Name: Simon Pierce
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Height: 5’7
Weight: 155 lbs
Sexuality: Used to be bisexual. Currently isn’t sexually attracted to anyone.
Faction: Engineer
Occupation: Inventor; currently in a straightjacket and a white room.
Physical Appearance: Very pale, light brown hair, thinner than average, and about average height. Simon used to wear a lot of gears and a brown coat when he was an active inventor. Following the accident he was forced to wear a straight jacket for a year in his asylum time. Lately the doctors have let him wear normal clothes, although the black slacks and black shirt he wears seems depressing, he’s comfortable and that’s all the doctors care about. He always wears sleeves but under the sleeves are scars, some from the accident and some from himself.
Personality: Since the “incident” Simon has been fairly reserved, although others often see him talk to himself. Speaking out loud helps him think clearly, and he could care less if others think he’s strange. Simon has a creative mind and whenever he thinks of something clever he gets excited. He gets really excited when others are clever, and likes to see others succeed. He’s fond of shy people and although others think he’s socially awkward he’s very much aware of everyone and simply chooses to be quiet when he has nothing to say. In a conflict he cares very little for who is right or wrong and simply looks for solutions. He is very whimsy in his discoveries and often shouts with excitement in the middle of conversation.
Flaws: Talks to himself, stutters, not a fan of sunlight, used to self-harm, fighting depression, has long-term and short-term memory loss, often not paying attention to his surroundings.
Back Story: Simon was already an accomplished inventor by the age of 19. He wasted no time getting married to his beloved Caroline when he was 20. A year later they had a son named Jayce. When Simon was 27 there was an incident with one of his inventions (a potential generator that uses alternative power sources). It activated in the middle of the night and Simon heard it running. He pulled the lever to turn it off, and instantly his house imploded. Simon barely made it out alive. His family wasn’t so fortunate. Although no one is sure what happened, and there’s decent evidence of sabotage, Simon blames himself at least to some extent and wishes he had died in the incident. To prevent suicide or further self-harm, local police had Simon placed in the local asylum for his own safety. Soon he’ll be let out into the streets to find a new purpose.
Talents and Skills: Simon is decent with common engineering knowledge. His real talent is his spontaneous creativity. He can create brilliant inventions off the top of his head. Sadly his memory loss issues cause him to forget inventions rather quickly if he doesn’t soon finish them.
Research: Simon primarily focuses on generators and power sources. He’s had short lived breakthroughs in travelling methods (air and sea) but hasn’t come up with anything that sustains a long time or even makes its way to public eye. His most notable inventions are in the fields of thermal hydraulics and thermodynamics. He built a generator to power a train that runs off of heated water that can last for decades.
Hobbies: He doodles a lot, talks to himself a lot, and draws up designs. Usually the designs are meaningless but every couple hours he comes up with something, and once in a blue moon it’s brilliant.
Likes: Faces and bodies (he doesn’t really get horny, he’s just an aestheticist) and he loves studying the way people think. He does randomly get caught staring at cleavage from time to time, and he doesn’t know why it catches his eye. He finds the human body to be an intriguing structure and although he doesn’t study it like he does engines, he appreciates it; male and female. He really likes shy people and he likes to see people get excited about things they love.
Dislikes: Heights (not sure if it’s a fear of falling or the temptation to jump, maybe both), arrogant people, seeing other people depressed, and bad smells. He loves the smell of the city and the smell of industrialization, it relieves him of his past.
