Aaron Eveans

He almost walked past the woman with the armor and the long hair after bumping shoulders with her. Running into people at the marketplace was common and Aaron rarely looked up anywhere, didn't pay any attention to the throngs of strangers. Then he heard her voice.

"Leah!" he exclaimed with a bright smile. He finally remembered, that niggling feeling in the back of his head was beginning to bother him. Then she said his name. "Wait how do you know that?" Aaron asked, spinning around to face the woman and whoa. Seeing her face was weird. It was something akin to pulling a familiar face out of his memory though...it wasn't in his memory. She was familiar, scarily so. Where did he meet her?

"I think I know you too," he said, peering at her with narrowed eyes. "But I don't," he muttered. "Your name's Leah isn't it?" Not knowing where he met her was going to bug him. He rarely forgot faces but apparently he had forgotten hers.

"Wait for me, I'll write you letters"
I could see how you stand with your eyes to the floor
But still I swore
To hide the doubt...

Cause a thousand words
Call out through the ages
They'll fly to you
Even though we can't see
I know they are reaching you, suspended on silver wings

She heard him call his name, it was as if they both knew each other but they didn't! "I- i don't know" Leah admitted, suddenly questioning herself "I just know it, how do you know mine?!" she exclaimed after. She couldn't remember where she knew him from though, no where in her past had she ever, ever met this man. It was impossible. She may have passed him, but never had she been formerly introduced to the man.

Thunder crackled far in the distance just then, like that sort of distant storm growing on a hot, humid summer's day in the far distance only meaning that a hot and sticky downpour would going to come soon after. Taking a gaze up tot eh sky she could see the grey sky approaching far from the north, but paid it no attention. "This is strange" Leah replied. "You're a... a hunter? Beast hunter? bounty hunter..." she kept searching her mind for what he was, he was definitely something along those lines, she knew it!

Oh a thousand words
One thousand embraces
Will cradel you
Making all of your weary days seem far away
They'll hold you forever

...when I turn back the pages
Anger might have been the answer
What if I'd hung my head and said that I couldn't wait
But now I'm stroing enough to know it's not too late

They knew each other. But they didn't. Sometimes, his mind was an absolute mystery, even to him. "I don't know how I know your name, but I bet magic's at work here," he muttered, eyes narrowing in trepidation. Certainly a few spells here and there came in handy when he was tracking, but anything more complicated than a simple charm was beyond him. Heaving an irritated huff, Aaron rolled his eyes before offering a hand to shake. "Since we haven't officially met, let's make this marginally less creepy by introducing ourselves. Aaron Eveans and yes, I am a hunter of sorts. I'm the guy who goes after all the things that go bump in the night," he said with a smile.

Peering at her with squinted eyes, another...memory? tickled the back of his mind. "You've got a relative, male...son? Husband!" his grin suddenly faded when another tidbit of information floated to the top of his mind. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. Sorry for your loss," he murmured, bowing his head. Glancing up at the incoming rain, he estimated about twenty minutes before it would arrive. Plenty of time to get under some shelter. It was just some water either way.

She couldn't help but "hmm" to herself after Aaron muttered something about magic, it had to be something complex for something like this to happen to the both of them. He then went on to introduce himself, and with an impressed, raised brow she then crossed her arms and said "Nice to meet you" before holding out her hand before him to then said "I'm Leah Helean... simply looking for adventure" with a smile.

The thunder roared again from the horizon, but the storm clouds were surely coming inf aster and shortly they would have consumed all the sky. It was definitely a horrific storm on the way, many of the people in the bazaar were already either packing up or running for the nicer parts of the city were cover could be found.

Suddenly he blurted some words out, she could see him trying to remember these pieces of faint information but suddenly feeling like he shouldn't have said anything. At first he had her interest, but now she was confused. After her smile died she asked "My loss?" with narrowed eyes. "You're right about my husband but he's alive and well i an assure you that!" she chuckled.

Perhaps whatever happened to them, if it were true to ahve ever happened and not jsut some crazy dream she was having, perhaps in that world that no longer exists she lost her husband... It was a horrific thought, she could never imagine her life without him. Then, again, the stormr aged on, but this time the thunder echoed across the skies and with it a rattling "BOOM" that let a pulse of purple light stretch across the clouds before dying out, and as it did several holes in the clouds spiralled in on themselves like update-down sink-holes.

