The "Server Crisis"
Before the guild got a semi-restart, a major plot event went down. The old threads are mostly hidden now, but there are mentions of it in the BBS and such, so I figured I better toss up a summary.
No one knows exactly how, but Kitsune contracted a virus. The virus caused her character to become even more unreasonable than normal and she began doing things like assigning level 10 players level 19 non-negotiable quests. Eventually the situation escalated to the point where she started PKing players and said players noticed strange things going on with their gaming equipment afterwards.
Because Kitsune and Nocturne had had a sort of falling out shortly before Kitsune got infected, she decided to "clean up" his server and went on a PK rampage. Despite the moderator on scene telling both of them she'd been given permission to freeze their characters if they didn't stand down, Nocturne ended up PKing Kitsune in the end. Kitsune's player was then ripped away from her gaming equipment, and Nocturne's was summoned to Lab Tech's higher-ups.
However, the situation was far from settled.
It turned out the same virus that had infected Kitsune was spread through PKing and it began to take over the Nocturne Server. Those who fell victim to it not only became more vicious as Kitsune had, but were also suddenly able to draw their weapons in safe zones and pick off players at their most defenseless.
The City of Twilight became a war zone and things got so chaotic that the moderator filling in, Rhapsody, called in two other servers and recruited the help of the few unaffected players within the city. Even with Dante and Divinus on the scene, though, the situation was too large to handle.
This was when Saya chose to step in. Everything on the Nocturne Server simply stopped. The infected stopped mid-attack, or mid-death. Spells that had been cast flickered and their graphics froze. All those that were logged in to Nocturne were booted out of the server and The Game itself. Lab Tech officials did a sweep once everything settled and found no traces of the virus.
Players that had been caught in the mess seemed fine once they were able to log in again, but Saya was the only one able to truly destroy the virus. All the players that had been killed before she took action still had it hidden within their coding and she hunted them down in order to make sure it didn't flare up again.
Lab Tech has moved on, choosing instead to distract Larmadia's adventurers with improvements like faster loading times and new downloadable content with amazing rewards. Though they did give the players that were still around after the incident newly released rare weapons for all the trouble.
While the incident still weighs on the minds of those that witnessed it, people have long since stopped asking questions and it's almost as if it never happened in the first place.
