Okay, so for a while now I've had the world that I've been trying to piece together bit by bit. I thought perhaps one day it might attract interest as a roleplay world for others to join in to, or even be converted to a B/C shop if I ever got good enough to do art.

Either way, it's still all pretty scattered in my head and not yet complete. I'm working on the various species and races found in my unnamed realm, the powers they'd have, specific differences and limits attributed to them, etc. I figure as I work all that out a history will kind of unfold in my head. Mostly what I've got is a bunch of scribbled ideas in a notebook that aren't considered official to the world I'm making. Nothing here is officially official either, but it's the more organized, beta version ready to be seen by others.

Species
Roleplay (PRP)
Concepts already in place
Werewolves and werecats. Shapeshifters.

Concepts that need further definition
Mind control. Pheromones.
Pheromone beings can be of either gender. Power is genetic, like with sorcerers. Humans only. These beings have higher pheromone output capacities and can control their powers. They can use their pheromones to subtly influence human behavior. This power is easily countered if you have strong self-control, especially if you know beforehand you're dealing with a pheromone being.
Mind control is a bit like a mind meld. Separate species, humanoid in appearance but maybe with a slighter larger cranium. Can read surface thoughts without detection, but if that's not a concern for them they can insinuate themselves in another's mind and see/feel everything the subject has ever experienced. The species can breed with others. Mixed offspring can inherit mind powers. Half-bloods can have same abilities as full-blood, but slightly weaker. Quarter-blood can't stay in another's mind for long without risk to their own sanity, and can be forced out by someone with strong mental facilities. Anything weaker than quarter-blood can only hear surface thoughts. The further down the generations go, the harder it is for the descendant to hear thoughts. Abilities are bred out of the line when descendants have less than 1 part of mind control blood to 512 parts of the rest. Certain about of humanity needed to work the mind control, i.e. if a mind control or one with mind control blood is turned into a were, their powers do not function during times of change. A shapeshifter with mind control lineage can use their powers in animal form as they still retain their human minds, but the quality of the power suffers.

Q&A

- What are Witches?
Witches are humans with the ability to tap into elemental magic.

- How do I become a Witch?
To become a Witch you must be chosen by a Familiar. You cannot be born a Witch; you could come from a long line of Witches and not be one. Similarly, you could come from a long line of entirely ordinary, magic-less people and find yourself chosen by a Familiar.

- What sorts of powers do Witches have?
The power of Witches is expressed through potions, charms, and other crafted items. They must use elemental mediums, such as stones, crystals, plants, oils, wood, etc., in order to use their magic. The strength of a Witch-made item depends on the experience, creativity, and elemental affinity of the Witch in question.

- Couldn't I just learn how to be a Witch?
No. Granted you could learn many useful applications for herbs and crystals, but none of it would be truly magical. Witches get their powers from their Familiars, who act as living conduits for elemental magic; without a Familiar you can copy the exact ingredients and processes a Witch uses and still end up with squat.

- How do I discover my elemental affinity?

Elemental Affinity
Just because you have an affinity for a certain element doesn't mean you can't use any of the other elements. You'll just be naturally stronger at certain things than others.

- Water Witch: Common. Specializes in potions.

- Fire Witch: Uncommon.

- Air Witch: Uncommon. Specializes in flight magics.

- Metal Witch: Rare.