"I think catching up is going to have to wait..." she then said, as streams of blackness shot from the holes in the sky and as soon as they made contact with the ground, a flash of fork lightning struck the ground. When her vision came back to her, all that she could see were grotesque demons from Hell, they were definitely demons, she had never seen one before but nothing this horrific and close to being a skeleton could exist in this world. They had sunken eye-sockets and giant claws for fingers, one of them wore robes and has an extra pair of arms coming from behind it's neck, chains floating aound it's body as the ground began to crawl with darkness. "What the..." she exclaimed, watching as everyone ran... and as the bigger demon of those that had come continued to seemingly call more from the skies. The smaller ones chattered and stared at Leah and Aaron like they were food.

"I think these go bump in the night, Aaron!" she shouted, then pulling a black katana from her leg that unfolded and buzzed with a blue static electricity as it completed itself.

Shifting slightly as she crossed her arms, he let out an internal sigh of relief when she shook his hand, grinning. "Well, it's nice to actually meet you. Hope we won't forget this time," he joked. Looking up with the rumble of thunder, his eyes widened at the sight of the thick, overhanging clouds. That was a bit fast considering how the wind had been blowing. Not fast enough for this. Bad storm, he tried to reason, though he hadn't felt the wind begin to pick up.

After his blunder, Aaron let out a quiet, relieved sigh. "That's good, don't know why I'm thinking that if it isn't true," he murmured. "Weird though," he continued with a subtle frown. Different world perhaps? Whatever it was, it certainly wasn't the case now. A second clap of what he thought was thunder filled the air as holes began forming in the dense clouds, "unusual" weather to say the least. "Well sh*t, I think you're right," he muttered as the demons began to form, each one even more grotesque and misshapen then the last.

Yanking his gun from its holster, he fed in a normal round of ammo. He would have to test the waters. It was a rare day where he fought demons over the NATURAL monsters which filled the lands. Those were hard enough, let alone these little gremlins from Hell. Curling his finger around the trigger, he let off a blast, sending a bullet straight through the head of the nearest demon.

And suddenly, the battle into the unknown had begun. Aaron lit the signal, metaphorically, by triggering his weapon and sent his first bullet soaring through the air. When it hit the demon's head, it was a bloody mess as it exploded out it's back, dark blood and skin splattering on the floor, "Great shot!" Leah announced. The leader of the demons shouted something vulgar and foreign to Leah, she wanted to know what it was saying to it's minions but then thought, she didn't want to find out. The smaller demon's lashed out like cats as they got down to their limbs and ran at them. With wide eyes Leah was astonished,t he thrill of the fight was finally kicking in and when she brought up her blade to defend herself it cut straight through its flesh and bone, leaving two body pieces behind her as she flung her blade to her side, the blood quickly being thrown to the ground. This is disgusting she thought to herself. The demon's kept coming as they gathered from darkness along the floor, much to her dislike.

Now she had to throw herself into the fray, and running forwards she jumped over one of teh diving demons and landed behind it, thrusting her sword through the chest of another, and when she pulled her blade free she swung on her heel to cut thr throat of the next behind her. The leader at that moment let out a cry as it let a dark magic burst from it's hands and towards teh ground. Then the earth began to shake and from beneath teh ground began to rise a monstrosity made of dirt, black magic, and a wispy blue flame from within it's weird eye sockets. It was a golem, heavy duty and could take a beating, this one however was embedded with the forgotten soul of a warrior, much to Lucifial's favourite kind of battle was through using the dead against his enemies, often shrouding their mind in lies so they would fight for him with un-wavered loyalty.

"Oh ew," Aaron muttered as he sank a few more shots into the approaching demons, their black blood fountaining up with each successfully aimed shot. The blood wasn't nearly as bad as the sliming he had gotten earlier but, bodily liquids of any sort warranted a healthy amount of disgust. His attention was then drawn from the dead demons as the larger, boss began screaming, something foreign, probably insulting, and most definitely troubling for their little attack.

With the end of its little chanting ceremony, the larger monster aimed a burst of dark magic at the ground. Quickly reloading his gun with normal bullets, Aaron watched in vague horror as another monster rose from the ground, bigger than the others and made of rocks. "D*mn it," he huffed, reminding himself to get some sort of acidic bullets made. It was a good idea, just...needed some work. But metal bullets wouldn't make a dent on that thing.

