Meeting Mr. Mute
Development ID: Rose attempted to make friends with Yamayake during a mission but but was snubbed. This lead to her running off on solo during an invasion by Thane and Sigma which lead to a bunch of plot stuff happening.

Quote: “Mr. Mute!” She explained upon seeing Yamayake. Of anyone if could have been the person who had completely ignored her during the evacuation had been near the bottom of the list. He hadn’t spoken to her then which had kind of cheesed her off but he was talking to her now so she supposed she could forgive him. “Err, I guess I can’t call you that anymore can I?” she asked rhetorically with a light laugh trying to cover her embarrassment.
“My name is Yamayake." replied the boy with a slight smile. The fact she was finally getting to know him Made Rose so excited that she visibly had to restrain herself from jumping the poor guy. After all she was pretty sure he wouldn’t appreciate the kind of crushing bear hugs she was prone to giving, at least not until they got to know each other a bit better first anyhow.
“Yama…yamayk….yamake.” Rose attempted to mouth the name but it seemed her mouth was utterly failing on the last part making it come out wrong. “Mind if I call ya Yama-san?” she asked politely hoping he wouldn’t be offended by the shorting.

If he didn’t get his mind back in the game then he was probably going to die. As his friend it was her duty to make sure that didn’t happen, besides they needed to get moving and soon, staying in one spot out in the open like this for too long was just begging for trouble they couldn’t afford.

Importance: Rose is the type of person who really wants to prove herself to her fellow kumo-nin and make friends with them. Yama was the only one to snub her and so she took it very hard and tried to do her best to do something epic to force him to acknowledge her.
This resulted in her finding the intruder Sigma and shooting him which led to his capture. This was a pretty major story development for that overall invasion.
As for personality it's had Rose acting more cocky since she was given credit for an A rank mission for her actions. While she's now on speaking terms with Yama she's started treating him like almost like a subordinate she can order around rather then an equal since she feels like she really outdid him during that invasion.

Development ID: Rose hears a debate between Ame and Rain about if Emotions are good or bad for ninja to have. Despite being scared of Ame Rose takes a side in the debate that Emotions are what make a ninja story not getting rid of them.

Quote(s): Gathering the courage to speak she quickly stepped out from behind her newfound Onii-chan and pointed at Ame.
“Kind? You think what they are going to do to him will be nice?” she asked with a laugh. “Killing him would have been a kindness compared to what they’ll do to get intel,,,intelligence from him.” Rose explained stumbling a little over the large word at the end. While she was eloquent for her age, she still had trouble with saying some things. “Some things can be worse than death…” she declared. “…believe me I should know.” She added the last part as little more than a light whisper not even realizing she had spoken it out loud.
Quote:“Oh really?” Ame asked while glaring down at Rose making her flinch slightly. “Killing him would be a kindness? Then why shouldn’t I kill you it is kind I guess…” Ame added her voice dripping with sarcasm. She won’t attack me, she won’t attack me. Rose repeated again and again in her head as she continued to stand her ground even as Ame’s face grew more serious as she continued.
Quote:All traces of merriment vanished from Rose’s face in one of the very rare moments she completely took off her mask of exaggerated exuberance. Looking so serious would seem almost unnatural on her, especially the look in her eyes which gave the impression that she understood things no twelve year old should ever have to.
“Death is better than living with constant crippling pain, or being immobilized, unable to talk or move but fully aware of everything around you. Or gods forbid being inflicted with both at once.” She explained her voice full of steel because she was speaking from firsthand experience something Rain would know from having read her medical records. Rose remembered clearly the days of her sickly youth before Dr. Rejiko’s illegal experiments had cured her.
The constant suffering as she lay in bed unable to move, her mind filled with boredom and loneliness to such a degree that it seemed to be a physical thing inside so thick it felt like it was choking her, trying to squeeze the sanity from her mind and the spirit from her soul. She had seen and felt hope becoming like a foggy ephemeral thing, hard to get grasp and even harder to keep as the years passed and nothing changed.
How many times had she wished someone would just end it and put her out of her misery? Far many more then she could count. Even now years after the fact, after she had made a miraculously recovery she still work up in cold sweet from nightmares that she had never been cured, that her entire life in the village was a fantasy she had engineered in her mind to escape her harsh reality. It was a fate she wouldn’t wish on her worst enemy.
As quick as it had vanished, the cheeriness returned to Rose’s face at a rate that would generally be considered normal rather than the over the top levels that she usually displayed. She was a naturally light and bubbly person most of the time, she was just stretching it a bit to make people think she wasn’t thinking.

