Personality/Mannerism:
Saizo is very straight-headed; often unable to see a different perspective and therefore it is very challenging for him to understand others and their actions. Everything is black and white to him; it’s either wrong or right and depending on the situation, he can choose either without regret. He can come off as rude to others while he claims he is only stating the truth, thus he is very cold in his words. Like many with a past like his, Saizo rarely smiles, but when he does, it lights up the room and creates an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. However, therein lies the problem with that aspect of the jounin.
He most always carries an eternal scowl on his face, whether talking to someone he likes or dislikes. In truth, he could downright adore someone, but that someone wouldn’t know behind his angry façade unless this someone knew him well. He is also very brash and will act without hesitation if he knows time is limited or his emotions get the better of him. Saizo puts on a tough attitude, but he is willing to help those in need. He has a stubborn streak and doesn’t like to reveal his weaknesses. He also veils his good or kind actions with exaggerated annoyance and agitation.
Saizo turns a cold shoulder to all except the Kazekage. Although he still comes off as a cold person towards the Kazekage, there are moments, while in the presence of him that everyone in the room can tell that the Kazekage is Saizo’s true friend, though the feelings may not be returned. Saizo is fiercely loyal to the man and will die for him with a smile on his face. Saizo would rather bite off his own tongue than to stray from that loyalty. Many claim that they have never seen such intense loyalty as with Saizo to the Kazekage in their lives.

He doesn’t like much of anything, as he feels apathetic towards most things. However, he likes to sleep where he can see the stars and to wake up to see the sun. As such, he often sleeps on a rooftop; anyone’s rooftop.
Dislikes:
Saizo hates dogs with a dying passion. People have often seen him shoot menacing glares at the canines in order to keep them away from him. He also dislikes killing, but being a shinobi, he must do what is asked of him.

The user’s feet produce pale green dragon scales and their toenails grow sharp, but not longer. Although the toenails are hard to work with, the muscles in the user’s legs strengthen and somewhat causes the user to jump higher and run faster.
• Eyes of the Dragon ~Rank C
The user’s eyes turn yellow and their pupils turn to vertical lines. The user’s new dragon vision allows them to see the chakra flow within the target, revealing to the user the target’s true strength and which chakra vein needs more work. This is an especially important technique when teaching others.
• Claws of the Dragon ~ Rank B
The user’s hands produce pale green dragon scales and their nails grow sharp, but not longer, and strong. The nails have the ability to be used like ten tiny knives.

The user is able to hear things from ten miles away. However, if anything is within two miles and makes a loud noise, it will hurt the user.
• Wings of the Dragon ~Rank A
The user grows a pair of dragon wings (sizes differ between each person) and becomes able to fly. However, some weakness comes with this technique because the muscles in the wings haven’t grown as they aren’t always in use. Although the wings can remain intact for any length of time, the user must take a break in order to achieve the same strength and speed of the wings.

The user gains the ability to breathe fire. Depending on the stage the user has gotten to, the fire can grow in size in strength. This is a very difficult technique, because it is unlike other fire breathing jutsu. It is not a onetime burst of fire. This technique lasts until the user runs out of chakra or cancels it. If the user has reached stage 3 of the kekkai genkai, then the fire becomes blue due to the insanely high temperature of the fire they breathe.

Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack.

Henge no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents.

Nawanuke no Jutsu is a very basic Ninjutsu that allows a ninja to escape from rope binds.
• Kinobori no Waza - Act of Tree Climbing ~ E Rank
Kinobori no Waza, the art of tree climbing serves a dual purpose. Taking part in Kinobori Shugyou (Tree Climbing Training) helps a ninja learn how to focus their chakra. It also teaches the ninja how to run up trees and walk on vertical walls. The training helps the ninja learn how to focus just the right amount of chakra to a particular part of their body. The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the hardest location to master chakra focusing. So by gaining the art of this skill, the ninja will have any jutsu available (theoretically) because they will be able to focus their chakra as needed.
• Suimen Hokou no Waza - Act of Water Surface Walking ~ E Rank
A variation on the Kinobori no Waza (Act of Tree Climbing), the art of water surface walking allows a ninja to walk on water as if it was a solid surface. Focusing an even amount of chakra out of the soles of their feet, they can balance themselves on the very surface of the water.
• Shunshin no Jutsu - Body Flicker Technique –D
Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance.
• Swamp of the Underworld ~ A
By changing the surface of an object beneath an enemy into mud and creating a swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.
• Earth Prison Dome of Magnificent Nothingness ~ B
This technique traps the victims inside a self-repairing dome of earth which is almost instantaneously able to reform. It is able to absorb the chakra of anyone trapped inside. However, the users chakra is not evenly distributed throughout the dome. Near the back, the user’s chakra is much weaker, making the dome weaker in that spot. This jutsu can also be used as a protection against foes and can surround the user in order to protect him.
• Rock Lodging Destruction ~ B
This technique causes a cave-in by destroying the equilibrium that holds the cave together. Just removing a single vital stone throws off the balance of the cave, making it unexpectedly fragile and causing a domino effect that destroys the entire cave.

