I got a new job recently. im a waitress at longhorn steakhouse now. I still have my job at the small pizza place with the boss that isn't all the way for gay rights.

new boss at the new job is fantastic! we are allowed to kick people out if they are being homophobic assholes. also one of my coworkers was making a huge deal about a gay guy she saw and my boss took her to the side and asked her to stop. I think he saw it was making me feel uncomfortable. im openly bi at work. the best part is, when I came out no one made a big deal about it! no men said that's hot, no women said ew don't hit on me, everyone just continued the conversation as if I had told them my natural hair color isn't red.

this is the first time ive felt so accepted in one place by everyone around me. its a great feeling. I feel normal. I don't feel like that one chick who isn't straight like I did sometimes at my other job

That is WONDERFUL! A true equality-in-the-workplace feel! Sad that its still such a damn battle today though.

I work in Medical Billing as an Advanced AR Specialist for full time work. We have a VERY comfortable environment that embraces equality no matter what. And, we have a zero-tolerance policy in place should someone feel the need to be otherwise, as well.

My other job that I do, is by word-of-mouth for now, as a caterer, cake making/decorating, etc to keep up with my culinary skills. I accept services from LGBT without hesitation for they are often denied services by those who scream 'religion' the minute they breathe the same damn air... its disgusting really... My husband and I were married by a JP who believes in marriage equality - that was what we wanted when we got married... no religious jargon, as we both do not follow religion ever. When we invited her to dinner to get to know her, we were adamant that no religious verbiage to be used. She damn near hugged us to death and shared with us that she is an open advocate for equality in marriage. We were very happy hearing that she shared our views as well.

There is certainly power in numbers.. and when done well, is a recipe for success! heart

the only way being Christian would be a good excuse to deny gay rights would be is jesus said anything about gays, but he didn't, so they are just hiding behind their own ignorance and trying to cover it up with a book that doesn't even really mention it in any part worth listening to

my husband and I had a religious ceremony and enjoyed it, but it was more for my benefit than for his. we are both some mix between pagan and Christian

That's awesome! It's hard to find jobs in this economy, let alone ones with an LGBT-friendly environment. Glad you had some luck!
