Criofan had never been exactly the best at feelings himself. The way he approached Ei-Kal was totally detached and unconventional, to say the least. And Erylia herself? When she dared to say she loved him, he, well...

Ran away.

It had been years, though, and with years came maturity. He had a better handle on his emotions now, or at the very least, could recognize them for what they were and project them when he wanted to. Was Erylia the same? Maybe seasons of living in a cave had brought her to her senses, because he had never once known Erylia as a type of person to apologize for their behavior. Criofan was uncaring, Erylia was without regret.

It seemed she was now, though.

The golden faerie shuffled his feet, debating on how to reply. He had already forgiven her a long time ago, in a way. Put her out of his mind and moved on with his life. It was strange to be confronted by it directly, though, and he found himself wondering if he had ever truly dealt with the disappearance of his best friend, or if he let it just fall to the wayside because her attraction to him was inconvenient and a distraction to say the least.

"Ah, yeah, you're back now, right? That's what matters." That sounded like some kind of hokey crap but at least it was something. "No more hiding in caves, alright? Those things are dank anyway."

Now what was said wasn't so expected. Her eyebrows gave small twitch as he actually accepted her apology. It seemed like time had helped him out too. If only they both were as mature then, maybe the events would have played out different.

But that was useless to think. 'What if' thoughts were wasteful of time and counterproductive. Interestingly that was a philosophy that remained constant with her.

She flashed a smile, quickly pushing away the mood and gloom at his suggestion. "I think my quota for 'time in caves' is officially full forever. Being outside is a lot more fun anyway." It was strange to think that the fae actually had cared about her. All through her life she felt as though on a fence between acquaintance and friend to him. It was stranger still that she considered him her best friend. "Since I'm back though, we could meet up again sometime. You can bring me up to speed on everything I missed out on." Erylia's cryptic way of saying 'I missed my friend.'

Ah, good, she smiled. His, uh, hokey attempt at being nice and encouraging actually managed to encourage her. And she actually managed a joke! That was more like the Erylia he knew, always joking around...

"I agree. There's more to find outside than there is inside a cave." Criofan offered a wry smile. "I don't necessarily mind spending some time at home, though. That's probably because I don't live in a cave."

Honestly, Criofan didn't understand how anyone in the Isle actually lived in a cave. It would drive him crazy to be in a place so dark day in and day out, and especially in a place that was so dank. He didn't like being in environments where he was certain mushrooms and mold were the only things that grew. Criofan was not particularly fond of mold.

He was going off somewhere else again. She was talking about meeting up again? It was strange to think that Erylia was around and he could meet up with her again. Frankly, the faerie had thought she was gone for sure when she had disappeared. Swept away in the storm, perhaps. She had left, and he had moved on, but she was back. She was back and she wanted to continue to talk to him. That was ... good.

"Yeah. I'd like that."

That might allow them another opportunity to talk about the giant in the room, too.

There were so many questions, so much still left unsaid, untold, but too much could unravel everything before either were ready to hear it. As it was, simply seeing each other made the air tense and awkward. She gave a small laugh, letting a hand fall on her hip. "I don't blame you. Not really either of our style...I'm thinking maybe living the City. That's where are the shops and pae are."

He wanted to meet up again. He really didn't hate her after all. It felt like the biggest weight on the island had lifted off her shoulders, showing as suddenly her eyes lit up. The kind of light that would've materialized right before she jumped on a table top or stole someone's dance partner mid-dance. "Great! I look forward to it! But for now, I need to see a certain smarty-pants demonic." She started to turn but suddenly froze mid-step.

Don't do it. You said to yourself keep the first meeting short and sweet. You can hold out in asking. Let it end on a good note. Slowly she lowered her foot again. "It'll only take me a day or so to find out what I need to know. Are you free in two days?" Patience was something she had finally learned, not jumping on every impulse that came her way. She could wait a little longer.

The City? He supposed it made sense. It was where the marketplaces were, and the majority of Light Pae. A lot of the demons and angels had moved there as it had opened.

Criofan sometimes went up there to go to market and trade, but he also occasionally noticed the strange looks a few of the locals gave him. He wouldn't live there. His house near the lake worked just fine for him. "The City is nice. There definitely are a lot of different things to do and see there." The golden faerie shrugged. "There seem to be some interesting fairy technologies up there, too. Some things they have up there we can only get down here with generators."

She seemed to have the same thought he did. If they could meet another time, they could not complicate this any further. Criofan could think a little more on how he was supposed to break the news to Erylia that not only did he have a daughter, he had a step-son, and a mate...

That was going to be a hard one, if she still bared any feelings.

"Yeah, sure. I live on the beach now. You can come there, if you want."

Well, he'd have to be sure to intercept before she ran into anyone else, but that would be a convenient location at least.

A place filled with light and pae, hustle and bustle was something she had sorely missed. "Then I'm sure I'll find something to fill my time with there. I always do." She smiled at his mention of a beach. It should've been obvious that he would live there as forests could be so dirty and the sand gleamed like jewels. "It's a date. See you Cri." With that she started back towards the forest, her hair swishing like liquid gold in the high sun. "Oh, and this time you really will see me. Promise!" The female called over her shoulder with a wave. Finally that lump in her stomach had disappeared. But now she faced a different problem.

Where could Tartara be?