Frankly Rose wasn’t sure how the water woman hadn’t frozen solid yet from the ice running through her veins.
Importance: Emotions drive nearly all of Rose's actions. If she had gone along with Ame rather then rejecting her idea to throw her emotions away everything that followed from that point would have happened very differently.
Just for an example Rose probably would have died against Hoshi if she hadn't gotten ticked off at him which pushed her to unleash one of her best jutsu the leaf dragon god which protected her from his attacks and allowed her to finish him off.
Personality wise Rose has always tried to get along with everyone she meets. It's pretty big for a person like that to despises someone the way Rose now hates Ame.
Considering Rose gets along so well with most of the village it's saying something that Ame is the only kumo ninja that strikes fear into her heart from her presence.

Saving Mugen - The New Raikage
Development ID: While looking for surviors from the Akatsuki invasion Rose stumbled upon Mugen's badly battered form and took actions to save him even after she learned he was techically part of the invasion force that destroyed her home. This directly lead to Mugen becoming the new Raikage.

Quote(s): She was about to turn around and head for a hopefully more fruitful direction when she heard what sounding like a warning growl coming from the distance. Glancing towards the source of the noise she gasped as she caught sight of a young man broken and bleeding as he leaned against the inner walls of a still intact portion of the gate out of the fox’s prying eyes.
Rose blinked as if unsure to believe what her eyes where telling her. Was that a group of Cheetah surrounding him? Even from this distance of two hundred feet it even looked like one was trying to munch on him even as he feebly attempted to heal himself with a hand coated in the distinctive green coloured medical chakra.
Learning he's the enemy but helping him anyhow
Quote:"The three of us are the reason for the destruction of this village. I just finished killing a dozen or so genin at the dojo after burning it to the ground. Some others from our group should be taking down the medical center and I imagine that the Raikage building has already fallen or shall fall soon. This attack is all but over now and from this point I am going to claim that Kumogakure is under the control of us....the Akatsuki.
If you object to this, by all means you can try and fight us, but I warn you.....I will kill every single one of you without breaking a sweat and I will not lose any sleep over this. I'd prefer not to do this though, so how about you all get to know each other and simply accept what has already been decided. I on the other hand have other matters to attend to." said the woman before walking off leaving Mugen behind before completing the job which meant he still required help.
Rose wondered if she should still give it to him since technically he was her enemy but then what the woman had said was not to complete story. Even if Mugan was one of their number he had been far too injured to have been responsible for any of the death and destruction that lay in the Akatsuki’s wake so why should he have to pay for his compatriots sins?

“Hold on just a bit longer Mugen-san, I’m going to take you to a shop to for help so you can finish recup..recuperating. It’s away from all those places that she said where attacked so it should be a safe neu..neutral zone.” She explained as she scooped him up into her arms as if he weighted no more than a baby.
“I hope that’s ok with you but even if it’s not I refuse to leave this man here to die” She said directing this towards Hisoka. “If he stays here I can’t gua..guaranty that one of the other kumo nin won’t try and finish him off. The shop keeper Caesar-san is really strong so they won’t try and mess with him well Mugen-san rests.” She clarified as she slowly began walking off in the direction of a small pink shack in the distance.