Background:
Saizo was born into an infamous clan known as Doragonzu no Tsuyo-sa, or Strength of Dragons. His father was the Koikawa Clan’s leader and was a ruthless, unearthly man married to the kindest woman in all the lands, Misao Koikawa. Saizo’s childhood was just short of abusive with his father beating on him whenever he had done something wrong. His father taught him how to pick pockets and fight, but his mother told Saizo never to kill. While Saizo was still a young child, he would sleep in the same bed as his mother and she would tell him that killing others would make her upset. Saizo, in his innocent years, asked his mother why she never slept with his father and she replied with a solemn smile, ”You have a warm body that keeps me comfortable in these cold times.” Saizo smiled at his mother and nodded, agreeing that she herself was warm. ”Sai-chan, you know what’s cold?” Misao added, snuggling against his cheek. ”The bodies of the people this clan has killed. They are deathly cold.” Saizo blinked at what his mother said and he nodded, despite not understanding what she meant.
Years passed and Saizo became more and more aware of the sins his clan committed: killing, selling people as slaves, stealing; Truth be told, Saizo also stole, but as his mother wished, he never murdered. One day, Saizo was coming home from a visit at Sunagakure with a fellow clan member and he walked in on his father slapping Misao across the face, causing her to fall backwards and tumble into a plant. Saizo froze at the door, afraid and unsure of what was happening.
”Stop confusing the boy, Misao!” his father yelled, not realizing his son was right across the room. ”How can an emotionally weak boy become leader of this clan someday?! Stop spinning his head with lies!”
”You don’t understand, Koiichi! No one in this clan understands!” Misao cried, cradling her injured cheek with her hand. ”Killing is wrong! I won’t throw my child into a world where killing will put you higher on the ladder!”
Koiichi radiated killing intent as he took a step towards Misao, but then Saizo’s mother noticed her child standing, frozen, at the door. She immediately forced a smile and stood up. ”Honey,” Misao said with a gentle voice despite having been hurt. She walked right passed Koiichi to put her delicate hands on Saizo’s shoulders. ”I’m glad you’re home. How was your trip?” Saizo wasn’t able to tear his eyes from the bruise that was beginning to form on his mother’s cheek. He blinked and looked over at his father, who was looking over his shoulder to glare at Misao’s back. Saizo flinched at the expression his father was giving his mother and he clenched his fists. Koiichi ordered the two to leave and they did just that. Quickly. However, just before Saizo left, his father called his name and said with a deathly low, threatening voice, ”I didn’t do that to your mother. Forget what you saw."
More years passed and Saizo was being trained by his clan to master his Kekkai Genkai. He enjoyed the times when his father was too busy to deal with him, even for weeks. He enjoyed helping his mother cook for the clan and helped her clean the clothes. It was incredibly peaceful when he didn’t talk with his father. Saizo was getting skilled at pickpocketing and he often travelled to Sunagakure to steal from the rich folk that lived there. He would bring home lobsters and meats far beyond what the little town of Rice Village ever ate. However, his mother would scold him whenever he got home late at night. One night, he arrived late from Sunagakure and expected more reprimanding from his kind-hearted mother, so he picked up a flower on the way home. With a nervous smile, he clenched the flower’s stem in his hand and slid open the door to his home, saying, ”Mother! I’m ho-!” he paused mid-sentence to find the room packed with people from his clan. On the other side of the room laid a body coated in a crimson liquid. It was Saizo’s mother. For a brief moment, Saizo thought it was a joke and the corner of his mouth twitched into a very terse smile, but disappeared. The flower he had brought home for his mother slipped loosely from his grip and floated slowly to the ground.
”Saizo,” his father began nervously. Koiichi was the closest to Misao’s body with a bloody dagger in his hand. ”Think, boy. I didn’t do this.” This reminded of the time when he had slapped Misao and claimed he didn’t do it, but Saizo had witnessed it. Saizo’s body was trembling madly and he took a step forward as his eyes turned into golden slits. He took more and more steps forward and scales appeared on his forearms and legs and face. His nails and teeth grew incredibly sharp and his dark blue hair stood on end. His pace began to speed up and his wild voice came out in peeps until it burst through his throat in a frightening roar that nearly shook Rice Village. And then it all happened in a blur to Saizo. He felt his body being torn at and he felt his nails and teeth tearing things apart. Blood and black mist clouded his vision as he ripped apart his clan in a blind fury. This was when Saizo unlocked Stage 3 of his clan’s Kekkai Genkai and murdered nearly his entire family. He was only vaguely aware that some of them escaped. By the time he was able to control himself, it was only his father left.
