Sethrian froze when he heard the familiar grating voice call his name. Ugh. Her again. He turned, expecting to see the normal Lyra smirking up at him. Instead, he saw a puffy marshmallow (or maybe a steamed dumpling) with legs. Her face was partially concealed by her scarf, but he noted the red nose and cheeks chilled by the cold. She looked...she looked completely adorable. Which was strange considering he'd never really associated her with adorableness. Ugh. Lifting an eyebrow, Sethrian looked disdainfully into her basket of items. "Lyra," he said flatly. " I see your taste in snacks is as...gourmet as ever." His eyes roved over her figure again and he smirked. "Not to mention your fashion sense. Nice ear muffs or are those hamsters you've conveniently tied to your head to keep your ears warm?"
Ear muffs actually sounded like heavy right about now, but they looked so ridiculous, he couldn't bring himself to actually wear them.

Lyra's day had gotten a lot better in the last few seconds. At first it had seemed like a bad idea to wander out in the cold for a few things, but now she was going to be able to have some fun while she was here. Perfect. Just perfect. When he turned around, she had to use all of her strength to not burst into laughter. What were those silly little glasses? She tried to ignore his choice of accessory and rolled her eyes as he belittled her choice of food options. Well, it wasn't like that was all that she ever ate. These were just things to hoard in her room, but she would never defend it in front of the likes of him. She didn't need to waste her breath. She took a second to look into his basket. They were in a grocery war now. Surely he had something weird too. Damn, he was just boring and seemed to be cooking a real meal or something. That was no fun. She'd have to work with it.
Her fashion sense? Her fashion sense?! How could he comment on her fashion sense with those glasses on? How old was he, eighty? She tugged at her scarf to make sure she was better able to talk. It would be super annoying if she was muffled the whole time. She surely wouldn't be taken seriously if she were muffled. "You're kidding, right? I mean my fashion sense has nothing on yours, but I still think I look pretty nice. Though I do need you to write down where you got those lovely glasses of yours." She smirked before looking down at his basket again. "Are you having another lovely meal alone, Seth?" She pulled her own basket closer, feeling slightly insecure. She shouldn't even feel like it mattered, yet she was kind of embarrassed that all she had was junk food. Junk food that she would be eating alone, too. They were both pretty pathetic, but she wouldn't be the first to admit that.

Sethrian's face remained impassive as he raised an eyebrow at Lyra's jab at his glasses. He felt his ears go a little hot with embarrassment though. He liked them, anyway. And he only used them when reading. Oh! Right. "I only wear them when I'm reading," he scoffed, remembering that he actually needed to take them off anyway. "It's not as if I'm walking around in a jacket that makes me look like I should be slow roasted over a fire and pressed between chocolate and graham crackers." He pocketed the glasses anyway and gave her a scathing look. "Yes," he said flatly. Pfft. She was just jealous he was going to cook real food when she was stuck with cheap cocoa and popcorn. "Even if I'm alone, I don't see the need to assuage my obvious grief with junk food," he added, his voice dripping with sarcasm, which turned into a smug half-smile. "Or is that just a coy way of saying you want to keep me company?"She would probably shoot that down right away, but it would be fun to watch her try to pretend it didn't come across that way.

Lyra pulled her earmuffs off and folded them up before placing them in her pocket. Not because she felt insecure about them or anything. It was definitely just because her ears were getting really warm inside of there. She placed her hand on her hip and trailed her eyes over to the items. She didn't want Seth to dare think she cared about what he had to say. She rolled her eyes at the comment about her jacket. "Well, at least I'm warm." She said, mostly to herself. That was really rude of him. She actually was quite fond of this jacket. Now she'd have to go out and find a new one. Once it was warmer and once enough time had passed for him to not think she was doing it because of him. Because she totally wasn't. She needed a new jacket.
She brought her gaze back to him at the mention of her junk food again. "It's not like this is all I ever eat. C'mon, you know what I'm hiding under this jacket." She motioned at herself with a laugh. "I think maybe those glasses got to your head. You're not a grandpa sent to make sure I eat my veggies." She laughed and turned her head casually to look at the other side of the aisle. She thought for a second that maybe her ear muffs were making his words sound different, when she realized she wasn't wearing them anymore. Had Seth just kind of asked her over to his house? Well, he was implying that that's what she wanted, but that was such a stretch from what she had said. She always liked to toy with his single-ness. Any hoe that entered the bakery was a potential mate for him. The uglier they are, the more likely she was to comment on the looks Seth was receiving. That was just the sort of thing she liked to poke at. She so did not want to come try what looked like it would be a delicious meal. No way. She realized a little too late that her gaze had widened, thankfully she wasn't looking at him with her deer-in-the-headlights face. "I did not know they sold this here." She attempted to play off coolly before grabbing a bag of noodles and tossing them into her basket. "Oh, right. You were saying something. You said you wanted me to keep you company, right? Hmm, I don't know. I had some pretty big plans for tonight." She turned to look at the clock. Yeah, that should work. Turn this all on him. Now to wait and see how he likes that.

