Kleos pawed over the map of Trine and its surrounding areas, chewing her lower lip distractedly. With one thing and another it had taken her a while to even begin this effort, but she had begun now and didn't plan to hide it. She had moved her desk out onto the shore by one of the lakes along with a couple of spare chairs and some refreshments, Moriath's idea. Putting people at their ease and making them feel welcome were key if she was going to have any luck with this whatsoever.

Dipping quill into ink she scribbled a few notes onto a piece of parchments, matters she would need to consider later on.

Moriath lounged nearby soaking up the sun and keeping an eye out for any nearby folk who could be attracted over for a chat. Kleos had been very firm with her on this point, no discriminating against males. She did see her rider's point, it wouldn't do to alienate half of the population if they were going to stand a chance of forming a district.

Jemi raked water out of her short hair, eyes half closed and muscles aching from their spar. She stretched and toweled her short hair dry. Nothing was quite as refreshing after a spar as a swim and it had been a while since she fought with someone she trusted enough to go full out. Picking at her slightly sticking top she decided to foe go putting back on her sandals. The sand and bare feet was rather pleasant.

She meet up with Wen. Teased him about his much longer and completely soaked hair and started to walk back to the Weyr. Just for there to be a large crimson and a lady, with a desk, and papers, by the shore line. What in shards was she doing?

Wen tipped his head. While he had never met either the crimson or the rider, he was sure he had heard of her in passing. "We might as well go and see what she has set up here." It was odd but clearly meant to attract attention.

Kleos spotted the pair down by the water though her bondmate. She didn't want to seem over keen... but if what she thought recalled about the young man - blackrider - was correct then she definitely wanted to talk to him about her efforts. They seemed to be heading closer though and so Kleos got to her feet and stepped around her desk, approaching the young man she believed she recognised and the young woman she did not.

"Good afternoon," she greeted with a smile and a salute. "You are... Wen I believe? I apologise young lady I'm not aware of your name, I am Kleos and over there is Moriath my dragon. Could you spare me a few moments of your time?" Now was not the time for waving around titles or presuming that others were at her disposal, it was a separate venture entirely to Dauntless at the moment though she did hope she would have her wing's support in her efforts.

Wen fell in to an easy attention as the woman approached, taking a moment to study Kleos as she approached. Jemi lazily followed suit beside him, his fellow guard towering him by eight inches and more mass then he cared to think about. Crimson rider... wingleader? He wasn't sure of the knots, just that it was not a simple wing riders knot.

"Yes, my bond partner is Rynsemth." He glanced over at Jemi and sighed, catching the wide cat like smile crossing her face. "This is my sword sister, Jemi. She currently is a part of the guard at Trine," he continued before Jemi answer.

"We're from the same hold guard, but that probably obvious." Jemi glanced over and gave an appreciate whistle. "Lovely crimson, Kleos. I haven't seen an adult crimson before- but I don't think many of them come close to your girl in power."

Like nearly every rider, or at least like a great many, Kleos beamed broadly when her dragon was complimented. "Not many!" she agreed with a chuckle. "She's a fighter, and tough as they come. Your compatriot's bondmate was born of one of her breeding sisters, if I recall correctly Wen? He was one of Hyweth's?" She was pleased that she had got his name right, and more pleased still that she had remembered his profession... and that the tall woman beside him - Jemi, remember her name too now she had it - shared that post.

"Please do come and sit; I'd like to talk to both of you actually, regarding your profession." The scarred woman made a small gesture to the table and smiled. "There's sweetrolls, meatrolls, klah and redfruit juice if you would like some refreshment."

"He is," Wen confirmed. "Thank you, though I am intrigued if this has to do with the ten districts and which spot you are thinking of laying claim of." He heard things and decided he rather stay standing but did take a sweetroll to be polite.

Jemi gave a grin. "Just saw a lovely crimson lass hatch during the hatching. First time I been to one, didn't get to see the last since I went after the Queen egg," and everyone knew what happened. Jemi sighed, a tad bit sore she hadn't managed to kick the thieves but glad the dragon was well. "Might have heard me, I got a bit loud during the silver but he was a handsome little fellow." She flopped into a chair, at ease and helped herself to some klah. "Heard some rumors about recruiting going on. "

"Oh! Well, yes, it does actually." Kleos paused in the action of reaching for a sheet of paper, she hadn't expected to be pre-empted. It was a good surprise though, at least she thought it was. If Wen had it on his mind perhaps he was interested in the new venture.

"Perhaps I did," Kleos replied, changing tack for a moment to respond to Jemi with a smile. "He was a very handsome boy, and his crimson sister was exquisite too." She hoped they fared well, the little crimson had looked weak to her even for an atypical... but her rider would care well for her, she had no doubt of that at all.

