Personality: Taur is a fairly easy-going person who can get along with most races, unless you try to kill him, in which case he'll be glad to return the favor. His basic approach to hand-to-hand combat is hit first, hit hard, hit fast, and hit often. Taur does not trust magic, having heard too many stories about how magic will fail or backfire on the user, and he is suspicious of those who wield magic. Instead, he relies on the divine power of his patron deity, Ares the Greek God of War. By showing his patron deity the proper reverence and by employing the proper invocations, Taur can be granted the right to wield a portion of Ares' divine power. (See below.) While magic is fickle and untrustworthy, divine power works every time! That being so, that does not guarantee that Ares will grant his divine power to Taur. Knowing this to be so, Taur does not call upon his deity for assistance except in dire need, which has yet to happen. After all, Ares does not look favorably upon a warrior who is constantly pestering Him for help with battles that the warrior can handle by himself. Furthermore, Taur understands that only mighty warrior of great renown has the right to fully wield the divine powers of Ares, and since Taur is relatively a nobody, he will have to earn that right. Perhaps someday he will be worthy of that right, but not right now.
Bio: Taur was born in a thriving community of Minotaurs on the Isle of Crete. His namesake is none other than the Greek hero Achilles, who happens to be the greatest hero that the world has ever seen, in Taur’s opinion, and Taur knows that he has some big shoes to fill if he hopes to be anything like his namesake. (Speaking of shoes, Taur hopes that in time everyone will forget about that little thing about Achilles’ heel.) It was noticed early in Taur’s life that he had a fairly high level of intelligence (for a Minotaur, which isn't saying much). Added to that was Taur’s prowess as a warrior and his total devotion to his patron deity, Ares the Greek God of War. It was much to the surprise and delight of Taur and his entire family when he received an invitation to attend Amaterasu Academy. Taur considers it to be a great honor because he will be the very first member of his family to attend an institute of higher education. (Going by the way that his mother had gone on, and on, and on about it, one might have gotten the idea that Taur had just been anointed Lord Emperor of the Entire Universe.) At the present time, Taur’s first and foremost priority is to graduate from the Academy. Graduating with honors will be nice, but just getting the diploma will be enough for Taur to say ‘Mission accomplished’. On the other hand, returning home without the diploma will be a great disgrace that will bring shame upon Taur and his entire family. Needless to say, Taur is determined to ensure that such a disgrace will not happen.
Likes: Reading (he can read Homer's 'The Iliad' in the original Homeric Greek), pork, chicken, and everything else classified in the meat group except for beef, and bouzouki music.
Dislikes: Beef (eating beef is like eating a relative), Turks (Taur absolutely hates Turks. It's a Greek thing.) Romans for essentially stealing and renaming the Greek Pantheon. (No respect!) He also isn't fond of the German paratroopers that invaded Crete during that little disagreement known as World War 2 and made a mess of things, but that was before his time. Magic (see above).
Abilities: (Potential) Ares' Spear, a shaft of pure energy that strikes with enough force to knock Taur's opponent of of his/her/its feet; Achilles' Armor, an enchantment that provides an unarmored warrior with a set of Greek hoplite armor; (The name refers to the ancient Greek hero Achilles, and the power grants extra protection to the heels.); and Battle Hymn, a hymn of praise to Ares that raises the courage and morale of the warrior and his allies while sowing discord, confusion, and despair among their foes. (Please note that these are not magic spells. They are manifestations of divine power that might be granted to Taur if Ares deigns to grant them. Refer to Personality for further information.)
Weapon(s): Twin battleaxes that he has lovingly named 'Slice 'em' and 'Dice 'em'.
Other Info: Taur has a strong fetish for big women. As in plus-sized women.
Appearance: At 7' 6” and 350 lbs, Taur is essentially a humanoid-looking bull, with fur, horns, and everything. Ordinarily he is content with wearing nothing more than a pair of pants or a simple loincloth, along with a pair of leather sandals, but he is willing to wear any kind of uniform that the Academy will require.
