirror of ra. I dunno when it happened and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be part of the story or something.. But I guess her title shall be fighter kitty from here on out. lol
So I was wondering if this has happened to anyone before?

Did you equip anything new? Like a plush suit? Your character is wearing a catsuit!
I remember when I was playing the game for the first time, those many years ago, I was puzzled by it too. But then when the character in question stopped looking like a cat, I found out why.

Oh yeah! Now that you mention it.. I did find a plush suit in one of those chests in that cave and I thought I'd equip it to my fighter! (At least the ones that weren't mimic enemies. *shudders*) That definitely explains it. XD Heh, that's a neat item.

Although I am more familiar with the NES Dragon Warrior III, I have played through the SNES one on various occasions, and adore all the added small details such as costumes. Unfortunately, the NES version does not have any of that, heck, female Roto is the same sprite as male Roto. Anyway, back on topic, be sure to get a bikini sometime in your travels, and make a female equip it, it makes the adventure more amusing.
Which version are you playing? I'm not sure about the SNES version, but I know in the GBC version, you get a small added line, and a sword if you solo the journey up until fighting Baramos.

Ahh, for me, that is easily one of more emotional pieces in the series, which is further amplified when put into symphonic form. It's also marks the beginning of Dragon Quest's unorthodox flying transportation methods, in which it just gets weirder/awesomer by each game, finally going into full climax by the time VI shows up.
I was also screwing around with the game data awhile ago, and discovered that Dragon Quest III's ROM is 96Mbits, which basically means that it has as much data crammed in it than Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia, two of the largest games on the SNES. Subsequently, this means that this game cannot be played on a flashcard, as it is too big to render properly without its own cartridge. Just goes to show that SFC DQIII has a lot more in it than it appears.

I always got a little joy out of seeing DQ 1 and 2 lumped together, while 3 is released on its own (though I recently learned that the GBC versions of those game are actually lower quality ports of the SFC versions). There are a lot of little things in DQIII along with the big obvious ones. I could believe the SFC remake was a big game for the time, with its add-ons to a game that was already a pretty big step up from its predecessors.
You should already know that I adore Heavenly Flight too. While I especially love its usage in DQVIII, the original version is no slouch. I like that DQVIII's version has some slight differences from previous orchestrations of the piece, too.
