Personality: Bane is a quiet, non-talkative person both by personality and design. After all, he actually has a zipper that zips his mouth shut, rendering him unable to open it. However, he can unzip it at will, and only plays around that it is tough for him to open. When he does open his mouth though, one will notice that he talks peculiarly English, that is to say, with an English accent.
Although he wears somewhat intimidating and mismatched clothing he is kind, especially towards children, but also submissive and willing to take a beating. It often makes people feel bad for him, as his nature leads him to be the receiving end of lots of abuse. Consequently, he may find himself hugged by people, namely the children of the Rukongai, who see him as a life sized teddy bear. He is extremely distrustful of anyone in or associated with Division Twelve for reasons he keeps to himself.

Biography: Bana Akashi started his life fully grown and ready for what ever life would throw at him. He was created by and for Division Twelve as more or less cannon fodder. Something to be at the front lines or used for labor, he was to be used and discarded like outgrown clothing, a perfectly "free" soldier. His being was developed around nothing more than something akin to a pack mule. However, their experiment had been, mildly off. Rather than a perfect specimen, they got Bana. He was somewhat childish and clearly imperfect, as he required actual exercise and training to perform the Division's increasingly difficult tasks. They scrapped the project and nicknamed him "Bane", because he was a damaged project. But, since they could use him, they kept him rather than discarding their failure. This did not stop their physical abuse, and they couldn't effectively be stopped by any form of law either, as the man was neither a citizen nor Shinigami. Bane was simply an object. As his personality was, Bane did not speak up, he did not rebel. He merely accepted any and all abuse, some of which included several body modifications such as the zipper that is permanently a part of his mouth. By the man who instituted it onto Bane's body, he comically remarked it as a way to "Zip his lips", which was in poor taste to the abused boy.
He was not without a savior though. One day, by chance, he was "freed" from Division Twelve by a fellow Shinigami and put into something called the Academy. He learned that this is where Shinigami were trained and put into a Division, after receiving a weapon. He was told, should he pass, he would be a Shinigami. Bane knew well enough that that meant that his treatment would be better than what he had received at Division Twelve, although the difference may not be substantial. To Bane, it was something. This was the only time in his life that he was thankful of his time in Division Twelve, utilizing many tricks and tactics that the new recruits found wild or inconceivable, rarely ever having to draw his weapon, instead he utilized rocks, dust, eggs, leaves, twigs, limbs, even his wild outfit in varying ways upon aggressors. Bane's own image was also one that gave him the advantage of intimidation, but consequently left him alone for his entire Academy career. Due to his wild style, it became quite noticeable that he excelled greatly at Hakuda, but his Zanjutsu was more than fair. When he did pass, the immediate thought was to put Bane into Division Twelve for his ingenuity and surprising intelligence. Coupled with his strength, if he continued like he had now, he would become a force to be reckoned with. This did more than worry Bane. He went into full on distress, begging, pleading, anything, not to go into Division Twelve. Shocked, they asked why, prompting to take off his clothing, revealing an unsettling amount of scars. Before he was restrained, he nearly had stripped all of his clothing off. Still, the amount of scars, that Bane "claimed" were from Division Twelve was outright disturbing. He actually had more scar tissue than normal tissue, causing random discolorations along his skin, usually in long scratch marks covering most of his body that would be kept from the eyes of the public beneath his clothing. Although his evidence alone did not sway the minds of those who controlled his fate, they did agree that such a trauma as that one would not be worth putting him into the Twelfth Division and instead assigned him to Division Eight. Pleased, he apologized himself and put his clothing back on, embarrassed by his outburst more than he had been of stripping down.
Once in the Eighth Division, Bane was the same as any soldier, except his knowledge was far more advanced than most people his rank. Noticing this, he was quickly sent upwards through the ranks until his knowledge flat lined and became the norm of his rank. This turned out to be the Third Seat position, earning him the hatred of those who aspired for that spot for years, only to have a newbie run in and sweep up the ladder in a matter of months. While many of his comrades were amiable, those who were not were more persistent. This drove Bane back to his quiet, submissive streak, and cost him available promotions several times. In the subdued Bane's mind, this was seen as natural though. The regression had a nearly permanent effect on him, and although it caused no problems in his work, it did reduce his field time substantially. It was to his luck that, on a wild whim, he was promoted to Lieutenant because at the time, no one was qualified other than himself.
Zanpakuto's Name: Nuiawaseru [Stitcher]
Sealed Description: While sealed, Nuiawaseru is a 30 cm long needle, the lower 10 cm of it having a bandage wrapped around it to be used as a grip. It is more like an over sized sewing needle rather than a sword or dagger, and has no cutting edge, explicitly used for piercing attacks only.
Zanpakuto Spirit: Zanpakuto Spirit
Inner World: Inner World
Shikai Status: Yes
Release Command: Fix the holes in me, Nuiawaseru
Shikai Released Appearance: Upon release, Nuiawaseru grows greatly, going from 30 cm to 120 cm, and widening out. It also gains an eyelet at the base, much like the eye of a needle. The weapon still lacks any form of guard, proper hilt, or cutting edge, relying solely on piercing power and having a bandage for a substitute grip. Unsurprisingly, it is wielded like a rapier would be in normal combat, but Bana usually does not fight "normally" enough.
