The entire caldera containing the Valley is approximately 360 miles long by 296 miles wide, and is located in a wild a remote area of the central continent where few tribes have managed to make peace with the gods and live in a dangerous harmony with the indigenous creatures. The only scientist able to enter the valley speculated it was a very large meteor strike, with it's north-eastern wall mostly debris and large rocks uprooted by the strike. Though the lower point near the center has others speculating that it was a giant volcano that collapsed, leaving just several pieces of high wall remaining. As for the true origin of the valley, the Gods really are the only ones who really know.

A variety of climates are located in this large basin. The highest peak is in the northern region, is about 28, 879 feet, and constantly wears a large band of snow. The average tree line is about 10,000 feet. Before the valley was allowed entrance, explorers would call the three peeks in the distance, the "three thrones of the goddesses", and would use them to navigate by. No other explorations to study the thrones were ever successful, and most explorers have either found themselves in random parts of the forests surrounding the area with no recollection of how they arrived, or some never returned from their quest. Some, had strange tales of beasts that roamed the areas, and usually died of madness shortly after. Depending who was spoken too, almost every person has a tale to tell of the valley, but none are ever really based on fact.

For the valley inhabitants, they live quite oblivious to the outside world. Even the fliers do not venture far outside of the caldera walls. They generally stay within the boundaries, and mainly do not worry about attack except from fellow valley dwellers, as the Kirin are the ones that mainly take care of any outsiders that try to penetrate the walls. Each knows of the god or goddesses, though some choose not to believe that their ancestors descended from them, though even the non-believers tend to recite why the seasons change, because it's common fact among the valley.

Seasonal Mythology

Emetal / Winter
Though the gods and goddesses generally live in harmony, it seems every year Uswin and Emeratarak had to have a fight and Uswin brought the longer night and Emeratarak unfurled her cloak in a rage and smothered the green and warmth of the valley. It was easy to tell when this fight was getting ready to happen as the nights grew longer as his anger grew, and started to overpower the gentle light of Emeratarak. She, in a rage, would loose her cloak and fling it at him, covering the cooler world with a cloak of snow that could be higher then a Kirin in some places, and freezing the large lake so thick that it could be walked upon. Even the Scar could barely fight off her anger, and constantly fought to free itself of her cloak. Occasionally her sisters would join into the fray, with Reski fanning the winds into a rage to carry the snow so swiftly it stung when it hit, and cooled the air so rapidly the air could freeze in your lungs. Zovan may try to bring an end to this fight by calling forth plants, but Emeratarak could always cover them again in a night.

Once Emeratarak has proven to her protector that she is capable of protecting herself, and that she is stronger then he is, the days start to grow longer again, and Emeratarak pulls her cloak back around her and her castle near the top of the peaks, to sit and observe the valley again and offer the inhabitants comfort once more.

Zovin / Spring
This is the season of the goddess of the plants, as she works with Emeratarak to bring food to those of the valley and comfort as a way of apology for being cruel to them during her fight. She makes sure that the first leaves of spring are the best, to help sate the appetite of those that suffered the long cold. she also brings out the flowers for the flutters to drink nector from, and for the others of the valley to enjoy.

Emrin / Summer
The maintaining of the green and bringing the summer storms was given to Emerals care, as she is considered too young to take on the main tasks of thawing the land. She is merely to maintain what was already provided by her mother and aunt by helping them to by watered by the rains, and to maintain the season until it is Reski's turn at the seasons.

Reskan / Fall
Reskan is the time before the fight, when the trees start feeling the n** of the cold of Uswin's anger, and start prepairing themselves for the cold fight ahead. A breeze flows through the forests and valley, a constant warning of what is about to happen if the color of the trees is not enough of one. The trees blaze with the muted colors of fire; one last attempt to warm the cold anger of Uswin before Emeratarak throws her cloak at him.

Emeral:

Considered the "daughter" of Emeratarak and Uswin, it is the 'youngest" of the peaks of the valley, at only 14,000 ft. The mountain is the only eastern mountain, and is part of the largest section of volcano range that still stands. Many of her peaks and sides are straight up, leaving only small craigs for the winged creatures to nest in

For the local Legend, she will inherit the goddess throne, and is a leocorn like her mother. She appears in the form of a young teenager, though she has a few stripes down her tail.

