Back Story:
...childhood years...
Born in "The City", Julianne was a rambunctious little girl. Her parents, Madeline and Sam Horan, were both modest Engineers who were considered poor. Sam Horan owned a small shop that offered technical repairs to the lower income people of The City. He was a strong believer in helping those that need help without reward. Julianne's mother gave birth to four children. Julianne, Elliott, Jenny, and Cassandra (Julianne being the third born). Julianne's relationship with her siblings was ideal. Her older brother Elliott was a genius that showed promise with creating new machines. Her sisters were more interested in the local boys that would play garbage ball shirtless. Julianne, herself, was fascinated by the human anatomy.
Madeline had a bookshelf in their mid-sized home that was stocked with old textbooks from her youth that she collected. Madeline was formally a teacher but retired after being afflicted with a severe case of malaria. Julianne would read the various science-related textbooks repeatedly, asking her mother about the various highlighted words and the detailed charts. She aspired to become a doctor for the lower income families like her father did. It was her dream.
...teenage years...
In her teenage years, Julianne attended school and excelled at her academics. Her brother Elliott soon left home to marry a young girl named Mary whom he'd fancied for some time. Her older sister Jenny ran away from home with a young Alchemist named David (to which their father disapproved). Cassandra and Julianne are a year apart, so their relationship was always the closest between all four Horan children. Cassandra was very popular among the students at their school and Julianne was the opposite.
...adult to present...
Julianne finished her schooling at seventeen. She then entered into learning the ways of Engineering from her aged father, while attending medical school to become proficient in healing. Julianne aimed to create artificial prosthetics for those who lost limbs and be able to fully function as they once did.
Julianne's medical schooling lasted up until she was twenty. She didn't really have any friends, but secretly fancied a young lad that was in her class. His name was Alexander Nolan, and he was beautiful. Julianne was a shy young woman that would not ever confess her feelings to anyone.
One day, while browsing through the market for apples, Julianne discovered a liter of small kittens with no mother under a worn blanket.
"Oh, you poor things!" she exclaimed dropping her collection of apples. She cooed at them, stroking their thin fur softly. "You're coming home with me." she whispered. Julianne gathered them up in the blanket and proceeded to carry them. As she turned the corner from the alley, she collided with a solid figure. She fell to the ground, gripping the small kittens to her chest. "I'm so sorry miss!" a voice rang out. Julianne looked up to see Alexander standing before her in a small panic.
