Who: Alex & Kyou When: Morning, after Luka's treatment Where: Kyou's office in the Lab
She was still wiping her hands, as if the blood was still there. Alex frowned at the dark-skinned digits that continued to wring and twist with the memory of the slick life force that was long cleaned away, pausing to instead rub her knuckles. She'd gone home, showered, changed, got rid of the bloody clothes -- but she still could feel it. The helpless feeling of only being able to do so much weighed heavily upon her, teetering dangerously on the brink of the undeniable and ever-creeping notion of failure. She could not afford to fail the Raevans. She and Kyou were the only two that could keep them together, and given that she barely kept it together herself...
Sighing, the woman knocked firmly on the door, giving a few seconds and listening for the warlock's voice before she opened it. Alex didn't get to see much of Kyou, even if he was her boss; they were both extremely busy in rebuilding the Lab and making sure the last bits of structural damage from Roux's attack were tended to and erased. Hell, that might have been one of the last times she'd seen him, and even then it was in a haze -- a blurry memory of cold and the warmth of life receding --
Her thoughts were plain as day on her face, pain and discomfort tugging at her features. Alex quickly forced a smile, closing the door behind herself and leaning against it with a tired sigh. "Hey, boss," she greeted the man who saved her life not that long ago, keeping her tone light and teasing, "long time no see."

Kyou was sleeping when Alex knocked, his head leaning back on the chair and his mouth slightly agape, even with a trail of saliva dripping out the corner of his mouth. He had a late night, watching a new documentary and forgot about time. Blinking a few times sleepily and wiping the corner of his mouth, he called out. "Come in!"
He was still straightening himself when Alex entered. Even in his own preoccupation, he could still see that the woman seemed preoccupied herself too, tired even. Although the day still seemed early, as Kyou could tell by a quick glance at the clock on the wall. She tried to hide her worries by smiling and talking in a light tone, so Kyou tried to do the same as well, even though he is worried about her. He knows that Alex is a strong and independent woman, but sometimes he wished that she should share with him more.
"Good morning!" He greeted with enthusiasm, then he gestured towards the empty chair in front of his desk. "Come, take a seat." While Alex was moving, he opened a desk drawer and picked out two canned coffees from within. "Coffee?" Kyou offered to the woman. It was a Japanese brand cappuccino. He figured that maybe the both of them could use a boost of some sort.

"Thanks." With a touch more gentle smile, the woman let herself in as she was invited, closing the door behind herself. Crossing the room to the indicated seat, Alex took a careful seat, briefly remembering the last time she'd been there: to refer Zeke. Hopefully this visit would be as life changing, but not as terrifyingly so. At the offer, she bobbed her head, eyes brightening a little. "Coffee would be great, thank you!" Hell, even the smell would be awesome enough, but she'd take all the caffeine she could get today. Delicately accepting the can, she rolled it between her hands as she read its surface, even though the words weren't a point of focus.
Pausing, she tilted it upright and snapped it open, glancing up at Kyou thoughtfully. "So, I uh, I came by because I've been thinking a lot after the whole Luka incident." Taking a sip of the coffee, she was pleasantly surprised by the assault of coffee-bean flavor and intense sugar that came with most cappuccinos, and as such, stamped her approval on it and took another sip. Yeah, that'd keep her running for a few solid hours. "Obviously he'll be fine, but I had some concerns I wanted to speak with you about."

After Alex took the offered can, Kyou popped open his and took a few sips. Yeap that woke him up a little more to focus. The brand of coffee is his recent favorite, instant boost of caffeine without needing all the efforts to enter the kitchen and actually brewing some coffee himself.
"Oh yeah I heard he came in, but what actually happened?" The whole Luka incident happened earlier, when he was still half asleep and he only heard vague details from Lazarus. Although he was glad that Alex mentioned he'll be fine, but still... Kyou has an inquisitive mind, even if it's for gossip. "I hope he was not hurt too bad." He prodded gently, trying not to sound too insensitive about it as he sipped some more of the coffee, quietly wishing it was cold.
Despite his growing curiosity about the issue though, he had a feeling that Alex is here not just to report about the incident only. "And what are these concerns you speak of?" He asked, leaning forwards with his hand on the table, fingers wrapped around the canned coffee.

Alex smiled a little, but it was not the type that expressed happiness. "He had a run in with LuLu." Just saying the words made her chest feel heavy. It had been a long time since she'd seen the golden-earred Frei, but it seemed that she was always in turmoil and that no one was there to help her. The very notion of it made her heart squeeze tighter. "She appears to be having an issue with her essence, and -- it's not the first time this has happened to our Raevans." Our Raevans. To her, they were family. And to her, she was failing them.
Leaning forward a little, her elbows on her knees, she rolled the can between her fingers, feeling the liquid slosh against the aluminum sides. Lifting her green eyes from the mouth of her drink, she looked at Kyou almost sternly, as though her resolve needed a stubborn foundation. "My concern is that there's only so much I can do." The can crinkled just a little as her fingers tightened. "I'm not a doctor, Kyou, I -- I'm an employee who is doing their damndest. I know enough of the Raevan's structure to barely get by, but..."
Pursing her lips, the brightness Alex usually wore was absent. There was dark uncertainty, but as she found the rest of her words, a brief flicker of hope dared light her troubled gaze. "I know you...have magic capability." He wasn't human either, but she was hoping that wasn't a pre-requisite. "Is there anything...any way I might...gain magical aid or knowledge to help?" It sounded so ridiculous, even to her own ears, but she'd been dealing with this magical beings for many years. There had to be some sort of answer to her favor. "So I can be the help they need and deserve?"