Emeratarak:

The central and therefore the 'oldest' of the "three thrones of the Goddesses" range, the highest peak is in the northern region, is about 28, 879 ft. This peak is never without snow capping it, thought the snow melt does seep down to the Arask river, and the Scar river as well. The peak base and middle layers is known mainly for the crystal caves in which the breeding crystals are found.

For the local legend, Emeratarak is the oldest of the goddesses, a leocorn with long flowing golden hair much like the rays of the sun. She is the life bringer, the one that is prayed too for children or grown, and her rage can steep the valley in winter even in the middle of the summer.

Reski:

The second largest peak of the "three Goddesses". It sits about 25,480 ft and is the northernmost peak in the valley. Under the snow level several of the Aglar caves are located.

For the legend of Reski, she is the second oldest sister, and looks much like the Arasti people who live outside of the entrance of the valley. She is feline looking, much like a large velkir, and colored much like a snow leopard, with large blue and silver butterfly wings. She is the goddess that the Arasti mainly worship, and is the goddess of the winds, bringing gentle breezes or fierce winds that will carry the snow for Emeratarak, or tear trees from the ground like they are torn up. The Aglar hold her in as high of regard as Emeratarak.

Uswin:

The second largest peaks is in the southern region and stands about 27, 476 feet. Uswin is the most jagged of the peaks, and most who try to venture up the peaks who don't have wings can fall to their deaths and be impaled on one of the many large crystal-like spires that sprout from the rocks. The Teter seem to flock around the glittery spires, though they are found elsewhere around the valley as well. Also several of the Tesharak can be found here as well, seeming as though they guard the spires.

The Legend of Uswin is that he is the main of the the two male gods. He is the mate of Emeratarak, and is a great defender of the goddesses, their main protector. He is also the one that brings on the night. It is said that the crystal spires that have emerged from the rocks are shards of his first sword that he forged from the stars of the sky, and broke on the best of the Uusk that first tried to take the life of the sisters. The beast was felled at the feet of the sisters, and created the 'scar' in the land. He appears as a black griffon, with a scar over his left eye from his battle, and black feathered wings.

Vergon:

It is the only range to the west, and the closest mountain to the Arasti village. The mountain sits about 15,012 feet.

Veragon is the other male god, and was said to be the lover of the other goddesses and provides his services when they call. He is smitten with Zovan, but will most likely be paired off with Emeral when she becomes old enough, or her mother steps down from the main throne. He appears as a cheetah-like creature with monarch-gold bat-like wings on his back. He is also said to be a bit more mischievous then the other gods, and that some of those with a darker temperament look more to him as their god.

Zovan:

The smallest and therefore "youngest" of the "three goddesses". This peak stands at 23,014 ft. This peak has the least amount of snow of the three in the "three goddesses" range. The snow melt feeds the Jakavar river, as well as the spring that emerges out from under the peak. It's gentle flowing northern portion also leads directly to the Keskuk forest.

The Legend of Zovan is that she is the is the goddess that brings the flowers to the forest and the greenery to the grass. She is the one that repairs the rage of her sisters. She appears more like a tigress, with striped fathered wings.

Ashivik:

The largest forest in the valley, spanning between the Cammas and Elil rivers. The content of this forest is mainly pine tree, fur, and aspen. In it's depths near the Cammas bend there is one of the special caves with the breeding stones located in it. Near the lower portion where the Elil devides off a portion of the forest, the land is more flat and therefore that section of the forest is more marshy.

Keskuk:

The second largest forest spanning between the "three thrones of the goddesses" range and Vergon. It has someof the highest forests in the valley, and receives more rainfall then the other two forested patches of land. The longest river penetrating this foresk is the Jakavar, though a spring feeding the Mar is deep in the heart of this forest, as well as for the Tursak.

Teradale:

The third and smallest of the three forests, it is located near the entrance of the valley that Tibini discovered, and that Taiki uses. It touches the base of the Uswin mountainsand curls around the lake of Tears, and the Hesevik falls, and ends halfway down the valley. Many different herbs are located more in the Teradale then the other three forests.