Boy he sure was fast, she grinned happy that he seemed to be all recovered from his injuries. Rose watched wide eyed as the young man got onto one knee before her looked her directly in the eye and lipped the words thank you before quickly standing up to address the gathered group as a whole.
"So, where are you guys going? Also, Taiho! I could barely tell who you were. Your clothing is so much more . . . suitable for a shinobi. Heheh. Well, I am your Raikage now. I'm only cruising and memorizing the land for future reference. You guys seem to be going somewhere, so close by the gates. What is the situation?" asked their newfound leader.
So this great man was to be their new Raikage? That suited Rose just fine since he had seemed so nice so far from all their interactions together while saving him and even just now when he had bothered to get down to HER level. As far as she knew only a truly kind man would do that.
“Hai Raikage-sama” she said straitening her spine so that she was standing at attention before snapping her hand up in a salute. While Mugen didn’t seem like the kind of guy who really cared about getting too formal showing him the respect he was due would hopefully give the village a much needed moral boast that they so desperately needed.
Importance: We got a new kage which was badly needed since we had next to zero leadership from Suzaku. This has lead to substantial improvement for Kumo overall.

Living your nightmare
Development ID: Rose's nightmare was living through the village being destroyed while people she cared about died. That actually happend as Akatsuki leveled the village and offed her Sensai Rain and her idol Kasuga. Rose has not taken those deaths well

Quote(s): “I won’t hurt you but I still want you to know that emotions are pointless. You know a thing that proves it? Rain is dead. Your lovely doctor is completely dead he is one of these crisps here. And this is not the only thing… You know who else died? Oh if you only knew little girl…” said the woman in a cold but mocking tone that underlined just how hypercritical she was being.
“You’re lying!” Accused Rose as she took half a step away from Ame as if the woman’s words had been a physical blow to her body rather than just a mere mental one. Rain was dead? The very idea was laughable. The Doctor had been strong enough to defeat handily defeat Thane, how could he possibly lose to these Akatsuki? The ones she had met had seemed strong, but not to the point that Rain shouldn’t have been able to run away from them at the very least if he had been outmatched.
“The person you look up to Kasuga is the other one that died. And do you see it now? The people who had emotions died and who is left alive? Me the emotionless woman. Do you see that emotions ruin you girl!?” Ame seemed to say with the faintest hint of cruel laughter in her voice.
Rose could feel what was left of her narrow world already beaten and battered begin to break apart at those words. Kasuga the Ice princess of kumo was her hero, the of epitome everything a kunoichi was supposed to be, everything Rose aspired to be.
Quote:“Liar, Lair pants on fire!” she screeched childishly even as a string of tears began falling down her cheeks though the fact she was crying was hidden by the rain falling all around her. Long moments passed and the Jounin was long gone now and Rose continued to simply sit in place despondent to the rest of the world.
Going into Denial
Quote:Rose felt a pain in her chest and blinked. Why did thinking of Kasuga hurt so much? Wasn’t the ice princess simply resting, recovering her chakra after a long hard battle? Trying to distract herself from thinking on that line of thought she wondered why her heart was thumping so much while Taiho was around.

“Have you seen Kasuga onee-san or Uncle Rain around? I really should report into them what’s happened so far.” She said her voice giving off just a hint of the delusion that was gripping her.
Accepting the truth

Whispered Zancrow softly, refusing to look her directly in the eyes as he confirmed the earth shattering news Ame had given her. Seeing Zancrow’s reaction to the bombshell, him falling to his knees and crying just like she had earlier forced her to face reality since continuing deny it would do neither of them any good.

That had happened way too fast to be natural and her suspicion was confirmed as faces began to pop up from the flames... very formerly faces in the form of the recently deceased Rain and Kasuga.
“Well that’s all sorts of disturbing.” thought the young girl shuddering at the sight. It all seemed so real, she could feel the heat of the flames, smell the smoke emitting from them. Heck she could even hear her friends voices screaming in torment
Afterwards
Even before her feet left the ground Rose realized what she had just attempted to do and shivered internally as a torrent of raw emotions flowed through her. The sight of her recently deceased friend’s faces has been almost enough to send her over the edge into a blind berserker rage and to compensate she had tried to shut her emotions down and become a monster in the process trying to attack the poor boy who’d only been trying to help her simply because it had been the most logical thing to do.
Importance: Losing Rain and Kasuga has had a huge impact on Rose. They where super important to her and she is not a happy camper about them being gone. She's currently in the anger phase of grief and just seeing their faces again was enough for her to lash out at the person closest to her.
With out Rain she had nobody to teach her and help her advance in the art of Taijutsu, With out Kasuga she no longer has a strong female role model to look up to.