"I am currently seeking people willing to join me in taking on one of the southerly districts," the scarred rider continued, pushing a stack of papers aside to reveal a map of the proposed districts. "Here," a long calloused finger with bitten nails tapped district seven lightly. Having indicated the area of interest Kleos looked up at the pair of guards, her light green eyes intent, trying to gauge their interest.

"Seven is a lucky number," Jemi muttered, looking over the map and hummed. "Wen?" She muttered, looking over her shield brother in interest. She could see the offensive capabilities of having the training field and landing field.. if she was reading the map right.

"You want the landing field, and there is a training field in the area as well.. Do you know who is looking in taking Distract 8?" Wen question, eyes gleaming at the possibilities. It would be a good district specially for those of the more military mind set. "I like it. We would be securing control of the Landing field and a training facility."

Yes, she definitely liked these two. Kleos grinned and inclined her head slightly. "I hope that it will be lucky for those who choose to join me, hope and aim to make it so with hard work too.

"As for your question," she turned to Wen, "I do not know who plans to take on eight, everything in regards to the districts is still in its infancy and until a few days ago I was preoccupied with wing business so I may have missed any gossip on the subject. You're right though, I wished to be sure that our landing field is well guarded and the jungle training area will be of use.... My intent is to seek out people such as yourselves, those who have experience in combat or self defence, and encourage those who live in the district to train in those arts too under the guidance of people such as yourselves. We do not live in a safe world anymore, perhaps we never did, but regardless of when the rot began those of us who are not currently able to defend ourselves and our homes must learn to." She wished it wasn't the case but there was no changing it, they could only go on from where they were today and do all they could to keep the forces of evil back from their homes.

"It would be nice it the leader was a friendly party. The second training facility is in that district and depending on the specialty, a flanking maneuver from there to the field would increase security," Wen replied, fingers tracing the paper in thought. It sounded like a well thought out plan.

"Might want to see about getting the Master healer up here for combat medicine lessons as well," Jemi said, voice eager and eyes gleaming at the idea of doing something more then rounds. "Do you think we could clear some land up farther," She muttered, tapping a distance away from the field. "Sort of set up a cache, or maybe wallows so not all our fighting forces are in the city at the same time."

Kleos had to admit that she hadn't quite expected suggestions to be thrown at her at this point; surprising but actually rather pleasing, they both made good points. Having never been afraid of speaking her mind herself perhaps she should have expected it more from others, regardless of the rank she held. "I do believe that both of those ideas would be feasible, and sensible too," Kleos agreed after a short pause with a nod to Jemi. "Having wallows out there to keep watch over the landing field... weapons caches too perhaps, small ones, and training people in field medicine can only be positive." She would like to live in a world where such things were not necessary but she did not and it would be foolish to waste time wishing it away that could be spent preparing to face the reality of life.

"I would hope that whomever claims that district would work well with us," Kleos went on to Wen. "I would hope that of any of the districts but especially the two that adjoin with Seven, and double so Eight. We will need to work closely with them, if I am to assume that they plan to make the training area a focal point of their activities as I do."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 27, 2013 7:08 pm

"Specially since Eight is the closest district with a large water source," Wen replied looking over the maps and pressed his lips together tightly. If something happened and they were trapped in the district, water could become a concern.

"Pipe line it," Jemi replied, gently poking Wen in the shoulder. "Like how farmers irrigate their fields." A second poke happen, a slight warning to stop thinking so hard, revolt and what not could wait. "What would our duties be? As a part of your district?" Jemi asked, eager for something new.

She hadn't considered piping in water and made a note of it; that would be easier than hauling it, or flying in by dragon in emergencies. A project to consider, certainly.

"Initially at least I would need the two of you to help make the district perimiters as secure as possible, your guarding experience will be a great asset," Kleos continued with a little nod to the pair. "Once things are a little more established and we have more people moving in I would ask that you offer self defense training to residents. If the wherholds insist on bringing war to our doorstep, we must be prepared to face them and defend our home and those we love." It was something of a relief to find two people so eager to join her in her efforts, a part of her had feared that nobody would be interested.

“Ahh,” Wen said, considering. He and Jemi had two difference styles when it came to defense. He was tiny and his main form was keeping out of reach and using his foe’s movement against them, he upset their balance. Jemi was like a brick and a good offense was the best defense. “That could be” interesting, chaotic, amusing “acceptable,” he settled on finally.

“Grind them down and snap them back,” Jemi grinned, eager. Let her teach and in a way give her free range to beat respect into green recruits? She was so there.