Shikai Abilities:
Nui: Focusing his reishi into a thin string thick enough to reflect any light in the area, making the string shimmer as it passes through the air. With the swipe of a hand, the thread lashes out at the foe aiming to tie up their limbs. Strangely enough, this attack seems to seek clothing, the thread, usually after wrapping itself around an arm or leg, will try and tie itself to other articles of clothing on the foe it's attacking, hindering their movement further.
Sasu: The user generates several dozen small needles out his reishi. with the wave of his hand, they fire, one dozen at a time, in three waves at the foe. Utilizing both split second firing and shotgun spread, the attack is generally annoying to dodge, using both numbers and time to correct their aim for the next wave to get relatively accurate results.
Osu: An extremely versatile attack, Usually with a flourish, Bane will create a net or some other obstacle out of the spiritual thread to be flung at the opponent to slow them down or otherwise hinder their movements. However, the strength of this move is its versatility and creating nets is not the limit to its power. Bane can also utilize this attack to seal open holes in the ground, sending the thread through the earth and pulling to stitch it shut. Although this doesn't eliminate the air or pocket inside, it does create a nice seamless finish on top, as if the hole were never there. This can also apply to tears in his or someone else's clothing, or even clouds if he really felt like it.
Kaimei Suru: This technique is the total counter to Osu. Rather than seal something shut, this technique can "unravel" the spiritual strings that hold things together. Although this utterly fails on animals, souls, and people, it works favorably on trees, grass, ground, and even spiritually based attacks. This makes him a near perfect counter to people who prefer fighting at a range, especially Quincies, but only if he's quick enough on the draw. Additionally, and unlike Osu Which can only seal the upper portion of a tear or hole, this technique can undo several layers at once, allowing him to create massive pits, or hell, lower the sea level.
Bankai Status: Achieved
Release Command: Play with me forever, Chakuyo Asobi
Bankai Description: Where there once was a long needle, Chakuyo Asobi does away with a full on weapon, instead having wire like thread come down from Bana's fingertips. This affects both hands, giving him ten, whip like weapons extending out a meter away from his body that he can swing wildly. Additionally, the whites of Bana's eyes turn onyx black, his irises and pupils turning a crimson-esque color
Bankai Abilities:
Gekijo: Bringing up his hands, Bana creates two doppelgangers out of nearby material and coats them in his reiryoku, turning their bodies pitch black and their eyes glow crimson as they come about, rushing the foe at high speeds for melee range combat. Rather than explode or actually fight, the clones bodies unravel and try to bog the opponent down or tie them in spiritual thread that makes up their bodies. This makes staying in combat range of them dangerous as they will continue to assail until defeated. Like zombies however, you can blow their legs off to slow them down and destroying the head shuts them down. while you can reduce their range in part by taking off their arms, this will not slow them down. After two of the user's posts, the doppelgangers will fall over into piles of thread.
Haritsumeru: Bana flourishes his hands and then fires a ball of compacted energy at his foe followed by either rushing at them, leaping into the air, or putting his hands on the ground or any combination of the above. When nearing the foe, or if they meet it head on, the sphere explodes, looking to snare the target or targets in a two meter wide net of spiritual thread. As it erupts, Bana will tug his hands away from the opponent, or at the very least, away from the recently opened net to make it close quickly, much like one would do when using a cast net, and hamper the movement of his opponent greatly.
Saiho: With another, wild flourish of his hands Bana stitches together another life sized doll of thread. This time, however, it is not of himself but one of his foe, even down to the fact it's holding a weapon to wield in the shape of whatever his foe's weapon might actually have. Like it's predecessor, it rushes in, only able to fight in strictly melee circumstances, but unlike the other dolls made by Bana, this one makes up for quantity with quality, being double stitched to require a few more blows to take it down. Still, destroying the head "kills" the doll and taking off its legs slow it down. Also unlike the other dolls, this one can cause actual lacerating injuries with its weapon and is not solely limited to opening up to tie the foe down. It goes down after two of the users posts if it is not destroyed by then.
Onibari: Rearing back his head, Bana launches a needle out of his mouth at the opponent attached to a spiritual thread. Although the primary intent is to impale the opponent with the assassin needle, when the thread is cut via Bana biting it, it ties itself up into a 2m tall Oni that seeks to crush or tie up the foe in its massive amount of thread. Like the other puppets, this one can be "slowed down" by removing a leg, however, unlike his other puppets this one can rebuild itself if its head is not destroyed, remaining largely unfazed by loss of limbs. This Oni also lasts longer, lasting three of the user's posts rather than two before finally disappearing, should his head not be destroyed.
Abilities/Special Training:
Beaten and Abused: Bana is used to a life of torture, pain, and submission. This has worked to his advantage in the instance of toughness, feeling less pain and receiving less severe wounds than most would under similar circumstances.
Untempered Spirit: Bana has a rather large pool of reiryoku to draw from, but his submissive state basically keeps him at a soldier level of reiatsu or lower, unable to willfully control his pressure. However, this does let him move around easily.
I'm...useful?: Bana is used to cruelty but always finds a use for something if he can. This makes him sort of like a pack rat on things he enjoys but also makes him dangerous in a fight because that pack rat nature means you never know what may be sent your way, or even how it'll be used.
