History: Nilih was born of Allanah, one of the Trine Weyrfolk, and the bronze rider J'red. Her early life was very bitter, as her mother saw her as a mistake, and made sure of every opportunity to make her miserable for it. Her father, on the other hand, took care of Nilih, and as a result, she was very close to him, as with her foster-mother, Karea. However, J'red was killed in a riding accident, and she was left with only with Karea, who she didn't think understood what she was going through. Her birth mother continued her previous behavior, and Nilih became disillusioned with people as a whole.

In the summer of her fifteenth Turn, there was a hatching at the Weyr, and she would stand as a candidate. At the Touching, she found herself drawn to the smallest egg of the group, and she was disappointed at the hatching. There were two other "dud" eggs in the clutch as well, and after the rest of the hatchlings had Impressed, she waited anxiously for the Weyrleaders to break open those eggs. She felt for certain that her bondmate would be in one of those eggs. But it was not the case, and although three healthy hatchlings emerged from the eggs, none of them so much as glanced at her. To them, she was nothing, beneath thier attention. Or so she thought.

Two more hatchings passed this way, with her standing as a Candidate at both. At the fourth, she didn't even try to do it again. She just watched from the stands, bitterness staining her mind as she watched other kids, weyrbred, holdbred, craftbred, find thier perfect match. She didn't see the rejected candidates. She only saw those who had what she so dearly wanted. As a result, when those of her friends Impressed, she broke off all contact with them. She wouldn't speak to them. She wouldn't eat near them. She wouldn't do anything with those people that had thier perfect match.

But apparently four was her lucky number. As she was filing out of the stands with the other spectators, she heard the cry of a hatchling, one of the atypical dragons. And she thought her heart would stop. For she could sense another being, the companion she had wanted for so long. Clumsy and tripping over anything that was in her path, she made her way to the hatchling that was crying out so piteously for its bondmate. And as soon as she touched the hatchling, everything was clear. She was aware of the little crimson dragon, in the same way that the little dragon was aware of her.

Description: Nilih is a tallish girl that has short black hair and tanned skin from all of the flying she and Croniarth do. She dresses in black weyr-hide, and prefers to stay out of the way of most people. Her closest friend is her dragon, and as a consequence is not very outspoken. She prefers to stay in the proverbial corner, never speaking unless she has to. She also has a great deal of nervous ticks when around other people, such as stuttering and how she sometimes tries to hide when someone comes, if she does not know them a great deal.

Dragon
Name: Croniarth
Age: 3 Turns
Colour: Crimson
Description: Croniarth is a rather bright dragon -- she is a vibrant red, though the color on her wings becomes darker, and appears to be near black. She has an old scar on her nose which she has had since she was a hatchling, playfighting with one of her weyrmates. She is rather heavyset, and thus would not be as good as others as a fighting dragon, with her decreased agility.
Personality: Croniarth is a calm, collected dragon, which is unusual for a crimson. She has chosen to be a breeder, and does not chew firestone. She has not had her first flight yet, and is still training as a weyrling. She needs constant oiling, for even though she is old enough to be flown she has not stopped growing, for she was small as a hatchling and needs the growth to compete with her older, and bigger, counterparts.
