I've been thinking of reading some HP fanfiction lately, but I have no idea where to start. Do you guys have some tips on what I could read? I've hardly ever read any fanfiction, but I think I'd like it to be true to the Harry Potter story (so no Hermonie-Draco lovestories or anything like that). Maybe some good stories about the Marauders' time at Hogwarts or something about Voldemort. Also just Harry's time at school and/or after school would be something I think I'd like, as well as his kids time at school.
Hit me with your favorites! biggrin

Maybe. I liked reading fanfiction when I was 13, but that was 10 years ago. And it was Lord of the Rings fanfiction. sweatdrop
If you come across one that tells a very cannon consistent full story of the books from Draco's point of view though, I'd be interested in reading it.

Here's one for you: Inter Arma.
It's set during Harry's kids' time at school, and actually opens with Dudley's daughter being found a witch. Despite the first chapter being about her, it then segues into a story more about Harry's children, particularly James. Harry is frequently present as there's a larger conflict going on outside of Hogwarts which he is heavily involved in as the Head of the Auror department. It's not as simple as just fighting, however, and there's a lot of complexity in the plot events and character interactions.
It's very well written and put together and you see a little bit of everything: action and politics, school and home life, the various Dursleys' reactions to having a witch in the family and Harry's reaction to dealing with Petunia and Vernon now as an adult and a father himself. There's a lot of James, but also a great deal of Albus and Lily and various other kids of the main cast. The Potter kids know less about the Wizarding War against Voldemort than you would at first expect (Harry's reluctant to talk about it). It involves Goblins and Centaurs and even a little bit of Tom Riddle despite him being quite dead.
It's also long enough to keep you busy for a while.
Enjoy!

There are a few really good ones, I particularly like stories by Thefinnyfreak, although she never finishes her stories, and hasn't been posting much any more.

Thanks, I spent the weekend reading the first chapters and it's pretty good except a few minor things that annoy me smile I shall check her out! I don't think it will matter that the stories aren't finished, I just like the feeling of escaping into the HP world smile

I avoid harry potter fanfiction because I love harry potter too much and I don't want to accidentally find stories that "ruin" it for me. I love the canon stories and the language and everything is awesome enough on its own for me. I do, however, read Sherlock fanfiction

I prefer fan fictions that are (relatively) canon. But it's hard to find a good fan fic, because most kids don't know how to write. ._.

If I do read fanfiction, I prefer stories that play with the boundaries a bit. (Although I do enjoy a good cannon story once in a while too.) wink My current fave HP fics are both rated M (though neither is particularly sexy). Still, I dunno if I should mention them on a PG-13 site. xp The first is about Dumbledore, Grindlewald and their ill fated summer. I love how it portrays Ariana's personality. heart The other is a Harry/Bellatrix time travel story that is challenging itself to make that couple work. It's a surprisingly awesome fic. It goes all the way from teenage Bella's time at school to an alternate future timeline...

I like Harry Potter fan fiction ... Fanfiction.net Archive of Our OwnTWCS LibraryQuotevThose sites are the best I've found for General Fan Fiction but I've also found sites that have stories exclusively about your favourite ship (what ever it may be) you just have to surf around a little to find them.
