General
1 ) Please visit the Character Creation subforum and familiarize yourself on the rules and guidelines of acceptable characters before posting in the RP forum. Note that the stats are used only as guidelines for the relative strengths and weaknesses of your characters, and we will not be rolling dice.
2 ) If you have a problem with another player for any reason, talk it out civilly with them or leave. This should go without saying.
3 ) At least attempt to use proper grammar and spelling. L33tspeak, netspeak, broken English, and such will not be tolerated. Keep emoticons to a minimum. No more than 2 nested quotes.
4 ) There is a difference between n00bs and newbs. Newbs are welcome. N00bs are not.
5 ) Any and all out-of-character conversation is to be conducted within the confines of Dreaming of Butterflies. In addition, out-of-character knowledge is not to be used in-character unless your character has a valid reason to know it - if in doubt, consult the GM and/or other players.
6 ) No posting pictures not in your signature, unless with special permission.
7 ) No bumping.
8 ) No advertising.
9 ) No begging.
10 ) Absolutely no cybering. Sexual situations of any orientation may be implied, but please keep explicit sexual content out of the guild. That's what PMs, AIM, and email are for.
11 ) Continually disrespectful behaviour will be dealt with by summarily booting the offending person or persons from the Guild.
Fighting
1 ) Fighting is allowed, as long as it is appropriate to the scene. Make sure all parties involved work out how the fight will go in PM or AIM. Starting fights for no reason or refusing to cooperate with other players is a good way to get your character killed and yourself banned.
2 ) If you decide the occasional autohit is acceptable, you are acknowledging that others have the right to autohit you.
3 ) If you do something, which would obviously result in your death - attempting to shoot your way through an entire SWAT team, for example - you will die. Note that supernatural characters have considerably more leeway when it comes to purely mortal opponents, but please, don't mow down hordes of cannon-fodder mooks. Give even extras the respect they deserve.
4) As in the real world, killing someone has consequences. It's a good way to get their friends coming for you, especially problematic when the victim was a cop or a member of the Irish mob. Even if they weren't, a dead body or missing person tends to attract police attention, as do gunshots, screaming, and other disturbances associated with a violent death. Such consequences can make for interesting storytelling if that's what you have in mind, but don't expect to skirt past them.
Roleplaying
1 ) Literate Roleplayers allowed only. No God Moding, no Mary Sue/Gary Stu, that sort of thing. Consult the guides for literate roleplaying for more advice if need be. Keep your characters' skills and limitations in mind when engaged in somewhat complicated tasks.
2 ) If agreed upon by the players involved, characters are free to form any sort of relationship they wish, including having children. Again however, as in the real world, there will be consequences. Additionally, most supernatural characters are sterile, and may not reproduce without an extremely good explanation.
3 ) Some threads may have resident NPCs, like bartenders, strippers or similar characters who are always around. The more notable of these NPCs will be listed in the location's description, and in more detail in the NPC Database thread. Feel free to play them to do their jobs or hold a conversation. Stats will not be given for these characters, as they are intended to fill minor roles. Be aware, however, that depending on the course of the roleplay, even glorified extras such as these can become important characters. Also, feel free to introduce any minor NPCs of your own to fill a certain role (courier, bar fly, guard, etc.)
4 ) Show some respect for fellow players, their characters and their storylines. Don't make radical changes that will impact others' characters without properly consulting them first. In the event of massive storylines that effect all or multiple characters, there must be consultation and consensus with all involved. Communication and cooperation is key here, folks. Use PMs, AIM, email, or whatever other means are necessary.
5 ) You have a responsibility to roleplay responsibly. You will take injuries; that's a part of life. A Changeling with a higher Wyrd rating will be able to channel Glamour more often and more easily than a lower-Wyrd Changeling. Supernatural characters will be more powerful than mortal ones, but mortals will frequently have numbers on their side.
6 ) Feel free to create new threads for new locations within reason. If you anticipate using a location for only one scene, it's probably not necessary to create a whole new thread, unless its an extended scene or a raid sequence.
7 ) If you do not make an effort to have your characters meet, interact, and care one way or another about other characters, you have no right to complain about not being involved in any storylines, or people not giving a crap about your characters and storylines. Do not expect others to make this effort for you.
8 ) The GM has final say in all matters. No exceptions. If there's a problem and the GM is unavailable, contact the GM. If you have a question, contact the GM.
9) Most of you are probably familiar with the first generation or "Old World of Darkness", along with its gamelines like "Vampire: The Masquerade", "Werewolf: The Apocalypse", and "Changeling: The Dreaming." We will not be using them here. This guild is based on the 2nd Gen World of Darkness line, which focuses on a darker, more horrific world. The guild itself will focus on White Wolf's Changeling: The Lost, which has a wikia located here.
Golden Rule - HAVE FUN.
Don't take things too seriously. This should go without saying, but repeated killjoys will not be tolerated. If it stops being fun, take a break. If you wish to leave the guild, do so in a calm and respectful manner.
Those who refuse these simple codes of decency will be ejected.