Puppy Love
Development ID: Rose meets the price of Kumo country unknowingly develops a crush on him.

Quote(s):Deciding now wasn’t the time for false modesty Rose simply shrugged then kicked off her boots and pulling off her socks and stalking followed by unclipping her belt and gently placing it on the floor besides the pile of clothing that was beginning to build. She didn’t seem to even care that their where two older man in the room as she tugged down her skirt and tossed it onto the pile before finally she removed her blood soaked blouse leaving her standing in just her light blue knickers and matching bra just as the prince walked back into the room.
“Oji-sama!” Rose exclaimed her face instantly flushing a deep shade of purple at being caught in such an unseemly state. It was one thing for a stranger and a casual acquaintance to see her nearly naked, and another thing entirely for it to be the prince, especially since Taiho was only a tiny bit older than her. Rose wasn’t the kind of girl who was going to wait around for a white prince on a horse to sweep her off her feet, but she absolutely respected him and wanted to be at her best while he was around.

She already had a deep seated need to be acknowledged by her fellow gennin as useful but this being someone so important was sending that need into overdrive. Just like with Kasuga she wanted desperately to please Taiho and for him to see her as something special.

Rose was feeling very conflicted about this sudden crazy idea. Part of her wanted to act out her fantasy and part of her didn’t want it to be a fantasy at all, to not to fake feelings that should be real. Before she could make up her mind she felt him turn her around gently and the next thing she knew Taiho had embraced her in a hug and the world went blank around her as she practically felt steam coming out of her ears as her blush turned two shades darker than before.
Lord knew she had made many others the victim of her infamous dynamic glomp attack, but now the poor girl was on the verge of fainting. Was this how other people felt when she suddenly came out of nowhere and hugged them? Pure bliss all nice and fuzzy and warm ending all too soon and the prince broke the embrace before wandering off to talk with some other ninja.

This was the point where in the action manga she would read someone would slap the delirious person and punch them to bring them back to reality but hitting him when he was in such a state seemed so terribly wrong that it couldn’t possibly be the right thing to do.
So if she couldn’t hit him that meant the only course of action she had left was to follow the example of the more shojo side of things which also felt kind of inappropriate considering that they were only pretending to be going out and not actually dating. But considering how erratic he was acting it would probably be more reckless of her to do nothing at all.
“It’s ok now, nobody is going to hurt anyone anymore today.” Rose said with a fierce blush on her face as attempted to embrace Taiho with a hug in hopes that bodily contact would snap him out of it just like it would in all of those manga she had read when a girl hugged a boy in distress.
Quote:“Besides, you gotta be cool in front of your lady. You will need to be strong for your nation.” said Geno his words causing Rose’s heart to skip a beat. They must have been doing a very good job acting like a couple for him to say that, only the problem was she wasn’t so sure she was really acting anymore.
Quote: “LEAVE MY BOYFRIEND ALONE!” She shouted at the large man as she held the still smoking pistol quickly adjusting the aim so it was pointing at Geno’s head directly now. She could probably pull the trigger again far faster than he could slash or stab so if he tried to finish Taiho off now she would not hesitate to shoot again.

She sighed inwardly, what a foolish foolish little girl she was going and developing feelings for someone so far out of her league it wasn’t even funny. Life was funny like that why did it have to be the prince of all people? He could have any girl he wanted so why would he bother with someone like her who had no status and almost no money. Heck she was probably only average looks wise to boot.