Emptying his gun, he began to run through the numerous boxes of ammo he had on his person before choosing a singular bullet from the many hidden throughout his person. "Hey Leah!" he called out, carefully loading it into the chamber of his gun. "Can your sword cut this guy apart?" he asked, nodding toward the golem, narrowing his eyes in thought as he lifted the gun, tracking up at the head before going back down at its feet.

As the vermin were shot and sliced, the bigger enemy was just growing bigger. As the beast raised from the ground and let out it's bellow, Leah wasn't expecting it to have much fighting skill, just heavy attacks. So, when she rushed forwards to try and attack it she attempted a hit on it's legs but was swiped out of the way by it's huge fist. Luckily, she deflected it with her blade was was sent skidding across the sandy ground several feet nearby Aaron.

That was when he came up with the plan, she looked over to him and shouted "Yeah?!" before swiping her sword beside her to slice a single demon in half. When he suggested cutting this thing apart, she followed his gaze at the approaching golem and thought for only a second when she nodded her head and said "Sure thing!", guessing that his next bullet would do something to make this thing easier to slice and dice. Then, noticing some demons crawling up to her like rats she had to think fast to get rid of them whilst they focused on the golem. She spun her blade over her head a few times as the elctricity glowed blue and charged around her blade before she thrust it down into the ground. She felt the charge of power leave her katana and watched as the ground lit up with blue sparks, they were faint, but as soon as they hit the feet of the demons they ignited and enveloped the demons and shocked them as they burst into black dust all around them.

Sparing a glance over at Leah as she skidded over, Aaron turned back to the monster muttering to himself. "Well the biggest fall the hardest," before pulling the trigger right as it was about to take a step. A small pellet shot from the muzzle of the gun to attach itself to the monster's leg. Sticky webbing then burst from the seed, entangling the legs of the golem. Staggering first one day, then the next, it eventually toppled over with a thunderous BOOM. Reloading his gun with normal bullets to send a few through the smaller demons, he bellowed over to Leah.

"CUT ITS HEAD OFF." Decapitation worked for almost everything that he had hunted before. It was one of the most effective ways to take down monsters, right under burning the body and scattering the ashes to the four corners of the earth. Going for the eyes usually helped too. Especially when there was a brain behind those eyes. Hopefully taking off its head would be enough.

Suddenly by his side, he shot the bullet, and at first she was wondering what exactly he had planned. That small pellet of a bullet wasn't going to electrocute the whole thing, reduce it to shambles with the force of an explosion... but when it let loose a torrent of tentacles that wrapped and tightened around it's legs she was genuinely astounded. He was smart, Aaron, and he knew the safest and most effective options! As it began tumbling she rushed backwards, keeping an eye on any stray demons that go too close, one particularly trying to get her from behind, which she ducked beneath to dodge its swiping arms. Bringing her spare fist back an electric pulse glowing blue and static charges began to hiss before punching it straight in the gut, where the burst sent it flying. When the behemoth plummeted to the ground and struck the it with so much force that it shook like an earthquake, Leah was certain that now was the time.

Aaron's signal and orders were exactly what she needed, "Got it!!!" she replied at teh top of her lungs. Staring at the great mosnter's head he eyes focused until the HALO systemlit up and a red ring with spikes targeted and locked onto it. Flinging her sword backwards it lit and buzzed with that same static power as before, her whole body in fact followed the same pattern. She took in a breath and began to run, faster and faster, mroe energy climaxing within her armour as she called upon the teachings of the Injustira Syndicate. Her husband taught them to her, as a member of the New Magistrate, it was mandatory he knew some. Focusing her power her blade was also surrounded in a pure white light that sung as it soared through the air before she leaped into the air. When she hit the floor, her blade cut through the rock behemoth like a hot knife through butter and the white light shun through its cracked and crevices in one single wave motion before the rocks began to fall and break apart. Luckily, the power she conjured from what she had learned also exorcised the spirit. Giving it just the briefest of moments to warn Aaron and Leah of the oncoming darkness.

The spirit became that of an aged warrior... and she wouldn't have realised it yet, but a ripple of white light spread across the floor as it dissolved the bodies of the critter demons and cleansed the stone of the golem. He said "Please! Please stop the terror from spreading! Lies and Betrayal has shrouded the land of the departed, and now it's spreading. Save your world before it's too late!". Before they coudl reply, it vanished and they were back in darkness, the storm clouds above no longer giving birth to the servants of hell and the twisted souls of the dead, just leaving a shadow cast across all of Asmodius.