Sethrian raised an eyebrow. "What? Were those earmuffs too tight? I believe I said..." he trailed off. Wait. Wait. This was his opportunity to cook real food for another person besides himself. Not that he hated working at the bakery--he actually quite liked making desserts and pastries but he hadn't made a real dinner for someone in such a long time. Valentine's didn't count since that was a cold picnic lunch and not an actual dinner. It wasn't that he wanted to spend time with Lyra particularly (not that he really minded that either. Too much). But cooking for a person, a real person, was so enticing. He loved cooking regardless, but it was always so much more satisfying when there was someone around to enjoy the food and appreciate the effort. And since he usually ate alone, it was somewhat of a waste. But now he had the chance for someone to actually eat a meal he cooked... So instead, he shrugged, continuing to the produce section. "I can see you have big plans with your popcorn and noodles. If I were you, I wouldn't let a chance at an actual gourmet meal cooked by a real chef put a damper on those plans. After all, it would be a shame to have to eat delicious food perfectly paired with expensive wine, instead of junk."

Lyra turned her gaze back to Seth. She needed to see his face when he tried to fix this thing. She then found herself quickly rolling her eyes away from him at another stab at her earmuffs. They were cute! He just didn't understand high fashion. Clearly she had some work to do on him. It was shocking how fun the thought of going on a shopping spree with Sethrian was. She could just see the scowl on his face now as she dragged him through all of the stores and made him try on ridiculous things. Too bad that was incredibly personal. How would she ever be able to arrange something like that? He'd really think that she was hitting on him then. It seemed to take him a rather long amount of time to figure out exactly what he wanted to say. This was just too fun. She couldn't wait to see him squirm under the pressure! There was no way that he could make practically asking her out on a date sound like a normal thing.
...Well ********. Lyra was incredibly let down by the response he offered. He made it sound like this meal would be a privilege for her. How dare he! Even though it did sound a lot better than what she had planned on doing. Which was really nothing. She'd probably just curl up on the couch and watch some sort of horror film or something and then stay awake all night listening for every little sound. She flipped her hair and skimmed her eyes over a few more items she had no intentions on buying before she begrudgingly followed after him. Why did he have to start walking away? This made her feel all the more like the stupid fish following after the obvious bait. "I'll tell you what. I'll run home and drop off my wonderful junk food and let my prior engagements down easy. I'm sure they'll understand that a poor grumpy soul could benefit from my presence more than they ever could. I'll meet you at your place in about 45." Sure, she should probably have waited to see if that was fine by him, but it wasn't like she was going to change her mind anyway. So, she placed her earmuffs back on, placed her head up high, and moved past him in a huff.
Somehow she had felt like she won. But as she finished paying for her groceries and started her walk home, it began to feel a whole lot like she had lost.

Sethrian was left standing in the store, wondering what the heck had just happened. He had a date. With Lyra. Sort of. Though he didn't think Xeiro would approve of that at all so he was not going to call it a date (at least not out loud). It was merely him feeding someone who needed good food. That was it. He almost questioned how Lyra knew where he lived but he assumed it had to do with his work records, which she'd probably have access too. He watched her go and, after a moment, went to get the rest of the things on his list. He backtracked and picked up a few more things for a dessert. Checking over the contents of his basket, as he headed to the cashier, Sethrian realized he was kind of nervous actually. Lyra was...well. She was Lyra. She was snarky and smart and beautiful. Damn. He was going to have to be very careful not to slip up and let her know that he was...well...that she was...well. Ugh. He was just going to have to have to be careful so she didn't come away with the wrong idea about him. And so that he didn't have a disadvantage. He quickly paid for his things and hurried to his apartment so he could get there first and get the meal started before she arrived. [exit]

Nevaeh slowly made her way down the aisles looking a little nervous as she bit her lip. She was in a store. With people. She'd be fine. But there were still people. She was out of her house... Ugh what was she doing?! Brushing her bangs out of her eyes she picked up the closest thing to her to keep herself distracted. It happened to be a bottle of juice, which would have been fine if it wasn't orange juice. No, if she was going to buy juice it would have to be apple or one of those weird mixed ones like strawberry banana orange or orange banana mango. Why not just call them a ton of fruit juice? That way it wouldn't just list fruits.
Reaching over to put the orange juice away she decided to look through all of them. Picking up another bottle she gave it a little shake before turning it over to read the contents. Hmmm... no she wouldn't go with this one. Maybe... putting it back the girl grabbed a bottle of plain apple juice. It was usually her favorite. Deciding to put this one back as well she let out a little sigh. Why was she wasting her time here? She'd much rather be snuggled up in her blanket with a cup of tea and a book than here. But this store did have the milk she would want for her tea some where in here. It was a little disappointing to open up the fridge and find out she had to make yet another trip to the outside world just so she would be happy with a beverage. Sighing again she tried to grab another bottle of juice to look at before trying to convince herself she could make it all the way to the milk with out feeling extremely uncomfortable.