Except well she didn’t really have a clue about this sort of thing, the only advise her mom had really given her on the subject was to be herself and their weren’t a lot of other kunoichi around to ask about this sort of thing. I mean the only other woman in the room was dressed like a bloody clown which didn’t exactly add an air of credibility to her.
The prince loosened his grip on her and she looked up eyes wide and unsure of what happened next. Sure she’d read a lot of manga but it was all fairly tame stuff and by most standards where the most that happened was a guy and a girl hugging or holding hands. Taiho simply kept gazing over her rather than looking her in the eyes though making it even harder for her to understand the context of the situation.
When he pulled away even further she felt a vague sense of disappointment but couldn’t quite pinpoint why. She was almost positive something was supposed to come after the hug, but didn’t quite know what that missing something was supposed to be since she didn’t really know anything about kissing other then it was considered scandalous for some reason.
Importance: Over a long period of time Rose started developing feelings for the prince but because she'd never been in love before she didn't recognize the signs right away.
They started pretending to be a couple during the exams and after they finish the mazes she finds Taiho in distress and in the process of helping him realizes that she has feelings for him which is a major turning point for my character since sh'e's not actually faking her reactions anymore.
They aren't officially going out yet so this has changed her major focus from just doing missions to get by to trying to win Taiho's heart and make the pretend relationship real.

Excellent work." said the young man before he quickly ducked into a nearby house leaving Rose standing there with a look of utter stupefaction on her face.
To her it had seemed that the citizens had barely been paying attention to her, but if the older gennin had said she’d done excellent work so she had to have done something right hadn’t she? Taking the words like they were gospel Rose allowed herself a brief couple of seconds to bask in the praise before she physically shook like a wet dog flinging off water. The time for glory would come later, right now she had a job to do.

Hadn’t he been with her to see much of what had happened? Tilting her head slightly to the side Rose gazed up at the taller gennin her eyes full of concern. After everything he had done for her he had earned an automatic upgrade of relationship status from new friend to surrogate big brother.
“Are you alright Onii-chan?” she asked

“Neh, Neh Onii-chan” called Rose as she tugged lightly on Zancrow’s sleave to get his attention. “Can I have some of the loot too?” she asked innocently.
"You've done excellent today Rose-chan. I expect nonetheless from fellow Kumo shinobi. Rain, is that the intruder we made a fuss over? And Kasuga, am I happy to see you again." Said Zancrow as he handed her the item she had been gazing at and messed with her hair playfully causing her to giggle even as she began to process the wealth of information he had just given her.

Until now their relationship as it where had been fairly one sided. He’d been a little nice to her and shown her respect during troubled times and because of that she’d started to look up to him to the point that after he’d helped her with capturing Sigma she’d started looking up to him as a sort of brother figure, even going so far as to call him Onii-chan.
Until now he’d mostly been humoring her with playful pats on the head. He’d been distant ever since the invasion, not even hugging him back when she’d glomped him during the exams after his identity had accidently been revealed to her.
So the fact that he was going so far as to call her his sister meant the world to her, especially when he had been the only person she had let on her secret about how what had happened at the exam was merely an act that she wanted to become real.
Her entire face beamed with pure joy as he waved his hands around her head producing a tiara made of ice that sat just above her eyes and below the tiny crown that was sitting on her forehead. It must have been made of some very special ice since it didn’t feel cold to the touch at all and yet wasn’t melting from her body heat either which meant he must have put quite a lot of chakra into making it.
"Happy birthday my little shining star." He said while pinching her cheek playfully causing her to squeal in delight and wrap her arms around him in a gentle hug. Yes technically it wasn’t her actual birthday quite yet but the fact he’d remembered just how special this day was to her and was going out of his way to help make it even more special was just simply amazing!
“Zan-chan you’re the best big brother ever!” she declared jubilantly as she used her superhuman strength to pick him up and twirled around together with him for a few seconds while giggling playfully only to stop and gently put him down again once she spotted Taiho standing nearby.
Importance: Rose now has someone she fully considered to be a sibling who also considers he a sibling back. Zan being her brother offers a stabling presence in her life for her keeping her from going off the deep end. Him living through the invasion was literally the only thing that kept Rose from going rouge at one point.
He's also one of the few people Rose trusts now to go to for advice and the only person she'd told at the moment who knows a few important things about her like her upcoming birthday or the fact that Rose and Taiho where only pretending to date during the exam and is actively trying to help get them together for real.
