So, how will you be preparing for camp nano? Are you going to start fresh or use something you already have hiding somewhere? Do you need to world build? Flesh out characters? Research?

Discuss your planning strategies here!

I'm combing two story ideas, an old one and a new one that actually go very well together. I need to make an outline for the novel, and then separate outline for chapters (I liked to be well planned :/ )
Gonna make simple character profiles as well but only for certain key characters. And will have a little world building to do.
Hopefully I'm not over doing it again.

Sounds very thorough. It'll probably help a lot since the ideas are older ones meaning you've had a lot of time to mull them over. I wish I could plan, but planning bores me, and I always end up doodling.

How did you go overboard last time?

I did a science fiction last time and the setting was on a different planet. So I sat there and came up with a name for the planet, then came up with four major countries based off of America/England, Russia, France, and Japan/South Korea. So I spent a month researching different things about each country and coming up with a long list of characters (important and non important) and in the end I spent so much energy making sure every thing was correct that it stopped being fun...If that makes any sense lol.

I love planning my ideas out so long as I don't go overboard. It usually helps to talk the story out with a friend and ask them for advice and input lol.

I'm trying to do both of these next month. Napo will be 30 poems based on whatever inspires me in Dublin city/and other place I am. NanoWrimo is gonna be harder; I want it to have some Philosophical back line so I'm a little stuck for that.