At the unleashing of the unfamiliar move to take down the golem, Aaron could only stop and stare at the white light that flashed to take down the monster. His mouth fell open and the grip he had on his gun slackened as the sword sunk into the cobblestone pathway with what seemed like no effort at all. He could only watch as the spirit rose into the air, dissipating with the blowing of an ominous wind and the warning. Well that wasn't good, now was it?

"Wh-" before he could get out the choked out sentence, all the demons that had been attacking them disappeared with the golem. Despite the disappearance of the monsters, there remained a certain...tension that seemed to remain in the air. It wasn't anything palpable, nothing to be that easily detected but he could feel it. Shadowing over the entirety of the kingdom. "What the **** was that?" he said blankly. This did not feel good at all. The wolf in him was absolutely terrified, cowering in a corner, and his instincts were never wrong.

But because he was an idiot, he was going to ignore the far far smarter portion of his self and continue with the adventure. "Well what now?" he asked. What could be done? There were no monsters to fight and nothing to act as a hint other than the spirit's cyptic words. Something was obviously was terrorizing the afterworld...were they going to go down there?! What had he gotten himself into?

Feeling her muscles begin to ache with the slightest ebb, Leah folded her blade into her leg armour and slouched slightly after the spirit vanished. They were both left gawking at the result of her attack. The power of the Injustira syndicate was something she respected but never quite understood, but after seeing ow she exorcised the spirit she began to understand that their power was truly something divine.

Raising her head to Aaron as he expressed his astonishment, she couldn't help but shake her head after. This cloud above them was so menacing and so mysterious, it held something secret and sinister at it's source. When he asked what they should do, Leah felt the need to search within the HALO system. It only took moments to flash into activation, across it spread the map of Occulas as it's band of advanced holographs got taller, more of a cylinder around her head now. Darting across from one city to the other, she used got some footage from the news channels broadcasting just now. "It's happening everywhere" she reluctantly stated, pulling one of the holograms from her HALO and letting it hover between them so Aaron could see the various different emergency broadcasts. The first one she showed him was from Shard City, they dealt with storms there all the time, their weathermancers often called for them, but by the looks of the footage the weathermancers, and even the Circle were out defending the city from their tall spires. The next few were footage of the dark horizon covering other areas of Occulas. Then she showed him Entei, it hadn't been hit by demons yet, but the clouds were already covering. The GRID, the defence system in place at Entei, was already on standby, robotic guards stationed all over. Then she got one from Neutral City, it was of the Pristine Fields were she found some others like herself and Aaron fighting off the demons.

"It looks like the cities are okay at the moment... but these monsters look relentless, this must be the biggest crisis Occulas has faced in years!" she admitted, still looking over various images, even social networking sites were already uploading images and footage. But then, she couldn't help but look away from her HALO as sudden sound crashed through the rumbles of the cloud. The sound was pristine, it chimed, the brightness of what caused the sound glared at her from the corner of her eyes. Striding to her side, she looked up. With one great boom, the sky was pierced with a crimson red beam of bright light that came from atop the Royal Palace. Then her heart felt worse than before, not physically, but inside she knew that that beam was no good.

That beam was the Asmodius' Corps announcing a national threat. Each and every city had their own, Castayu Del'yir of Shard had a green beam, Entei; blue, and once upon a time the Conclave had a purple beam at the Bone City. Skyfall had a white beam, and she was sure enough that all these beams would be activated soon. It meant that all of Occulas would be in great peril, all Elites would come to the Guildeam's call, Lords and Ladies joining with graduates of Ravencrest Academy, Guardians and Elites protecting their world of peace. Soon enough, the Guildeam would be holding an emergency meeting and-

"You there!" came a young but boastful voice. Looking away from the red beam of light that barely managed to escape through the clouds above, she found a man in gleaming golden armour with red cloth caressing her skin beneath, his hair was a surprisingly beautiful lush shade of strawberry blonde. He had a similarly astounding blade by his side, along with several Asmodius Guards. He was pointing at Leah and Aaron, she didn't know what to do, were they going to get the blame?! The young man spoke up and asked "Did you just defeat those demons?" with a suspicious brow-line, he could no longer see the dark figures he saw from a distance earlier. She nodded and managed to admit "Yes, we both did". He lowered his hand and the guards seemed to ease as he replied softly with "Then there is yet still hope for the Iron City. I am Arwren Gueis." She knew that name, how did she know that name? "Lord Commander of the Asmodius Corps, representative of this city and it's people."
