Name: Menndan
Age: 10
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Kid
History:
Menndan's mother, Unnden, was a free spirited Seacrafter lady, at odds with her son, her husband, her husbands family, and a good deal of her own family as well. She had a dalliance- it was too casual to even call an affair- with a trader who was scouting out a new route for a caravan in the Southern area. He may not have wanted to cause trouble and compete with the other caravans in his company, but he certainly caused trouble in the seahold when she became pregnant with Menndan.
Fortunately for Menndan, his naturally buoyant charm kept him from being ostracized. Still, his older brother refused to have much to do with him. At first, Menndan looked up to Ulir from afar.
But at some point ( 5 ), Menndan started reaching out in the only way he knew how- by being persistent. He dogged his brothers heels relentlessly, weathering frustrated snapping with endless good nature and not letting up until long after his brother had warmed to him and taken him under his wing... or, rather, flipper ( 7). It was around this time that he first met his father and half siblings Shenja and Diedre and, in typical Menndan fashion, latched onto them. For the next three years, Menndan happily cultivated these relationships.
( 10 ) The storm hit and Menndan got to appreciate his brother's job for the first time- its dangers, as well as its glories.

Soon: he will hear about Shenja impressing Kalteth and immediately start contemplating a career as a dragonrider, as an option along with all of his other desires.

As for major events like Thread's return, threadfall is a thing that happens. Its not a nice thing, but like giant storms, it is a natural, smei-ordinary thing.
And the rebellion? Menndan doesn't quite understand what is going on. He hasn't thought to ask yet, and nobody has taken him aside and explained to him why he can't send letters to his aunt, uncle, and cousins in Malvren Dolphinhold.
He just isn't fully cognizant of their effects on his life.

Description:
Menndan is a small boy with large glittering ocean-blue eyes, and wild hair, bleached a platinum blonde by the sun. He is also dark skinned, likely by the sun as well.
His face is rounded, though there are signs of heavy cheekbones underneath the childish roundness. He has a large, wide, easy smile with an almost roguish sort of look to him.
Menndan wears clothing typical for a boy his age in a Dolphineer hold- loose clothing for wandering about outdoors and swim trunks for swimming.

Personality:

Menndan is a cheerful child, as sunny as the coasts he lives on. He is always possessed of a boundless enthusiasm and good nature. It is hard to upset or distress him- he usually finds the latent good in everything.
Its not that nothing can bring him down, though, its that he is, as yet, too naive to be brought down. He doesn't quite comprehend that the world can have a dark side to it.
Generally Menndy is a nice kid. He's Empathetic, sociable, friendly, energetic, and open minded. Perhaps too energetic. His minders consider him to be an incredibly annoying handful. He is not the adventuresome sort- his mischief doesn't take him away from his minders. In fact, its not so much mischief as pestering- He wants attention. In fact, he loves it. He can be annoyingly persistent in trying to get someone to pay as much attention to him as possible. He needs their attention and praise- he is not the sort of child that will want to play alone for long. If he is alone, he will actively seek out someone. He prefers that they be there already though. Loneliness, you could say, is a dire weakness of his- he would do horribly in solitary confinement or something of the sort.
He is a creative child, and his ideas for games and plans and artistic creations are seemingly endless. His favorite activity is to show these ideas off to other people- no secretly nurtured ideas for this child. In fact, Menndan is terrible with secrets. He is only slightly better at keeping other's secrets than his own, which isn't saying much because he has no secrets. He hides nothing about himself, and always tells the truth as he knows it. He doesn't quite understand that, especially with other people's secrets, they are secret for a reason and could get them in trouble if told. To him, secrets are only fun when they are told. Basically, he tends to blab, and doesn't seem to realize that people avoid telling him things for this very reason.
Oddly, this is balanced by the fact that Menndan is a good listener and does not judge. He thinks people are great, no matter what, and a confession to him is likely to get a positive reception. He's the perfect kid to come out to with a horrible (or just inflammatory) before telling anybody else, because it is certain that he'll accept it- and you- as you are. Do you like the same gender? Thats fine! Did you steal that cake? Ok! Did you kill that man by the docks? Oh... well, thats not good but you're still you!
Of course, if someone asks or he feels like telling it, your secret won't be kept secret for long. But if you were thinking about revealing it anyway, he's a good person to come to first.
Menndan doesn't yet understand the concept of 'ex-friendship', too, so he'll still be your friend (or at least be friendly), even if you admit to something terrible or something that manages to upset him. This may change as he grows older and more experienced with the ways of a harsh world.
He looks up to his older half brothers Ulir and Shenja. Shenja, because he seems to know everything and he can do fun things like backflips. and Ulir because Ulir is brave, tough, and strong. Menndan is not a ranger-y sort of person like Ulir, but he thinks he could be. At this point in his life, he dreams of being some great hero, like in the harper stories. He isn't entirely sure what that would mean. Would he be a dragonrider? A Dolphineer? Or something else that he hasn't thought of? The fantasy isn't clear, but with the conviction of the young he just knows it: he wants to be a hero. He wants to do great things. Don't we all?
He hasn't yet considered going into a craft, but his desire to do great works may be served by a craft that takes advantage of his mechanical creativity. He has some potential there, waiting to be tapped. But as of this point in time, he has no specific ideas of what to do with himself.
His family provides him with very definite examples: Shenja is now a Dragonrider (Though a Weyrling), Diedre is a Trader, Ulir is a Dolphineer, but whether he follows, or tries to follow, in their footsteps has yet to be determined. But he has time.
Basically: Menndy is a ball of creative and energetic enthusiasm whos need for attention and social interaction can cause him to be a bit of a pest.

Good:
Innocent
Kindhearted
Open Minded
Neutral:
Wants to be a Hero
Inventive
Needs people
Bad:
Hyperactive
Chaotic
Pestery

Other:
Knows a good deal about Dolphineering, as he's been around dolphins and dolphineers all of his life. Not so much about dragons, though.