”St-Stop! Please! Saizo!” his father pleaded, pinning his back to the wall in his sitting position as Saizo took steps towards the man with an odd look on his face. He wasn’t smiling like others might’ve. His eyes glowed yellow in the darkness of night and his mouth was formed into a straight line. What looked so fearsome of the sixteen year old boy was his blood splattered clothes and skin. He looked like the very monster his clan was striving to become. His tongue snaked out of his mouth and ran along a streak of blood, tasting it. Blood was dripping from his chin from having ripped people’s flesh apart with his teeth. He lifted his hand, which was also smothered in blood, never taking his shimmering eyes off of Koiichi. ”Father,” Saizo began with a low voice. ”Aren’t you happy? Isn’t this what you wanted?” Saizo’s voice was gentle and quiet. ”Why did you kill her? Why did you open her chest and reveal her heart with your blade? Was it because it was the one thing you didn’t own?”
The room was splattered with blood and corpses. Koiichi swallowed deeply, a cold sweat had broken out on his face. ”Saizo, listen to me, boy. I didn’t do it. I didn’t-!”
”Liar!!” Saizo interrupted, the first time he spoke so loud. It boomed and travelled to the outside world still coated in darkness. His father flinched at the word. Saizo crouched close to his father and stared at him with two glowing, yellow orbs. Saizo reached out and took the man’s collar in his hand. ”Should I do it as well? I’ve always wanted to see how cold someone’s heart could be.”
His father’s breath hitched and he grabbed Saizo’s shirt, trying to tear him off of him, screaming all the while. Saizo drew his hand back and he smiled for the first time since his mass slaughtering. The menacing, devilish smile of his son was the last thing Koiichi saw before a hand pierced through his torso and ripped out his heart. Saizo’s hand came out of the other side of his father’s back and it remained there for a while until Saizo removed it, along with his heart. Saizo examined it with curiousity. It was much warmer than he thought it would be. His entire arm was sloshing in the blood of his father and he stood up, inspecting his work. He was surrounded by the familiar faces that taught him how to use chopsticks. He was surrounded by the corpses of his family. It was so cold. So cold. His mother was right about that. Corpses were extremely cold. The thought of his mother made Saizo’s heart nearly stop. He had killed. He had done the one thing his mother told him never to do. Saizo dropped to his knees and his chin pointed towards the bleeding ceiling. His arms dangled loosely at his sides as the realization sunk in. It was then that Saizo broke. The fact that his mother was dead and that he broke her promise drove him mad. Very similar to dragons, Saizo let out a deafening roar, but it was more like a bone-chilling wail.
The sun was just about to rise from the horizon when Saizo left his house, still smothered in blood, with his mother’s body in his arms. He sat on his front porch and remained there until a figure appeared on the horizon. Tears had somewhat washed the blood from his cheeks, but there were still stains on his pale flesh. The figure’s form was black due to the backlighting of the sun. Saizo didn’t even look up. Whatever would be done to him didn’t matter anymore. Nothing really mattered. His family was gone and it was his entire fault. He clenched his mother and planted his forehead onto her bleeding stomach. She was cold. Saizo briefly pondered what his last words to her were. He couldn’t remember.
”Are you hurt?”
Saizo looked up quickly to find the figure not ten feet away from him. He still wasn’t able to see his face, but there was a hint of a small smile. Saizo growled at the man and held tighter onto his mother.
”Are you cold?”
That was when Saizo ceased to make any noise. He thought he stopped breathing. He stared at the man who had a warm smile on his face. Saizo was cold. Everything around him was cold. Without any warning, the figure was suddenly much closer and threw his jacket around Saizo’s shoulders. The man took a step back and grinned, inspecting it, ”Is it warm? It looks good on you!” Saizo felt tears well up in his eyes and the boy sobbed. It was warm. The coat was warm. The man’s smile was warm. Everything became warm again. Even the tears that streamed down his face.
This man, who turned out to be the Kazekage, offered to let Saizo join his village and urged him to train his abilities. Being sheltered in his home for his entire life, Saizo was amazed to find out that there were others somewhat like him. He joined the shinobi forces and slowly rose to the rank of jounin. Saizo hopes only to protect the man that offered him the warmth and will to live again. However, in the back of his mind, there is an urge to avenge his mother’s death and find the one who killed her. This is where Saizo’s journey begins.
