History||
Phineas James Séverié was originally a simple flame spelled alive to live in the hearth of the Séverié family’s fireplace. He protected the mansion against unwanted guests and eventually grew a conscience. Every year, he grew larger and larger, before he was the size of a large dog and was forced to exit the cramped fireplace. For some reason, a higher power saw fit to reward the flame sprite’s loyalty toward his ‘cause’, and Phineas James Séverié was born from that very same conscience flame. At first only a child, Finn (as he came to be known as) stayed and protected the Séverié family with all his heart. He found he could transform into flames, control them, and guard himself with them. His surrogate family called him a ‘flame spirit’ sent from the heavens to help them.
However, Séverié grew lonely and bitter as his life went on. He was kept under lock and key, the family never wanting strangers to steal their precious protector and secret. Generations went by, each learning of the secret guardian. About two generations before his escape, the head of the family was Sir Jean-Luc Paul Séverié. He was a cruel, bigoted, insipid person who thought of Phineas as a monster that burdened the family. He struck out and injured Finn several times, not caring about him and abusing the (now teenage) Finn. The flame spirit was saddened and scared of striking out at his family. Soon after Jean-Luc’s way of treating him was let out, the rest of the family started to treat the Flame Spirit the same way. Finn was always beat upon, spit on (ouch!), and sneered at. His already bitter heart transformed into one of anger. Phineas James Séverié was angry at his imprisonment. Angry at Jean-Luc. Angry at his family. But most of all, he was angry at himself. For being the creature he was, and wishing he could be with the family that used to look at him with adoring eyes. Now, Finn only saw hatred, disgust, and cruel arrogance. He suffered this long after Jean-Luc passed away. It was December 14th, when Finn finally snapped. He let loose flames of sadness and anger that had been hid away for over a hundred years. Half of the mansion was burned, over 10 lives lost, and a broken spirit flew away into the dark forest.
Phineas lived in the forest by himself, eating wood and leaves to keep his internal flame burning. The animals shied away though. It was in this forest that he met his first water spirit. She was a beautiful spirit, with a pretty face and a body made of the clearest spring water. Finn watched her from afar, longing to know another spirit. He approached her one day and greeted her. They were both delighted, but as they shook hands, he quickly dropped her. His entire hand was slightly melting, clammy, and cold. Her hand was starting to disappear into steam. They both created their respective elements and fixed themselves, but the gave saddened looks to each other. It was good bye for Finn. He left the forest, wary of all water spirits. At one point, a mean spirited ice fairy flung icicles at him, nearly extinguishing his flame. He vowed to stay away from ice and water. In his travels, Finn met a young flame spirit like himself, and brought her under his wing. They traveled together for many years, until she and him had a fight and split up. He still thinks of her as his little sister though....
When Phineas stumbled upon the school, he didn’t expect the number of different species. He had lived with humans for almost his entire life and hadn’t seen many other creatures. Finn stayed around the school grounds, blacking monsters from harming students, and occasionally knocking out students doing .....devious things. He was still bitter and angry, taking it out on those who were truly evil or those breaking his personal ‘rules’ he had set out for the students. Finn was eventually recruited into the staff as part of the security guard, and with his annoyance of rule breakers, he became the one in charge of disciplinary action.
